MONKEY BREAD Recipe Without a bundt pan?
I am going to make Monkey bread but i do not have a Bundt pan. Instead of going out to buy one is there a way to make it without one?

Answer: I do not have a bundt pan either, i just use a 9inch round cake pan. You can stack it up somewhat like a bundt pan would look. Always works fine for me!

Ingredients
2 loaves white bread, uncooked (freezer section of grocery store)
1 stick melted butter (add more if needed)
2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
Directions
1. Thaw bread dough overnight in refrigerator. When soft, use kitchen scissors to cut it up into one inch pieces. Dip dough into melted butter, then roll around in sugar/cinnamon combination until covered.
2. Line bottom of a bundt pan and then start to layer in evenly. Cook at temperature recommended on dough packaging for about one hour until golden brown and hard on the top. Remove from oven and flip over on to a larger platter. Let sit with pan on top for a few minutes while the sweet mixture runs down the bread.
3. Garnish with holly, marichiano cherries, candied nuts, icing, or decoration of your choice.
4. To eat, pick apart—like a bunch of monkeys.

2/3 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In saucepan melt butter; stir in brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook, stirring frequently until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour hot syrup over biscuit mixture in pan. Bake until done. Turn out onto serving plate.

Answer: I think you'll find the recipe on Pillsbury web site. I've never tried this but have been going to. As far as I understand spray you bundt pan with non-stick spray, cut the biscuits into chunks, melt some butter and pour over along with some generous shakes of sugar and cinnamon and bake at 350 until done, about 10 minutes.

Ingredients:
3 (12 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough
1 cup white sugar
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup raisins
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9-10 inch tube pan.
2. Mix white sugar and cinnamon in a medium sized plastic bag. Cut the biscuits into quarters and place six to eight biscuit pieces in the sugar cinnamon mix. Shake well.
3. Arrange pieces in the bottom of the greased pan. Continue layering until all the biscuit pieces are coated and in the pan, If you are using raisins, place them among the biscuit pieces as you are layering.
4. In a small saucepan, melt the butter with the brown sugar over medium heat. Boil for 1 minute. Pour over the layered biscuits.
5. Bake for 35 minutes. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a plate. Pull apart and enjoy!
Icing:
Ingredients:
1/2 pound cream cheese
1/2 pound Margarine
1 pound powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Directions:
1.Allow cream cheese and margarine to get to room temperature.
2. Beat margarine and cream cheese together in a large bowl with a mixer.
3. Slowly add in the pound of powdered sugar.
4. After all the powdered sugar is added mix for 12 minutes (do not mix less than that).
5. When almost done, add in the extract and lemon juice.

MONKEY BREAD with bisquick mix?
How can I make a Monkey bread using bisquick mix? I know the ingreadients, but can I use the bisquick biscit recipy as a substitute for the pre-made biscits?
Answer: I don't have the Bisquick recipe but I have my Aunt Doris's recipe using canned biscuits and it is very tasty.
4 cans ready to bake biscuits
combine--1/2 cup sugar and 1T cinnamon
Cut biscuits in half or smaller and shake in plastic bag w/cinnamon & sugar.
Distribute evenly in ungreased bundt or 9"X13" loaf pan.
Melt one stick butter-3/4 cup brown sugar-1Tcinnamon.
Pour over biscuits.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes @ 350 degrees.
Let stand a few minutes in pan after removing from oven then invert the loaf over a large plate. The syrup may run so use a large plate or platter.

Answer: Prepare a small bowl of 1/2 c white sugar mixed with 1 tbsp ground cinnamon. Prepare another small bowl with 1/2 cup melted margarine [approx. amount]. Pop open your tube of biscuits and cut each biscuit into halves. Using a standard loaf pan or layer cake tin that you've greased or non-stick sprayed, dip each half biscuit in melted marge and then roll in sugar-cinnamon mix, place side by side [no spaces between] in the pan and then bake in a 350 oven until risen, browned & crusty-gooey--about 15-20 min. on average. Best eaten while still quite warm...it's the sticky that's so goooood!

