How premature is the DUGGARs bew baby girl?

I just read a brief article stating that Michelle Duggar had an emergency C-section this morning, and their baby girl (Josie Brooklyn) was born weighing only 1 lb., 6 oz.! Thats incredibly tiny, but so far they say shes stable. The article didnt mention when the baby was due or how early it arrived.
Answer: She was 4 months early. I hope she is going to be ok.

What qualifies the DUGGAR family to have a television show, and is that how they support themselves?

It seems like gloried overpopulation to me, and being supported how? Well, I suppose if you get enough viewers to buy into that kind of junk. But its discovery health channel. I enjoy the ER shows and stuff. What does having a big family have to do with anything more than being wasteful, just like that crazy woman in California who already had six kids and just had octuplets, and I hope there are no hand-outs because these people make choices.
Answer: no it's not. they have commercial rental properties (and they say this in the opening credits sequence on every show) and they own property that has a cell tower that a few different companies rent. they are very wise with their spending and have no debt. the house and land are paid for, so all they really have as expenses are the utilities (and they designed the house to be very efficient and inexpensive to maintain), food, clothing, and fuel. while food may be a couple thousand dollars a month, the others aren't near that much so i'm sure their monthly bills are less than $5000. with 17 kids at home, including a few teenage boys (aka bottomless pits). that's not bad. and it's not hard to maintain with the income from the sources i listed, not to mention they did write a book and get income from that. the family came into the national eye when michelle was named young mother of the year in arkansas (they might have been on tv before this, but i don't think so). they supported themselves for all those years before any of the shows, when they had 14 kids and before. they've been self-sufficient since their oldest was very young. and having a big family isn't any more wasteful than having a small one, as a matter of fact i bet they "waste" less than the average family considering they buy everything used (recycle old stuff no one else wants so new products don't have to be made for them) and have no debt.

Why does everybody (most everybody anyway) dislike the DUGGAR family for having 17 children?

if they can afford 17/18 kids, than who cares, right? Besides, i dont know why they take all the heat. There are plenty of other families nowadays with that many kids. If you google it, there is a Russian family in California who have 17 kids. Nobody talks about them or gives them hell about it. My family has 14 kids (we would of had 16 kids if it wasnt for my 2 brothers passing away). 8 of us are adopted, but still. Nobody makes our lives miserable because of it. So why do you, when typing the Duggar family into google, find hundreds of websites saying how stupid and irresponsible they are. Not to mention the names they get called. I mean, leave them alone, they arent hurting you (and dont even begin to give me that crap about how the world is overpopulated). I want you to give me one thing, just one thing, horrible in your PERSONAL life that is all messed up because of the Duggars. you cant. haha, baxter, i loved your answer. ive already run into 5.
Answer: Actually, the people in the US complaining about overpopulation apparently don't know how to read. Once the baby boomers start kicking off, we will approach negative replacement. Meaning, more people will be dying than being born. I think your parents rock!!!! Adopting 8 blessings, making a complete family from broken shards, your family kicks *ss!!! I watch the show 19 kids and counting every now and then. The last three times Ive noticed that Jill Duggar is the main Duggar child that does all the interviews. Has anyone else noticed this and does anyone know why? Maybe she just likes doing them the most?

How do you feel about the DUGGAR family?

What are your opinions on the Duggar family? How do you feel about the number of children in this family? What do you think about their lifestyle? The way the children are being raised? Also, would you rather watch an episode of Jon and Kate Plus 8 as opposed to the Duggar familys series? Why or why not? Im just curious to see what everyones opinions are on these families.
Answer: The Duggar are just odd to me. Yet, I love watching their show. Personally, I think 18 children is too many. I work in a school based setting with about 20 children. It's difficult to give 20 children all the attention they need, all the time. I could only imagine what it's like raising 18 children. A few of them have to feel as though they are being ignored. I mean, just watch Jon and Kate Plus 8. On a few of the episodes, they made it a point to bring each child out for their very own, private day with mom and dad. That way, they got one on one attention and a chance to be an individual. I don't think the Duggars are getting that. I'm glad they have strong faith and family values. But, they just seem a bit outdated. I just don't see any of those children living outside the little community that's been established for them in Arkansas. They will marry and associate with people solely like them for the rest of their lives. They could never move up North or out West, I just don't think they'd fit in or every be mainstreamed into a different area of the country. I love Jon and Kate Plus 8. Kate's a little much for me sometimes. She needs to relax. I like Jon, he's understand what battles to pick with the kids. He gets that kids are just going to be kids sometimes.

