Answer: I think Mike Singletary has most of the say in personnel matters anyway, but the timing of this really bizarre. Like you said, the draft is little more than a month away. However, the 49ers, like all NFL teams, have several scouts that have been in the business for years. The 49ers may be less experienced in the front office now, but the people giving them information know what they're doing.

Answer: They're lawsuit is going to get decided in favor of the 49'ers. A ticket is a license to attend an event provided that you comply with certain conditions - ie, pay a fee, etc. Now getting frisked is a part of those conditions. Its an unfortunate necessity in the world we live in, and I think that other peoples' right to be free from thugs with guns / knives / etc. trumps the Sheehans' right to be free from a pat down. More to the point - this is a stupid lawsuit. I hope their attorney is getting paid by the hour.

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers Monday night game was interrupted when the power went out at the 49ers home stadium Candlestick Park, after an earlier outage at the stadium, a team official said.

Good/Bad news for 49ers fans?

Sources out of San Francisco are reporting that wide receiver Michael Crabtree has finally signed with the 49ers. The 49ers selected Crabtree with the 10th pick in this years draft but he has been holding out ever since. Crabtree is reported to have signed a six year deal, which will be a relief to all Niners fans. However no news on the money Crabtree will be taking home, I would image its more than the $20 million they offered after draft day.
Answer: Crabtree is earning 5 years for about 20 million (16 is guaranteed) It's good news because they need something to go with that runningback and that defense. He won't be a problem for the rest of the year. Remember how Vernan Davis was? Haven't heard a peep from him all season. Also, don't forget that Singletary heldout TWICE in his career. He understands Crabtree's position better than most.

Answer: Even with all of the well rounded talent they have, it depends if they can finally resolve their QB and O-line problems, after 9 long years. Even if Jim Harbaugh does end up doing a good job, there's only so much he can do if he doesn't have a QB that can at least function in a mediocore level. It's so funny to me seeing how all the other teams when they lose their franchise and star QB, they can develop or find a decent QB to step up in a matter of weeks and become a franchise potential QB. While the Niners and Raiders have been juggling around for almost a decade and have yet to find that person.

Sporting News has picked the 49ers to win the division this year. They are obviously one of the most improved teams in the NFL, with arguably the best offseason of any team. Im a 49ers fan and will be dissapointed if we dont make it with the improvements over the past 2 years...who else thinks they can make it as im sure there are doubters.
Answer: They'll make the playoffs as the division winner. They have Seattle's number and Alex Smith looks great this preseason. Gore's hand injury might be a blessing that saves him some wear and tear. Jackson is a legit no. 1 WR if he avoids injury, and even then they've still got Vernon Davis, who happens to be the most physically gifted player at the TE position in history. St. Louis is a bigger threat than Seattle, as their D looks much improved with Carriker in the middle of the d-line. Seattle's too inconsistent and Arizona has a new coach and is a year or two away from contending in the division. So, yes, the San Francisco 49ers will make the NFL playoffs this year.

The 49ers first round pick to the Pats?!?!!?

Ok so its not completely news...but think about it in my terms shall we? The Pats fine for spy gate: 500,000 for Belicheck 250,000 for Pats Lost of first round draft pick if playoffs Lost of second and third pick if missed playoffs. Now my question...the 49ers gave their first round draft pick to the Pats so they could get Staley...he will play right? Anyway, as I see it, with Smith out...the chances of the 49ers having a top 5 pick are really starting to grow. I personally have little faith in Dilfer after last weekend... So here is my question...is it fair for the Pats to lose their first round draft pick...could be 32nd overall, but get a potentially top 5 draft pick in the first round, or should it be they lose their highest first round draft pick?!?!?!?! Please, let me here your thoughts, details always welcome. Would love to hear if I am right or wrong, and any debate on the matter is welcomed. Good luck!!
Answer: First thing you need to understand is that the Patriots only get one first round pick, which they will lose this year. The 49ers also get a first roundd pick this year which they have signed the rights over to the Patriots, therefore Goodell cannot take the 49ers 1st round pick just because the patriots got punished. I'd say top 10 not necessarily top five, but anyways like it or hate it as I do, that's why the Patriots are a dynasty and other teams are struggling to keep their heads above water. The best front office in the NFL. In theory you're right, the 32nd pick is basically just a second rounder, but legally it just can't happen.

What does this mean for the 49ers?

Well, as I was listening to the radio out here in the Bay Area, I heard reports about Alex Smith. If you dont know, let me help you. He went out last week with a seperated shoulder. That was origionally going to keep him sidelined for 2 weeks. Anyway, as I was listening to the radio, last reports I heard, was that this could keep him out for the entire year. He is going to get a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews in LA, and hopefully its good news. My question is...What happens to the 49ers if Smith is out for the year? Can Dilfer actually do something, or do we need to sign a FA QB? Details please. 11 pts for best answer. Thank you ...Leftwich plays in ATL...he got signed there weeks ago... Crap...I forgot the Pats got the 49ers first round pick...New question!!
Answer: It means several things: 1. Dilfer is a game manager. IF they don't put him in a position where he has to make a play to win, he can be reasonably effective. 2. Unless Vernon Davis and Darrell Jackson are both healthy, teams are going to line 8 in the box and beat the snot out of Frank Gore. Hence, Dilfer will be put in a position where he has to do something good to win. Trouble. 3. They could really use Norv Tuner as an O-coordinator right now. 4. Separated shoulders often mean damage to the rotator cuff, or other structural damage. Don't be surprised if Smith is indeed done for the year. 5. If Smith is done, they may more or less punt for the season if they lose their next couple of games. 6. Daunte Culpepper is auditioning for a job for next year. Jamarcus Russell is being paid to hold a clipboard. It's just a short drive from Oakland to SF. If the Raiders slide, maybe Daunte becomes available... (OK, I am being funny, but still...) 7. This whole situation smells like a first-class ticket to "8-and-8 City." Keep the faith. It's a long season.

Best 49ers season in the last 10 years?

Okay, so the actual season was a terrible disappointment. But the organizational restructuring has been nothing but amazing. First, the news that the team is bringing back Eddie D. in an advisory role. Then, soon after that, the 49ers promote Balke to GM. Sure it was an in-house promotion, but if you look at the people Balke is responsible for trading for/drafting, hes got a very solid track record. And Balke paid immediate dividends with.....Harbaugh. Its a trickle down here: Eddie D>Balke>Harbaugh.....now we just need a QB.
Answer: I agree on everything but the quarterback comment. A top notch coaching staff could do wonders with someone like Troy Smith, which frees us up to get more receivers and defensive backs.