Butterscotch Pudding Monkey bread
Ready in: 1-2 hrs
Serves/Makes: 8
Ingredients:
1 package (3-1/2oz.) Cook and Serve Butterscotch Pudding Mix,NOT INSTANT
3/4 cup Sugar
1 tablespoon ground Cinnamon
1/2 cup finely chopped Pecans
1/2 cup Butter, melted
3 tubes regular sized refrigerated Biscuits
Directions:
In plastic bowl with tight fitting lid, combine pudding mix, sugar, cinnamon and pecans. Pour butter into shallow bowl. Cut biscuits into quarters. Dip several pieces into butter, then place in a bowl with dry ingredients, replace lid and shake. Start lining a 10" greased Bundt pan with coated biscuit pieces. Continue doing in batches until they are all piled on top of each other in Bundt pan. You mat need to melt a little more butter to finish up biscuit pieces. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven 30 to 35 minutes, they should be golden brown. Cool in pan 30 minutes. Place large cake like dish over Bundt pan and invert. Before lifting pan off Monkey bread, tap bottom of pan good all over the bottom. Lift gently off.

INGREDIENTS
24 ounces frozen dinner roll dough
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 (3.4 ounce) package instant butterscotch pudding mix
1/4 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup melted butter
DIRECTIONS
The night or several hours before, grease and flour a 9 or 10 inch tube pan. Mix brown sugar and pudding mix together. Mix white sugar and cinnamon together. Place frozen dinner rolls in pan a layer at a time. Sprinkle brown sugar and pudding mix over first layer of rolls. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon mixture over the brown sugar and pudding mixture. Spread half the nuts and melted butter over first layer. Repeat with the next layer.
Place on counter over night. Do not cover. Next morning bake in a preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven for 30 minutes. Let stand a few minutes and turn pan over onto serving platter.

Butternut Squash Casserole

INGREDIENTS:
1 butternut squash
1 cup white sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 eggs
1/4 cup margarine, melted
TOPPING:
1/2 (16 ounce) package vanilla wafers, crushed
1/2 cup margarine, melted
1 cup brown sugar
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
Put butternut squash in the microwave and cook on high, until soft, 2 to 3 minutes. Cut in half, scoop out seeds and cube. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add squash and cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and mash.
In a 9x13 inch casserole dish combine 3 cups mashed butternut squash, white sugar, milk, vanilla extract, salt, flour, eggs and 1/4 cup melted margarine.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until set.
In a medium bowl combine crushed vanilla wafers, 1/2 cup melted margarine and brown sugar. Crumble over top of cooked casserole and return to oven to brown.

Baked Butternut Squash With Italian Sausage Stuffing
Ingredients:
4 medium butternut or acorn squash, about 1 pound each, cut in half, seeds removed
3 tablespoons olive oil
Salt, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed and cut into 1/4-inch pieces
1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped, about 3/4 cup
1/2 medium green bell pepper, finely chopped, about 1/2 cup
1 tablespoon minced garlic
4 cups French bread cubes
1/2 cup chicken stock
1/4 pound freshly grated Mozzarella cheese
1/4 pound freshly grated Monterey Jack cheese
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon dried sage
1 large egg
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then lightly season the cut sides of squash with 1 tablespoon olive oil, salt and pepper. Place the halved squash on a baking sheet, flesh side down, and add 1/2 cup water to the pan. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and bake until tender, about 1 hour. Remove from the oven and cool completely.
2. In a large skillet brown the sausage over medium-high heat, about 6 to 8 minutes. Remove the sausage from the pan and drain on paper towels. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil in the pan, and add the onion and bell pepper, sautée until soft, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook an additional minute. Remove the pan from the heat.
3. In a large mixing bowl, toss the sausage with the vegetables, bread cubes, chicken stock, half the cheese, parsley and dried sage. Add the egg and stir well to combine. Season to taste with salt and pepper, and mix well.
4. Divide the stuffing mixture between the baked squash halves, and top with the remaining cheese. Place the filled squash on a baking sheet and place in the preheated oven. Bake until the squash are heated through and the cheese melts, about 25 minutes. Serve hot as an accompaniment to roast turkey or ham.
Yield: Makes 8 servings

My grandmother was from St. Louis MO. and she used to make a bundt-like bread we called Monkey bread(not the sweet kind) does any one know the recipe. It was kind of like a break away buttery kind of bread.

Recipes for making dough for MONKEY BREAD from scratch?

