Why was Sandro BOTTICELLI opposed to the idea of marriage?
Is there any particular reason why he didnt like marriage? I cant find any solid information for this. I know that he joked that it gave him nightmares etc, etc. Please list a source if you know something.
Thanks!
Answer: Botticelli never wed, and expressed a strong aversion to the idea of marriage, a prospect he claimed gave him nightmares [8] A summary of a charge has been found in the Florentine Archives for November 16, 1502 which reads simply, "Botticelli keeps a boy". The painter was then fifty-eight ........

What were some of Sandro BOTTICELLI compositional factors techniques materials and how does Holy Trinity work?
Im doing a project with my little sister, shes in 8th grade- its on Sandro Botticelli and she needs theses questions answered in order to get an A. would some one please help, i know nothing and i feel like a loser in her eyes.
Answer: It actually sounds like a tough assignment for eighth grade.
Botticelli's style was actually more reminiscent of the Byzantine era than the time of the Early Renaissance in which he painted. The style was linear. Botticelli worked with undulating lines, and his figures frequently had long necks, sloping shoulders and pale soft bodies. You can see many of these characteristics on the figures in the altarpiece 'Holy Trinity', especially the whitish skin, sloping shoulders and sinous or twisting bodies. The women in Botticelli's paintings often had golden hair or fair hair and did not display the appearance of someone from a Mediterranean region such as Italy. You will note that the angels in his altarpiece, 'Holy Trinity', have golden hair. His paintings do not reflect the three-dimensional realism that is evident in the later pictures artists painted during the High Renaissance.
In the manner of the Early Renaissance, form is dependent on colour as opposed to a system using black, white and grey values. Highlights are created by mixing colours with white. Colours tend to reach full strength saturation in dark areas.
Because 'Holy Trinity' is an altarpiece, it was painted on wood. Its composition is triangular. It does not yet show the use of linear perspective that High Renaissance painters used in their works, because all lines do not seem to converge on a single vanishing point to indicate distance.

What are some humanist concerns in the painting Primavera by BOTTICELLI?
Im doing a history project about Botticelli and I need to find some humanist concerns in the painting.
Answer: Humanism in the Renaissance dealt with concepts of human worth and the values of human nature. It's agreed by most art historians that "Primavera" represents secular love (symbolised by Venus, the goddess of sexual (i.e. secular) love, in the centre of the painting). In other words, the painting shows human love being held in high regard.

How long did it take Sandro Botticelli to create the painting , La Primavera?
Answer: The amazing thing is he did it with ONE STROKE of the paintbrush!
True story.
Not a true story, of course. Apparently the history of the painting itself is hardly known. Nearly the only thing certain about it's early history is that it was complete by 1499, when it was inventoried as part of the collection of Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de' Medici.
So I don't think there's a definitive answer to your question.

Why artists like Raphael and BOTTICELLI were more successful than Leonardo da vinci?
Leonardo was more talented and the leading artist in the renaissance. But Raphael and Botticelli enjoyed more success in their lifetimes
Answer: One reason could be that leonardo wasn't as interested in being a successful painter he was interested in everything. He was designing war machines for kinds... painting on the side. Also, he was kind of a slacker. He only finished a handful of paintings in his whole life (some of the ones he gets credit for are ever up for debate) and the ones he did were not always successful. The Last Supper was peeling off the wall as he was painting it.

Cleopatra has had a too thick neck. What do u think of BOTTICELLI/s Venus?
Nobody criticizes Venus , not the Venus of Milo, or Botticelli for their size of neck "too thick?" by comparison to their anatomic harmony of body.
Why?
What do you think about it?
Answer: You just haven't read it yet. The art you mentioned has been criticized to death. The Ideal that is represented in that art isn't everybody's cup of tea.
Keep in mind that modern critiques are written about the art in that era. They hardly ever comment on the skill of the artist but rather on how people viewed it in that time and what happened to it and the artist.

Why is Venus so important fo BOTTICELLI in the "Primavera" painting? what relation can you find?
Why venus is so important for Botticelli in Primaver painting?
Answer: The painting represents the persuit of Chloris by Zephyrus (Zephyr - the West wind of Spring). Zephyrus turned the nymph into the goddess Flora, and married her (Botticelli paints Chloris and Flora as a couple).
Venus is present as the goddess of Love and Fertility, and as the link between nature and civilization.

I am doing a project about Renaissance artists and I dont know who painted adoration of the Magi, Leonardo da Vinci or Botticelli. Please help me
Answer: The 'Adoration of the Magi' was a popular topic for paintings during the Renaissance and particularly in Florence. There they had a Confraternity of the Magi and members of the brotherhood would often dress up as the Magi for parades etc.
Both Leonardo and Sandro Botticelli painted versions of the 'Adoration'.

BOTTICELLIs Birth of Venus: How does this reflect Renaissance Ideals?
I am aware the painting is distinctly pagan and also quite unrealistic for a work created during the Renaissance. How, then, does it conform to Renaissance ideals? Color, movement, ect?
Answer: "Quite unrealistic for a work created during the Renaissance"?
I'm sorry, but Renaissance art was not realistic. It was naturalistic, in many ways, but solely within the context of the classicizing idealism that moved Italian art from the stiff, byzantinizing stylization of the late medieval period towards more naturalistic representations of space and form.
But Renaissance art was NOT "realistic".
In terms of that classicizing idealism, its color, and its refined and elegant classical form, the "Birth of Venus" is absolutely a fine Renaissance work, moving very close to High Renaissance style.
As for its "pagan" iconography, this isn't unusual either. We are still not certain what literary/philosophical concepts underlie this work and the "Primavera," but the very fact that they were probably influenced by classical concepts or late 15th-century poetry that was itself inspired by classical literature is, in and of itself, very "Renaissance". The painting is almost certainly a fine example of art influenced by certain forms of Renaissance humanism. See below:

What is the portrait of a young woman about by Sandro BOTTICELLI in 1480 about?
Its the one where she is wearing a red and black dress. Please answer have been looking for this for days
Answer: I think this is Botticelli's idea of what a perfect woman, from a visual point of view, should look like.
Every detail is as near perfectly shaped and positioned as it could be, from the very round pearls on top of her head, the way her hair has been plaited and arranged, the black and gold ribbon holding her hair in place, even the edge decoration of her dress. He has put an amazing amount of very sharp and defined detail into this painting, in my opinion more so than any other he has been known to have painted.
Everything about this painting is just perfect and that is what he was trying to tell people through his painting.

BOTTICELLI?
who can tell me anything about sandro Botticellis style of painting and how he paints and what he uses to paint?? and what does he usually paint?
Answer: Botticelli’s style evolved into one that was very distinct. His portraits seemed to have a melancholy or sad characteristic to them. Sandro stressed line and detail using them to bring his characters alive – as if acting out a scene. He included in his style a flowing characteristic that would clearly identify work as his. Botticelli also included Neo-Platonism in his work. This meant that he would bring together in one painting ideas that belong to both Christianity and pagan ideas which may have included mythology. One theme that Botticelli used over and over again was the idea of a very sad young girl that was detached from what was going on around her. This theme appeared in many of his portraits throughout his career. Another theme Botticelli liked tackling were the roles male and females played in society. Sometimes Sandro would show traditional roles, but other times, he showed females as the dominant, most important figure.
Hope this helps=)
