Does anyone know someone who died from the SHOOTING AT VIRGINIA TECH?
Today a gunman killed 33 people today at Virginia Tech collage. Does anyone know someone who died? Or do you know someone who witnessed this or goes to that school?
Answer: i don't but i feel really sorry for those who had. i know what it feels like to lose someone (my mother and 3 grandparents before i was 14). i can only pray that national security now becomes tighter because of this great tradgedy and i am so sorry for those who have. maybe now the schools will make it so that you can only get in with an id card, and give one out to favulty, staff, students and parents/guardians. that may have prevented it.
i really am sorry for anyone who lost someone.

3 hours ago ... Gunshots were reported near a parking lot on the Virginia Tech campus on Thursday, according to a Twitter alert issued by the school.
Can someone give me more information about the SHOOTING AT VIRGINIA TECH?
Answer: The Virginia Tech massacre was a school shooting consisting of two separate attacks approximately two hours apart on April 16, 2007, that took place on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, Virginia, United States. The perpetrator, Seung-Hui Cho, killed 32 people and wounded many others[1] before committing suicide. The massacre is the deadliest peacetime shooting incident by a single gunman in United States history, on or off a school campus.[2]
Cho, a senior English major at Virginia Tech, had been diagnosed with and was treated for a severe anxiety disorder in middle school and continued receiving therapy and special education support until his junior year of high school. While in college in 2005, Cho had been accused of stalking two female students and was declared mentally ill by a Virginia special justice.[3] At least one professor had asked him to seek counseling.
The attacks received international media coverage and drew criticism of U.S. laws and culture from commentators around the world.[4] It sparked intense debate about gun violence, gun laws, gaps in the U.S. system for treating mental health issues, the perpetrator's state of mind, the responsibility of college administrations,[5] privacy laws, journalism ethics, and other issues. Television news organizations that aired portions of the killer's multimedia manifesto were criticized by victims' families, Virginia law enforcement officials, and the American Psychiatric Association.[6][7]
The massacre prompted rapid changes in Virginia law that had allowed Cho, an individual adjudicated as mentally unsound, to purchase handguns without detection by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). It also led to passage of the first major federal gun control measure in more than 13 years, a law that strengthened the NICS, which was signed by President George W. Bush on January 5, 2008.[8]
The Virginia Tech Review Panel was a state-appointed body assigned to review the incident. The panel's report criticized Virginia Tech administrators for failing to take action that might have reduced the number of casualties, reviewed gun laws, and pointed out gaps in mental health care as well as privacy laws that left Cho's deteriorating condition in college untreated.[1]

Based on my current knowledge, I knew its not caused by the former president.

What do you think you wouldve done in the disastrous shooting that occurred earlier at Virginia Tech?
First of all, my gravest condolences to any and all people and families who were affected by the Shooting at virginia tech on the morning of Monday, April 16. My prayers go out to all of you and those who were killed. However, thats not what this question is about.
After watching a lot of the news coverage focused on the VT shooting, Ive heard a few brief interviews with students, some of whom demonstrated great courage in the face of danger - helping others wounds, holding down the doors to keep the shooter out, etc. There are also students who managed to find a way out of harms way as soon as possible.
There is no shame in either of these acts; I admire one just as much as I admire the other. However, being a full-time University student myself, this really got me thinking: What would I do in that kind of situation?
Of course, theres no substitute for real life, but in any case, what do you think you would have done if you were placed in a situation like that?
Answer: Well, on a college campus, where carrying a concealed weapon even if you have a concealed carry permit, is forbidden, I'd have been screwed. But anywhere else, I would shoot the a**hole.