Does anyone know just a basic dough recipe that I could substitute for refrigerated dough? Preferably one without yeast?
Answer: Monkey bread (from scratch)
Dough
1 1/3 cups milk
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
1/4 cup sugar
1 (1/4-ounce) packet active dry yeast (not rapid-rise)
1/4 cup lukewarm water
2 large eggs, at room temperature, lightly beaten
4 3/4 to 5 cups (approximately) flour
2 teaspoons salt
Glaze
1/3 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons heavy cream
Nut and Sugar Coating
3/4 cup chopped pecans
5 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
3/4 cup sugar
Heat the milk in a saucepan until hot but not scalded. Then pour it into a large bowl. Add the butter and sugar, stirring until the butter is nearly melted.
Sprinkle the yeast over the lukewarm water, stir briefly, and then set it aside to dissolve for 5 to 10 minutes.
When the milk mixture has cooled to slightly warmer than body temperature, stir in the yeast and the lightly beaten eggs. Add 3 cups of the flour and beat the ingredients well with a wooden spoon for 100 strokes. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and set it aside for 10 minutes.
Stir the salt into the dough. Now stir in the remaining flour, about 1/3 cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and is firm enough to knead.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 8 to 10 minutes, until it is elastic and supple. Use more flour, if needed, to keep the dough from sticking. Then put the dough in a large, oiled glass or ceramic mixing bowl and turn it to coat the entire surface. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set it aside in a warm, draft-free spot until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
While the dough rises, generously butter the entire inside of a large Bundt pan (it should have a capacity of about 12 cups). Do not use a tube pan with a removable insert, such as an angel food cake pan, because the glaze will run out of the pan.
Now make the glaze by heating the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream in a small saucepan, stirring continuously. As soon as the glaze comes to a boil, pour it into the Bundt pan so that it puddles evenly in the bottom (a parent's job). Sprinkle half of the chopped pecans over the glaze.
When the dough has doubled, punch it down and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for 1 minute. Cut off golf ball-size pieces of dough and roll them into rough balls.
Now prepare the coating. Pour the melted butter into one bowl and the sugar into another and place them in the work area. Dip the dough balls into the butter and then roll them in the sugar, placing them in the pan as you go. Once you've covered the bottom of the pan, start a new layer.
When you've used half of the dough, scatter the remaining pecans over it. Then continue adding layers until the pan is two thirds full. Ideally, you will have used all the dough. If you happen to have excess dough balls, layer them in a small, well-buttered loaf pan or casserole.
Cover the pan with plastic wrap and let the dough rise until doubled in bulk, about 35 to 45 minutes. Start heating the oven to 375º about 10 minutes before the dough is fully risen.
Remove the plastic wrap and bake the bread on the center rack for 45 minutes. Don't worry too much if the top gets quite brown, but if it starts to look scorched, lay a piece of tinfoil over the bread to deflect the heat. (If you're baking a small loaf alongside, it will take only about 30 minutes.)
Transfer the pan to a cooling rack and gently run a butter knife down the side here and there to loosen the loaf. Carefully flip the bread over onto the rack and remove the pan (another job for parents); it should lift right off. If there is excess glaze left in the pan, immediately spoon it onto the bread.
Cool the bread for at least 20 minutes. Then pour glasses of cold milk, put out some plates, and help yourselves by pulling off pieces of the bread. Any leftovers can be wrapped in tinfoil and reheated later in a warm oven. Makes up to 9 servings.

3 cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup margarine
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix together 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon on medium sized plate.
Cut biscuits into quarters and roll in sugar-cinnamon mix.
Pile coated biscuits into a greased and floured bundt pan.
Mix together 3/4 cup sugar and 3/4 tsp.
cinnamon in a small bowl.
Melt margarine and add sugar-cinnamon mix.
Heat until sugar melts and pour over biscuits.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
Let stand for 10 minutes, then invert onto cake plate.

Do you have to eat MONKEY BREAD right away?

Answer: Because homemade breads don't have all the preservatives in them that store-bought breads do, it dries out quickly and is best eaten the day it is made. Same goes for your Monkey bread.
I wouldn't cook it before giving it to your gift-receiver. I would place all the balls of bread with the cinnamon and seasonings on it and place it in the freezer to freeze. Give it to them that way and make a card telling them to leave out at room temperature to double and the instructions to bake it. Then it would be perfect when they went to eat it. They may not want to eat it right away so they could put it back in the freezer and thaw it on the day they want to eat it. But it can't be in there very long or the moisture will be removed from the mixture. Have them use it within 3-4 days in the freezer.
