BOXING.........................?
This guy a bit younger than me said in college he could knock me down in college. Before i know i agreed to a Boxing match with just gloves in the gym. we are both 18. Iam stronger but shit stamina but he has speed and good stamina. And has done Boxing before.
Any tips on how to win this......
Any tips on winning agai
it.s in about 3 hrs
I rang the idiot...didnt wanna come...
guess he was scared
Answer: How much time do you have to get ready? If not much... it's not likely that you're going to feel very good after the game. An experienced fighter will usually crush someone that is a brawler. Speed and stamina beat power. You can't hurt what you can't hit. Hence the importance of knowing how to box.
Obviously, it would be best if you had several months to prepare and could spend a couple hours every day in the gym working on your stamina, hand speed, and balance. Even then, you would barely qualify as a Boxing novice. But hey, you've always got a puncher's chance.
If time is short, go to a Boxing gym and hire a personal trainer for an hour. Have him show you how to punch effectively and where to put your arms hands for defense. Balance and technique can help you make decisions under duress. It's not like a bar brawl. Find a few basic strikes that you can deliver with consistency.
When the fight starts, don't chase. Let him come to you, and then hold your ground. Saves your wind. Keep your hands up. Keep your chin down. Don't back up. And let your hands go (punch!). If you're not conditioned for fighting, you will burn up on adrenaline in the first few minutes. After that, you can't breath or punch worth a damn.
And then, post it on YouTube! ha.

What are the qualities of a casual BOXING fan, BOXING aficionado, and a true BOXING fan?
What are the differences between the terms that certain Boxing fans define themselves and others by?
What do you believe defines any and all of these three designations?
Do you like or dislike being defined by one of these or any labels.
How would you define yourself as a Boxing fan?
Answer: good question.
a casual Boxing fan is someone who watches Boxing, talks about it over coffee and then return back to their normal lives. much like a tv person, looking at the latest news jumping into the band wagon just to fit in the frenzy.
a Boxing afficionado is someone who watches Boxing, follows a certain Boxing personality and talks about Boxing on a lighter scale. he/she can give opinions and not go into deep. can step in the band wagon or not depending on the trend. can be seen here on this section occasionally, and practically wished sometimes to be a boxer. sometimes a die hard fanatic of a boxer/s.
a true Boxing fan is clearly defined as living with the sport. he wakes up and breathes and walks and talks about Boxing. would go indepth with every fights and rounds and can give analysis and opinions on dream matches or controversies and considers other opinions different from him/her. wise and disciplined as the sport in its truest essence.
i'm not affected with the labeling as such, since these three definitions are a bit general and society is too stratified for them to belong in your definition.
i define myself in between the afficionado and the true Boxing fan.

Is BOXING and wing chun a good combination for self defence? Or would I be better off with MMA and Krav Maga?
I want to be able to actually practise fighting under sports rules with say Boxing or MMA or muay thai etc
But I also want to learn a martial art that isnt limited by sport rules!
Whats a good combination in your opinion?
Answer: It's a personal choice, but Krav Maga would be excellent if integrated with MMA, Boxing, or Muay Thai.
MMA will give you more skills overall than Boxing; grappling, Boxing, kicking. The transition of MMA skills into Krav Maga is very formidable with regards to self defense.
I've been practicing Krav Maga for years. Some of the most formidable kravists I know have a MMA, Boxing, or Muay Thai, or BJJ background.
Best of luck.

You may start training right away. Tell the trainer that you were on a hiatus and he will give you a lighter routine. It is okay not to put much force in punching for a few sessions as this might cause you to faint or light-headed or whatever the term is.

How does scheduling for BOXING fights in major organizations work?
By major organizations, Im talking about International Boxing Organization, World Boxing Organization, World Boxing Association, etc.
Can a fighter challenge another fighter for an official match or are all matches already properly scheduled?
Answer: There are certain fights that are mandatory for a champion to take because of mandatory challengers in which a fighter has won title eliminators to earn a shot at the title. Not ALL championship fights are mandatories though- sometimes a fighter will opt to make an optional defense when he does not have to make a mandatory defense. A champion can defend against any fighter who is ranked in the top 25 of that particular sanctioning body but the sanctioning bodies can sometimes make exceptions for unification bouts.
The only time that the sanctioning bodies schedule matchups is when a champion must make a mandatory defense and the promoters cannot come to an agreement as to where the fight should be held or what the purse split should be- in those cases, the sanctioning body will call a purse bid in which the the promoter with the highest bid will determine where the fight is to be held and in most cases, it is customary that the champion receive 75 percent of the purse while the challenger receives 25 and in cases where the title is vacant, both fighters will receive 50 percent although there can be exceptions to these rules. In cases where a fighter moves up or down in weight to challenge for a title but already owns a title in another weight class, the fighter will have a set amount of time to determine which title he wants to keep.
An example of a non-scheduled bout would be the Foreman-Cotto bout- Foreman is making an optional defense of his junior middleweight title because Cotto is not his mandatory challenger but since Foreman's mandatory defense is not due for a few months, he has the opportunity to take on Cotto in a big opportunity for him. An example of a mandatory would be the 2 fights in Germany this Saturday- Sebastian Sylvester is making a mandatory defense of his middleweight title against Roman Karmazin and Steve Cunningham is fighting Troy Ross for a vacant cruiserweight title. If Sylvester didn't want to face Karmazin, he would have been stripped of his title and Karmazin would have faced the number 2 contender according to that sanctioning body for the vacant title.

Is BOXING Day considered a religious holiday?
I dont really know the roots, but I was wondering if it not politically correct to wish someone a Happy Boxing Day. Like theres some religion or group that might get offended by that?
I wouldnt think so - its just a nutso shopping day, right?
Answer: Not really
Boxing day is just a day to put a few things in a box and give them to the poor.
But now days it has became a day to put the gifts in the box and take them back to the shop and then buy them again for a cheaper price.

How come the BOXING community labels the current heavyweight division is in terrible shape?
Ive heard from everywhere including editorials, articles, guys from the Boxing club, and even here on y! answers that the heavyweight division is in shambles. but why is it that bad? the several Boxing organizations mess up every division, so whats the reason to say the heavyweight division sucks and it isnt like it was back then?
Answer: To me it's just two big guys slugging at one another. There is no Boxing in it........well for 90% of the fighters that is. I truly feel that the Klitcho's need to fight each other. Then and only then I feel that the division maybe saved just a little. I wouldn't mind seeing which brother will get the best of the other.

How come someone from one BOXING organization can hold a title from another?
Lets say Boxer A is in the WBC (World Boxing Council.) He weighs 190lbs, so he would be in the Junior Heavyweight division. He wins the WBC Junior Heavyweight Championship, yet also hold the World Boxing Organization (WBO)s Junior Heavyweight title at the same time. How can they do this?
Answer: They can hold titles in more than one weight class. It is perfectly allowed, it's been done before by plenty of people. You just have to come back up or down to defend the titles against the number one contenders every six months. But it gets tiring very fast which is why things like this don't last very long and they often choose to vacate one. Also after a while the two organizations will make you pick after it starts to affect their business. But as long as you the necessary defense it is allowed.
