How does a BROWN RECLUSE spider bite progress?

My sister was recently bit by a Brown recluse spider in the middle of her back. Shes been in excruciating pain for several days even though shes been treated. The bite area spread, turned red and swollen, and seems to be getting worse by the day. What can she expect to happen next? Will it get better?
Answer: Initially, the bite may feel like a pinprick or go unnoticed. Some may not be aware of the bite for 2 to 8 hours. Others feel a stinging sensation followed by intense pain. Infrequently, some victims experience general systemic reactions that may include restlessness, generalized itching, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, or shock. A small white blister usually initially rises at the bite site surrounded by a swollen area. The affected area enlarges and becomes red, and the tissue is hard to the touch for some time. The lesion from a Brown recluse spider bite is a dry, blue-gray or blue-white, irregular sinking patch with ragged edges and surrounding redness--termed the "red, white, and blue sign." How do you get rid of BROWN RECLUSE spiders in my house?

I moved into a house that sat empty for a few years. Come to find out it is infested with Brown recluse spiders. I have worked with several professional pest companies and it hasnt done much good. I would just move, but my credit isnt too good now and cant get another home loan. My problem is that I have 3 small children and am afraid someone will get bit. Can someone please help? I am terrified of spiders. I live in Kansas. And I have tried glue traps, Orkin, Terminix, nothing worked.
Answer: I have a bad infestation in my home. I used a bug man who sprayed my living quarters, fogged under the house, and fogged my attic. He said there is nothing you can do to get rid of them. However, you can control them. Do not have piles/stacks of stuff in the home. Keep everything off the floor as much as possible. They love newspaper, cardboard boxes, etc so get rid of those. If you must store items, use plastic storage boxes and make sure there are no openings for the spiders to enter. Remember - they are reclusive and seek out the dark, little disturbed areas in your home. Move the furniture around often and vaccuum like never before. Keep them moving. Make sure you check behind hanging pictures and mirrors as those spaces are rarely disturbed, and I have found more than one there. Please be aware they are not an agressive spider and will only bite if you happen to touch them in some sort of way. I was bitten earlier this year. It is a very painful experience that I do not want to relive. Since my bite, I have educated myself a great deal about them. My biggest challenge was cleaning out my attic where I had much stored in cardboard boxes, etc. I found many live and dead ones up there. I have not seen any live ones in the house for about two weeks now, so hopefully, they are under control. Like you, I have small children and do not want them hurt. Good luck and God bless.

BROWN RECLUSE?!!?!?

first off i have no insurance, so what im about to say is only because i couldnt afford to go to the doctor unless im sure its fatal......i have a what appears to be a swollen bite on my thigh abouve my knee....its been there for about 3 days, its red and very tender......on the 2nd day my friend said it was a brown reclue bite and that he had one once and just sliced it open and drained it every day letting out more and more puss/venom?.....then would douse it in peroxide and then rubbing alcohol.....well i sliced mine open a bit (everything steralized) and was able to get out some puss stuff and some blood too.....i doused it and did the same thing today, and only some comes out, not all of it.....its still like a hard mass under my skin and very tender, but the surrounding area isnt as red as it was b4.....b4 it was surrounded by reddened skin....has anyone ever treated a recluse bite liek this? it still hurts and im a bit scared, cuz iv heard it can rott away ur skin...
Answer: Yes it can rot away your skin. Better be careful doing what your doing. You could really mess up you life doing your own minor surgery. There infections out there (and this could be one of them) that the longer you wait the sicker and harder to treat you'll become, and then you run into real money with hopital bills. Go to a county hospital or whatever but get it taken care of. Who knows could be a simple boil!

okay i found a spider that i think was a Brown recluse and i am worried that my baby sister may get bitten by one if it was one and i want to know if anyone could identify it okay here is the desciption, well it was pretty dark brown and there was a half of a diamond elongated and thin in the middle of the thorax and on both sides starting about a forth of the way down the diamond there were four dots on both sides the problems with me not being able to identify it is that every pic I see is either they all look different or the pics are too small to see the details. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Brown_recluse_spider%2C_Loxosceles_reclusa.jpg in that pic, it is pretty close to what it looked like, but the body was darker and that half triangle on the thorax is lighter and ther are four tiny spots symetrically placed on both sides

I suggest taking her to the hospital to be sure, Brown recluse bites are rarely life threatening in adults but children are a different matter. The venom also works slowly, decaying the tissue around the bite. It will look like a red mosquito bite at first (red, swollen, and itchy) and slowly get worse and worse over a month until it becomes extremely swollen and gangrene around the bite. The also live in the area of the United States east of the Mississippi but west of the Appalachia's and south of the great lakes.

Answer: They are brown and have a violin shape on the back of their body. They can easily be mistaken for a grass spider which looks similar but doesn't have that violin spot

i live in an old farm house and we have lots of spiders, my dad was bit by one a few days ago and he is in the hospital now, im afraid that my new baby might get bit by one. we know they are Brown recluse and black widows because i have seen them. how can i get rid of them?
Answer: Bites from the recluse are very rare, and only 3% of them even require medical intervention. My aunt lives in 'recluse central' and has a house full of them. she just sucks them up with a vacuum. 45 years, and no bites.

Does anybody know how to get rid of BROWN RECLUSE spiders?

I was just going through old photo albums and there were about 4 dead ones and 1 live one in one of them.And the dead ones you could still poke without them crumbling or breaking at all so Im guessing not dead too long.Weve never had a real Brown recluse problem before,the occasional one will pop up,but it was normally small,not about the size of a half dollar like these ones were.Does anybody know any good tricks to get rid of them? We have 3 cats by the way so I dont want anything that could hurt them.
Answer: well get the hoover out , you need to clear away any boxes, cardboard that´s lying around fill up any crack´s that you have in the walls they say if you use yellow outside bulbs this stops the spiders coming in . true I don´t now , think the best thing is to give a good hoover around get rid of the old cobwebs as they live on dead insects so if you have less of them around they will have nothing to feed on . and as you say you have cats if they get bitten or yourselves not nice. PS read some where that furniture polish gets rid of them , true can´t tell

I think I might have been bitten by a Brown recluse. I do not think is it a full grown one because I personaly feel fine but my arm is really red and the bite is raised and there is a visable hole in the center. Is this a Broen Recluse?
Answer: By all means, go to the ER today! I was bitten by one a few years ago. At first I thought it was just a mosquito bite, but then it began to swell a bit. I let it go for a few days, but then it got to the point where I could not even touch my leg without pain. I finally went to the ER. By that time Cellulitis had set in, and I needed to go on I.V. antibiotics. The first round of antibiotics did not work, then an infection set in. I ended up with my blood turning septic, and I nearly died. I spent about a month in the hospital on some really hard-core antibiotics. luckily, the infection did not spread to the bone, so I did not need to have anything amputated. So, as you can see, a spider bite is nothing to mess around with. I am not trying to scare you, or anything like that. I am simply telling you that you should seek medical attention as soon as possible so the same thing does not happen to you. I wish you luck, and I hope you feel better soon.
