Can I use FAFSA money to buy a laundry bag and bag to wash my bra in?
Can I use Fafsa money to buy a laundry bag and bag to wash my bra in? Would that be considered supplies? Can I buy a drawer thing to put my clothes in with Fafsa loan money?
Answer: of course. Anything that you will need for school. Some kids stupidly accept higher loans so they have more to spend but dont forget you have to pay that back and with interest so you do not want huge monthly payments when you have to start paying them back and interest will be adding on those totals so keep them low, only to what you need and personal expenses and you can even use the loan money for travel expenses like gas or even to go home if you go to school away from college buying a train or plane ticket.

IF you have both parents, what would happen if you only put one parents income for the Fafsa? What happens if you do not qualify for the Fafsa?
Answer: You are supposed to use the income of the parent you lived with the most in the last 12 months.
If it was neither, you use the income of the one that gave you the most support in the last 12 months.
If you live with both parents, you must use them both. It doesn't matter if they file sep. or married filing jointly. You would have to add their income together if they file married filing sep.

It took five attempts for one prospective college student and her mother to fill out the 106-question federal form that would determine whether she would be eligible for financial aid. FAFSA.........?
Okay, Ive already started my Fafsa application. But, I didnt finish cause I had to wait for them to email me my pins. Now, I have my pin number but, everytime I go back to continue my Fafsa application that page takes a super long time to load... (and this is before I enter my pin number)....Right now, I have the page loading and Its been like an hour or soo....
Is Fafsa really that busy...or is my computer that slow?? And how am I going to finish my application if the page takes long to load???
Answer: Must be your computer, are you on Dial? I just tried, typed in Fafsa application and got one right away. The next time you get it down load it, print it out and fill it in manually. thousand of dollars in aid were not used last year because students never finished filling out their applications. It would be worth it to go to your library to get the application.
Remember to apply for as many college grants as you can. You could end up with enough college grants for all your tuition fees and maybe more. Good Luck

What is the difference between Ford loans and FAFSA?
I know they are both federal loans but what makes them different? I have already applied and recieved acceptance for my Fafsa but will I get more money if I apply for a Ford Loan?
Also will the ford loan be more expensive than Fafsa?
Answer: The Fafsa is merely a FORM from which the Department of Education assesses your eligibility for Federal Financial Aid. Yes, all FEDERAL and most STATE aid in the form of either grants or loans come from that form!
REPEAT: The Fafsa is a form that your FA Office will send to the DOE to see whether or not you are eligible for any grants or loans. Grants are NEED-BASED and never have to be paid back. Any LOANS you have to take out will go into repayment mode 6 months after you leave school or drop below 1/2 time.

How long does it take for the school to recieve the FAFSA application?
I filled out a Fafsa around two weeks ago and I listed the school I plan on attending. I checked my account for that school and it says "You do not have a current financial aid application on file." and I have been frequently checking my email for messages from them. Im just wondering approximately how long does it usually take for schools to recieve your Fafsa.
Im currently a high school senior planning on attending in the fall 2011 semester
Answer: Depending on when you're starting, like later in the fall, they haven't put a package together for you.
A school usually gets the Fafsa report, if all signature requirements have been met, in 3-5 business days. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
Give them a call to get a true answer to what's going on.

How can the FAFSA form for the 2010-2011 school year have a priority deadline of February 1st?

Answer: when filling it out choose "WILL FILE" then enter the information from 2008, if it's about the same. Later you can update it with "HAS FILED" and the correct information. :)

How long does it take for a school to receive my FAFSA if I do it online?
My mom is finishing up her taxes now and is going to file them in the next couple days. My first choice schools deadline to receive my Fafsa and the collegeboard profile thing is February 1st. How long, after completed and submitted, does my Fafsa take to get processed and arrive at the school? Thanks.
Answer: Once you finish the Fafsa you have to wait for it to be processed. This means they are taking in your information, seeing if anything is missing. It can take up to 2 weeks if you did it online (usually less). You can log onto your Fafsa and it will say processed when it has been processed. You wont get an email about the processing status, just check daily yourself. Then you wait while they put that information into a formula they used which the result will be your EFC, estimated family contribution. This number is not how much you get or how much you pay. This is just a result of the formula they use and a measure of your financial strength. They will then put this EFC and a recap of your Fafsa in a report called SAR, student aid report. From the time your Fafsa says processed to the time your SAR is ready will be up to 2 weeks (usually less). You will get an email saying our SAR is ready. You just log into Fafsa to view it. They will also send this SAR directly to the colleges you listed on your Fafsa. Those colleges which you applied to who offer you admittance will then create a financial aid award offer for you based on your EFC. The lower the EFC the more financial aid you need based on your Fafsa results. They will then create a financial aid award offer for you. This can include grants, student loans, parent loans, federal work study and aid your college offers and state offers. Usually for fall the award offers will get to you by early mid april by email, snail mail or both. Then you look over the offers from the different colleges, choose a college to attend, and then you will accept and deny each type of aid they may offer you. The way you receive the aid differs per school but federal aid is most always deposited into your college account. My daughter gets hers per semester on the disbursement dates which is about 2 weeks before the semester. These dates she knows because they are posted on her account she logs into. The college will automatically take out their charges like tuition, fees, housing and meal plan and any left over is your refund. They could mail it or my daughters college uses a debit card visa