Look at the Virginia Tech Shooting. Why are Americans so caught up in ignorant personal political motives?
I hate the fact that in this country, America, we are so individualistic and self-rightgeous that we sit here and debate things like abortion, gun control, global warming and war that the rest of the world has already decided on. THEY ALREADY COLLECTIVELY WORKED TOGETHER AND DECIDED GUNS ARE WRONG ABORTION IS OK GLOBAL WARMING IS A PROBLEM AND IRAQ IS A FAILUE. WHEN will AMERICANS WAKE UP? Why in the world are Americans always debating things. Having guns is stupid, abortion is permissable except 2nd 3rd trimester unless rape or incest and noone knew. I mean people wake the hell up and listen to the world. WE in America NEED TO WORK TOGETHER AND FIX THINGS IN THIS COUNTRY. THIS whol OMG hes a liberal or OMG hes conservative thing is stupid. People are dying and storms are getting worse because Americans are too individualstic and ignorant people keep talking about what they want in their own self-absorbed minds. WHEN will you people that disagree with Europe, Asia, wake up?
Answer: I agree with you. You've said everything that I wanted to say. Maybe people are too bored with their lives so they make up some crappy things to debate on. Abortion is a very personal choice, a child's life would be 100 times more miserable if he/she was born but was unwanted by the family than the termination of early pregnancy. Of course, a mother shouldn't be allowed to abort her baby if it was purely of the baby's sex, or after the first trimester. If someone got pregnant accidentally, she should be able to make a decision during her first trimester whether not to keep the baby.
Some people are just stubborn and ignorant. But if every unwanted baby was born, this country will have millions of messed up kids and homeless children.
Abortion is a decision that a mother makes when she feels that she cannot give a normal life to her baby, if she has the baby, she probably has to give up her future and the baby is not going to grow up happily like other normal kids. This is UNFAIR to the child.
I hate those groups of ignorant people trying to show the horrible images of an abortion procedure, that is not the way you voice your opinion out!! What do you want? Make people sick looking at those pictures? Or you want to make a horror movie? What are you trying to say? Can you put them in words and tell your audiences? Stop showing those bloody horrifying pictures to the public, this only shows how IGNORANT and STUPID you are.

How sad the SHOOTING AT VIRGINIA TECH?
My heart breaks for the students, family, facility, and everyone involved or touched by this horrendous shooting.
I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and sorrow they have to bear not only today but in the following days to come.
I pray that God will bring some good out of this horrible crime and that the world pays attention to this crime in order to prevent it from happening again.
The victims along with their friends and family have a long road to travel in the healing process.
Hopefully they can take peace in knowing their loved ones are in a place now where they feel no pain. May they hold onto this in the coming days and draw strength from it.
May you all know the world is praying for you and you are being held close to everyones hearts and prayers.
When will all this hatred end?
Answer: i know it is so sad , no one should go through this. i can imagine how the students that were in the classrooms, that could've been hit, and surrounding their classmates that have been shot. they're innocent human beings there just to make their lives better by investing their time and a lot of money into a college education

what changed after the virginia tech shooting at schools and other colleges?
What do they do now that would have prevented things like this
Answer: Oddly, very little.
In Virginia (where the shooting occurred) many schools have instituted new warning systems and have incorporated text messaging into the system. If there is an alert you will get a text message.
Most schools now practice fire drills more often. Now, a fire drill involves the evacuation of a building so it can be used in case of a fire or in case something occurs that requires the evacuation of the building.
However, there have been drawbacks. Virginia Commonwealth University actually got a law passed making it illegal to possess a weapon on school grounds. This is problematic because VCU is an urban campus and you have a mix of private property in between the school buildings. So, lots of non VCU people are in the area and it's very spread out so you can go days without seeing a campus police officer. Also, VCU used to have one of the top criminal justice programs there and the law has made it difficult for many part time students who are currently in various aspects of the LE field. This can be suggested as a concept of focusing on the law abiding (which is easily regulated) as opposed to focusing on those active in breaking the law. Thus this is considered a "Mala Prohibita" argument (Bad because it is not allowed) versus a "Mala In Se" (Bad in itself) situation.
With the recent budget crisis, many schools have cut back on their manpower in their security/police departments. In any budget issue, employee pay and benefits is the biggest budget issue and the one most easily managed by laying off personnel.
Now a lot of the security is done just to make people feel safe but really does not offer very strong protection or it is security that is easily avoided. This is a situation of creating a "show" and having the appearance of providing safety which gets a larger response from the public. However, there was a paradigm shift in which law enforcement will now actively engage a shooter as opposed to setting up a perimeter and attempting to treat it as a hostage situation. This is both good and bad. This creates a police intervention of the situation as soon as they get on scene but is bad because the situation is confronted without proper intelligence on the issue and also without proper backup giving the advantage to the criminal.
I hope that this helps.
Good luck!
