Does lent end on HOLY THURSDAY or palm sunday for Catholics?
I want a diet coke haha!
Answer: It ends at the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy thursday, since from then until the Easter Vigil (inclusive) is the Easter Triduum, which is a seperate tiny season, not part of Lent. Bear in mind, though, that Good Friday is a fasting day, so you might not find it appropriate to drink a diet coke after the Maundy Thursday Mass! It would probably be more liturgical to wait until Saturday morning, at least, or even until after the Vigil.
So, Lent ends at Thursday Mass, but the fasting doesn't.

How many churches to visit during HOLY THURSDAY Visita Iglesia?
Answer: 7 churches. This tradition came from the seven Pilgrim churches of Rome which pilgrims visit in order to gain indulgences. This is the reason why you have to visit 7 churches for your Visita Iglesia.
I don't believe my Parish priest anymore regarding this, but he said that since the Visista Iglesia symbolizes the pilgrimage to the seven Pilgrim Churches, you have to visit seven Churches which you have not visited before. He argues that you can't have a pilgrimage if you just visit the same Churches where you go to mass.
For me his argument is correct, since Pilgrimage means visit to a place far afield. However, for practical reasons (especially the cost of gasoline and other expenses), i won't be following his advice.

How do Protestants celebrate HOLY THURSDAY, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday?
As a Catholic, only having celebrate the Triduum with Stations of the Cross, a Seder Meal, the Eucharsit, and the Easter Vigil, I am curious as to how other Christian Denominations celebrate Holy Week... thanks!
Answer: I can't speak for all protestants but here is how those days are celebrated at my United Methodist church:
Worship service on Thursday evening. Many people begin a 40 hour fast at this time, which ends on Saturday after lunch.
Friday: Many people gather for a sacrificial breakfast. Many people attend stations of the cross (which we have set up temporarily in our learning annex). Good Friday Worship service.
Saturday: This is the day that our confirmation class (seventh graders) join the church, which is during the Easter vigil service beginning at around sundown on Saturday evening.

What happens at HOLY THURSDAY mass?
Can someone tell me what happens at the mass of the Lords Supper (Holy thursday)? Is it the same length as a regular mass, is there anything special added?
Answer: It is the same as a normal Sunday Mass with the exception of the Washing of the Feet. Each church does it a little differently. At some churches, the priest will wash the feet of the deacons. At other churches, the priest will wash the feet of 12 people from the congregation. At the church I go to, everyone has an opportunity to wash someone else's feet and to have their own feet washed. The last scenario takes a bit of time.

Why Isnt HOLY THURSDAY and Good Friday Holy Days Of Obligation According To The Church?
I find this weird considering how important Holy Week is to the Catholic Faith that Catholics are not required by Church law to attend the services of Holy thursday and Good Friday.
Why arent they obligated?
Answer: Good Friday is not a day of obligation for technical reasons. The obligation on a holy day is an obligation to attend mass. This would be impossible to fulfill on Good Friday because no mass is celebrated. The services that are held are liturgies, but not masses
I don't know the reason why Holy thursday isn't a day of obligation. My best guess would be that it is to do with the fact that the Holy thursday mass (ie the mass of the Lord's Supper) can only be celebrated once, on the Thursday evening. This makes it hard for some people to attend (eg those who work night shifts, or those with young children) and the church perhaps thinks it an unreasonable burden to demand their attendance.
On a normal holy day, by contrast, there would be several masses celebrated throughout the day. Thus people are able to fit their mass attendance around their other commitments, so an obligation would not be so unreasonable.

I heard that lent ends on HOLY THURSDAY and then the triduum starts. Is this true?
This year i gave up fast food and music for lent. When can i start to eat fast food and listen to music again?
Answer: Yes, for Roman Catholics the Lenten season ends with the start of the Holy thursday Mass beginning at sunset the Thursday before Easter Sunday. With the exception of food sacrifices, you may continue with what you gave up (assuming what you gave up is moral).
To explain the food sacrifice, when Lent ends a Triduum begins (which is Latin for three days). This Triduum includes Holy thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday and is often regarded as the three most holy and sacred days.
Although Lent ends on Holy thursday, Good Friday remains a day of strict fasting and abstinence. Catholics who are over the age of 18 and under the age of 60 are required to fast. Which means that they can eat only one complete meal and two smaller ones during the day, with no food in between. Catholics who are over the age of 14 are required to refrain from eating any food containing meaningful amounts of red meat.
There are also ancient traditions that dates to the first century that mandates no food is to be eaten on Holy Saturday or for 40 hours before sunrise on Easter Sunday. However, it has become more traditional to continue the sacrifices practiced during Lent (that ended on Holy thursday evening) through Easter Sunday morning.
Because the Lenten period, the Triduum, and other rituals include food sacrifices, I believe that many consider all as one; with that one being more recognized as Lent. Therefore Easter Sunday is commonly and mistakenly believed to mark the last day of Lent.

Why do Catholic churches cover up the crucifix and statues on Palm Sunday through HOLY THURSDAY?
I go to a Catholic church, and they cover all statues of Jesus, the crucifix, and the statues of saints in red cloth. Ive heard that it is to remind us that Jesus didnt have to die, but Id rather have a more detailed explanation. And that also doesnt explain why we cover up the saints. Should I cover up my crucifixes at home?
Answer: This tradition is most common from the close of Holy thursday through the Easter vigil and occurs with the removal of the Holy Eucharist from the Tabernacle. It is a visual reminder that we are separated from Jesus and adds to our joy on Easter when we are back in the Presence the Resurrected Christ. Peace.

Why Arent HOLY THURSDAY and Good Friday Holy Days of Obligation?
It just seems odd that during the most important time of the year for Christians that Holy thursday and Good Friday services are not obligated to attend by its members.
Its highly encouraged but you are not required by official church law to be there.
I was wondering why so?

Answer: The Holy thursday service recounts the last supper, and the good Friday service Christ's passion while they are hugely important in Christian theology, they do pale in comparison to the celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord. Most devout Catholics will attend several services during Holy Week even though they are not expressly recognized as holy days of obligation.

What do Catholics do on HOLY THURSDAY and what is celebrated on that day?
i am writing an essay and need an answer, please help?
Answer: There are two Masses on Holy thursday.
The Bishop celebrates the Chrism Mass early in the day where the sacramental oils are blessed and distributed to each parish.
Then the Evening Mass of Lord's Supper is celebrated in each parish. The feast of Maundy (or Holy) Thursday commemorates the institution of the Eucharist (Holy Communion) at the Last Supper.
The word "maundy" comes from the Latin word mandatum (commandment) which is the first word that Jesus spoke to His apostles after He washed their feet (John 13:34):
• "Mandátum novum do vobis dicit Dóminus, ut diligátis ínvicem, sicut diléxi vos."
• "I give you a new commandment: Love one another as I have loved you."
The biblical the events of the first Holy thursday were:
• The eating of the Easter lamb or the paschal meal
• The washing of the disciple's feet
• The institution of the Most Holy Eucharist
. • The first Mass at which Jesus Christ is the eternal high priest
. • The first Communion of the apostles
. • The first conferring of Holy Orders
• The foretelling of Judas' betrayal and Peter's denials
• The farewell discourse and priestly prayer of Jesus
• The agony and capture of Jesus in the Garden of Olives