I am filling out my FAFSA and was wondering how to calculate income tax?
When i get to the point in my Fafsa where it asks to enter the income tax, I entered the amount of income I made in 2007 but it says that thats wrong. How do I calculate income tax without doing my taxes? I wont receive my W2s for another few weeks and I want to get my Fafsa done now. Help?
Answer: It's better if you wait until you receive your W-2 but if not, just look at your last pay stub it will be there. your total wages for the year, it must be your LAST paystub of 2007. If more then one job just add them together.
make sure you use whole dollar amounts, Fafsa won't accept cents, so round it up if needed!

When applying for FAFSA does your financial aid start in Fall?
I have a friend who needs financial aid for this spring semester, and I am afraid that financial aid through Fafsa doesnt start until fall semester. I assume she can get financial aid for summer through the school, but what should she do for spring quarter after this winter quarter?
Answer: She can get it to start in the spring 09. She needs to go online at http://Fafsa.ed.gov and select the 2008-2009 Fafsa. If she is starting school next week and is just now applying, her aid won't be processed by the time school starts, but she can still get it. They can can still process it after the semester starts. If the school wants money before, maybe she can borrow it from someone. Some schools will let you attend classes with an outstanding balance as long as you have fin aid pending.

What does FAFSA do with your parents information?
Okay, so you submit their tax info and social security. They just check that is accurate and the social security is real? Do they run any further information?
Reason why I ask is because my dad doesnt feel comfortable if Fafsa would call his welfare office to check the status of how many household members he claimed if I say I live with my dad and the step mom with my two brothers? I support myself and dont live with neither parent.
Answer: Who do you live with? You support yourself? You need to talk to the financial aid officer at the college you are planning to attend. Tell them your circumstances as far as where and who you are living with and for how long and how long you have been supporting yourself. They will let you know if you need to add your parents' information on the Fafsa.

How do I use my FAFSA to pay for registration?
Im going to register for my classes tomorrow. I applied for Fafsa and it said I could recieve a $5000 grant. I havnt recieved any money from it and I think I have to pay fees tomorrow but Im broke.. Does the Fafsa info just automatically go to the school to which Im applying to? Do I have to pay right then and there or just before the semester starts? (Semester starts in a few weeks and its a community college btw) thanks.
Answer: You ARE NOT too late! If you already filled out your Fafsa for the 2012-2013 fiscal year & it said that you could receive a $5000 grant then all you need to do is go to your selected school & take testing so you can register for classes. I'm a student right now & when I log into my school email account, there is an announcement on the board that says "Haven't filled out the Fafsa for Spring 2012? It's not too late!". The school will be able to pull up the info that you submitted on your Fafsa; the school does not get paid the grant money until after the add/drop period, which is usually 2-3 weeks after class starts. Contact admissions &/or the financial aid office; they'll tell you what steps to take. You should be able to enroll.

How does FAFSA figure the financial aid you should receive?
I just completed my Fafsa. Ive lived on my own for two years but I still need my parents tax information, which I think is ridiculous. Does anybody know how they figure what you are able to receive in financial aid?
Well, Ive already done all this. Ive done my parents tax information, and mine. I just dont understand how they assume that if youre under 25, you still need your parents tax information.
Answer: The dependency requirements were decided on by Congress when they originally built the financial aid model. They believe that parents have a responsibility toward helping their children attain their first degree. That is why it is ridiculous. Ridiculous to think that your parents should help! I agree it does hurt a small faction of students though where the parents are ridiculous and refuse to cooperate with the Fafsa information.
Anyhow. The Fafsa collects information about your family size, number of people attending college, income earned and investment values and spits out a number called the EFC (Estimated Family Contribution). This is the number that decides whether you are Pell grant eligible, and is used by the Aid office to determine your overall need and awards. I'm not going to get into the formula... it makes my head hurt and its been a long week.
Give your Aid office a week after you have filed your Fafsa then talk to them about when you can expect an awards letter. If you have already been accepted, or deposited with admissions, the award letter should come pretty soon after they have a chance to process it.
