what is the importance of SOLAR ECLIPSE to professional astronomers?
If we can use coronagraph to see the corona of the sun even on normal days, then what is the need for scientists to wait for a total Solar eclipse to see the corona or the chromosphere of the sun. What else can scientists observe during a total Solar eclipse?
Answer: It has to do with the signal to noise ratio. On a clear night, look up at the stars with a flashlight pointed toward you. Then remove the light. You can see more stars.
By observing during the eclipse, even a partial eclipse, the majority of unwanted light (noise) is attenuated by the moon. When the corona graph, which already has a filter for the center, has the light blocked by the moon, the fainter light can be observed.

What is the difference between total and annular SOLAR ECLIPSE?
I need to know to difference between a total Solar eclipse, annular Solar eclipse and partial Solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse. Thanks :D
Answer: Total Solar eclipse:
The Moon covers the complete disc of the Sun.
Annular Solar eclipse:
The Moon, at greatest eclipse, covers most of the Sun, but when it is centered, the disc of the Sun creates an "annulus" around the outer edge of the disc of the Moon. The Sun and Moon vary slightly in their distance from Earth, so sometimes the Sun appears slightly larger than the Moon.
Partial Solar eclipse:
The Moon passes in front of part of the Sun, but it not centered so that an observer can see totality or an annulus.
Lunar Eclipse:
The Moon passes into the Earths shadow.

When will the SOLAR ECLIPSE start in arizona?
When will the Solar eclipse start in arizona?
Answer: The penumbral eclipse has already begun, but it is just a slight darkening of the moon's surface. The clear shadow (umbra) of the earth will begin crossing the moon about 25 minutes from the time of this post...no matter where you are.
About an hour and 15 minutes later, the whole moon will be covered by the earth's shadow. That will last for about 50 minutes. Then the shadow will slowly move off the other side.

What is the difference between a lunar eclipse and a SOLAR ECLIPSE?
People said the next Solar eclipse is going to be August 21,2012. But the next lunar eclipse may be in many years. What is the difference?
Answer: We have roughly two-three of each kind of eclipse every year, but the difference is, lunar eclipses can be seen from anywhere on the Earth where the Moon is above the horizon (a little more than half of the globe) and Solar eclipses need to be seen from more specific locations, only a tiny stretch of the planet will ever be in "the path of totality" for a Solar eclipse.
A lunar eclipse is when the Moon passes into Earth's shadow, it turns blood red. If you have clear skies right now, and the Sun is not up yet, you can catch the tail end of this one.
A Solar eclipse is when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking out some of its light.

SOLAR ECLIPSE.............?
Soo during a Solar eclipse can you see the moon? abd can u see partial Solar eclipse in more places than total Solar eclipse?
Answer: You can see the silhouette of the moon, but not the actual moon.
What you see is a dark hole surrounded by light, you just know that it is the moon.
A partial Solar eclipse happens in all the area around the full Solar eclipse, so yes you can see them in more places and more often.
But I would not advise looking at the Solar eclipse as it is still just as damaging to your eyes, despite the lack of light.

What is the difference between a total SOLAR ECLIPSE and an annular SOLAR ECLIPSE?
Can any total Solar eclipse be an annular eclipse? or is it vice versa?
Answer: Let me try to help you with easy answers:
If Solar eclipse happens when moon is closer to earth and hence can at least cover some area with complete darkness is Total Eclipse. However, when moon is quite distant and can't create complete darkness is Annular Solar eclipse.
In Total Solar eclipse, the sun is not at all visible, however, in Annular Solar eclipse, sun is visible on complete circumference on moon.
As an analogous example: Suppose your friend (sun) is standing at a distance and observing your TV (earth). The more close you (moon) standing to your TV, more you can hide him from your friends view.
