Anyone know a good Drama School in DERBYSHIRE?
Im looking for a drama school in Derbyshire, UK. Does anyone know of one that they can recommend?
It needs to offer kids classes (for an 8 year old) and preferably be a proper drama school offering possibilities for exams in drama as opposed to just being a drama club.
Thanks.
Answer: I know of a drama school called Theatre Cats which is just opening new classes in Derbyshire and already has classes in Staffordshire.
It encourage confidence and self-esteem through drama, dance and musical theatre. I know it also offers exams in Lamda and Trinity so that children build on their knowledge and skills, they're always working towards a goal, be it exams or performances.

How do I track down vital records of ancestors while in DERBYSHIRE?
I have a chance to travel to Derbyshire County in England this coming May, where my fathers family originates. (I live in the U.S.) Would love to do some family research, but dont have any contacts in the area and dont know where to start. Has anyone tried this? Maybe a local parish, or even a professional genealogist could help if I could track one down.
Answer: I live in Nottingham, just fifteen miles from the centre of Derby. I know Derbyshire very well. I thought you might like to have a look at these sites that I have on file, there are some really good informative sites amongst them.

Where can I get a Eurotech Key cut in DERBYSHIRE?
I have recently moved into a new property that was repossesed. Prior to moving in, the locks were changed and I was given the only keys. When I have attempted to get copies made, they are unable to succesfully copy the key.
Contacting the company that fitted the locks, they told me that it is a Eurotech europrofile lock. The key is a thin round shaft with the metal thing at the end (pardon my ignorance, I know nothing about keys. Imagine a flagpole). The only thing I can tell that is unique about them is that the top bit is arched, rather than flat.
Any ideas?
Answer: Have you tried contacting a locksmith to see if they can help you.
There is a 2or3 key cutting shops in chesterfield, but i'm not sure if they cut the type of key you describe.

Is the Peak District and the DERBYSHIRE Dales the same thing?
I have heard of both the Peak District and the Derbyshire Dales, but are they the same thing?
Thank you for any help.
Answer: The peak district consists of two parts, the northern part is the "dark peak" which is rough, wild, moorland, the southern part is the "White peak", which is farmland, and open countryside and not as harsh, wild as the Dark peak, locally they refer to the "white peak" as Derbyshire dales.

What is the name of the statue of the veiled woman at Chatsworth House of DERBYSHIRE?
I have seen some poor quality pics of it online but have become fascinated by it. Does anyone know the actual name of it or know of any better quality photos of it? I tried looking on the Chatworth House website but couldnt find any other info about it. Please help, Im dying to know.
Its also featured in the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice when Elizabeth Bennet tours Mr. Darcys house.
I emailed Chatsworth House and they emailed me with enough info to satisfy my curosity :)
Thank you for your enquiry about the sculpture as seen in the film of Pride and Prejudice.
The sculpture is in fact by Raffaele Monti and is called the Veiled Vestal.
The 6th Duke of Devonshire ordered the Veiled Vestal statue when he visited Raffaele Montis Milan studio in October 1846. The statue, which
is carved from three pieces of statuary marble, was delivered to England in the following year, most probably to the Dukes house at Chiswick,
London. It came here as recently as 1999 from another property owned by
the Duke at Eastbourne, in Sussex, England. It has become a favourite of our visitors. The realistic veil is the result of straightforward carving of the marble, making use of its translucency to achieve its effect. Such
veiled figures came to be seen as Montis speciality, which others were
soon to take up. The veiled figures derived from an 18th century
tradition, pioneered by the sculptor Antontio Corradini.
With best wishes,
Jane Wood

How can I travel to DERBYSHIRE from London?
Weve been searching for train or bus tickets to get to Derbyshire but everything is really confusing and unclear. I was hoping to get some specific websites or fares or anything that could help out with planning our trip. We would like to leave on Saturday April 13th and come back on the 15th and go to Buxton in Derbyshire.
Thanks!
Answer: Train is your best bet. You'll need to take a Virgin train from Euston to Stockport and then change trains there for a Northern Trains service for Buxton. It'll take about three hours there (but maybe a little longer going back on Sunday as there could be fewer trains).
You'll get through tickets from:
https://www.buytickets.virgintrains.co.uk
Pay with a credit card and you'll get the tickets mailed to you or I believe you can pick them up from one of their automated machines when you get to the station.
It should cost about £60 return if you get a cheap advance fare leaving off peak. The fares will skyrocket if you got at a peak time - avoid!
Five minute job - nil desperandum! Have a great time.

DERBYSHIRE?
hi, for geography homework i had to find out some things about Derby.
i have answered most of the questions but am stuck on two so i wondered if you could help?
1) Derby is in the East Midlands, but on the border of west yorkshire and manchester, do people from derby speak with a midlands accent?
(i searched google and youtube, but no luck.)
2) As Derby is on the border of manchester, would it be easier for people from derby to travel from manchester airport of east midlands airport?
(i have no idea where abouts in east midlands the airport is!, but i know Derbyshire is touching manchester so they are quite close to manchester airport..)
thanks..
10 points for best answer!
for question two i put manchester airport of east midlands airport, i meant OR east midlands airport..sorry!
Answer: 1/ Yes,people from Derby talk with a midlands accent
2/ East Midlands airport is around 20 minutes from Derby at Castle Donnington, where as Manchester airport is about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
I know these things because I live there.

Does anyone know where I can buy a kitten around DERBYSHIRE?
Ive looked on the internet and people are selling kittens for ridiculous prices of £400-£600 my mum bought our two for £5 each when they were kittens! Just wondered if anybody knew of anyone selling kittens around Derbyshire?
thank you
where can i find a shelter? Do u mean like the RSPCA?
Answer: Don't shop, adopt.
There are a lot of homeless kittens/cats in a shelter and they are very cute.
Shelter is better because:
1/ people actually care about the animal
2/ they don't breed cats recklessly for money
3/ you don't pay ridiculous prices
When you say "buy" I assume your looking for a purebreed, but honestly, if your looking for a pet, shelters don't make bad pets, actually sometimes they are better
I think www.petfinder.com is an american website were you find shelter dogs and cats, only in america but I'm not sure, try it. Also, even if the finding a pet thing is only for america there is still valuable info you can use. I hope you find a good kitten wherever Derbyshire is Britain?England?
Ok, hope you find a cute kitten.