With the Duggar children considered Generation #1: If the 20th child lives, and all 20 of their children reproduce, having only 2 kids each (and each subsequent generation has only 2 kids each), in a mere 17 generations, they will have over 1.3 million descendants!
Answer: It's g-g-g-great! Breeding for f-f-f-fame and p-p-p-popularity is genius!

Why do people slam Michelle DUGGAR for having her older kids help out with the younger kids?

At least its within the family, you know? Most women go off and leave their kids in daycare pretty much all day and people say nothing bad about that. Why is it so wrong of Mrs. Duggar to have her kids help out?
Answer: In this day and age, it is considered not cool, to have children that you can't nurture yourself. If you want to continue to breed, it should not be the responsibility of the older children, to make sacrifices, to babysit the younger ones. I know that it has not always been that way, but today, it is. Back in the day, people had large families and it was considered normal that the teenage daughter would look after her four year old sister. However, nowadays, it is seen as dumping your responsibility on your teen, and putting her at a disadvantage socially. For example, if your 16 year old daughter has to rush home to babysit here brothers and sisters, this puts her at a disadvantage when here peers are doing after-school activities, and working on their own interests. It also saddles her with responsibilities that she did not sign up for, when you planned on having your fifth child. We are also expected to provide, proportionately more resources, per child, then ever before. So if your kids don't have laptops, and/or can't participate in school activities, because your dollars are stretched 5 ways, society things that perhaps you should have only had two children, that you can provide for comfortably. I know it is dumb, but that is the way it is.

What do you think of the name Josh & Anna DUGGAR chose?

Josh & Anna Duggar recently announced the name they have chosen for their daughter is Mackynzie Renée. What do you think of it? Personally, I love Renée, but I feel Mackynzie should be spelled Mackenzie and I feel its better suited for a little boy.
Answer: Oh my goodness! I hadn't heard that! I'm actually quite surprised. None of the Duggar children have overly trendy names that I can think of, although I don't know all their names right off the bat (well....except Jinger and Jordyn). Personally, I would have thought Josh would have somehow picked up a more....classy (maybe biblical?) taste in baby names. I could see them naming their baby something like "Charlotte", "Katherine", "Lianne", or "Mary". I definitely would have never guessed they'd go this trendy for the first name and that filler for the middle name. I don't like Mackynzie Renee at all. Well, I'll admit the flow is ok, but everything else about it is all wrong! It seems to me that they attempted at "femininzing" Mackenzie. Well, it didn't work in my opinion. The Y in there just makes it misspelled. And I'd even pronounce it different than "Mackenzie". For Mackenzie I'd say "Mah-ken-zee", but for Mackynzie I'd say "Mah-kin-zee". So really, it's not even a name! Renee is rather boring, and it's not overly feminine, which I'd hope a little female "Mackynzie's" middle name would be. If they really wanted to do Mackynzie, I wish they would have given her a very feminine middle name. Perhaps Mackynzie Leona, Mackynzie Olivia, or Mackynzie Rose. Really, I'm not at all impressed. :(

You know, the one with 17 kids? I mean the Duggars have 17 kids and nobody pays attention to them?
Answer: Hi I think its because jon and kates kids are like really cute and sweet. The Duggar kids are quite strange and old fashioned. They are nice kids but they arent like normal kids are they. They have a very different kind of sheltered life almost so i dont think people can relate to them in the same way they can to job and kate. I like watching both thou. Both fab familys! X

Do you think the DUGGAR parents know everything about each child?

I mean with 18 kids and all, how can they possibly keep track? If you took a random Duggar child out of the lineup, like number 12 or 13, would they know all that childs statistics, birth weight, time, likes and dislikes, etc., or do they all just become random at some point?
Answer: No, as they do not have enough time to give the children the individual attention it takes to really know them, sure they know how there children interact in a large group and probably even know a bit of their individual personalities but they are far from showing their children individuality and giving them the attention they need to build there individual talents and weaknesses and bring out their uniqueness. Lets be honest there just is not enough hours in the day for 18 children to be getting everything they need from their parents that is why families like these should not be glorified in the media as it sends the wrong msg to the young,,i mean what is the message...have tons of children and you will become famous for it, forget parenting them the way they should be, you'll be on t.v!!! What a shame!!
