Answer: "Self defense?" Some people here on Yahoo actually believe that, or at least that is what they are saying they believe. If commandos were boarding any boat that I was on, I would use anything I could find to fight back, just like people did when their boats were boarded by pirates in centuries past. It doesn't matter that these pirates have a sovereign nation behind them claiming the right to board other peoples' boats. If the Israeli lobby has no influence on American politicians, then why do so many attend AIPAC rallies?

It seems illogical that American politicians- in droves- attend Aipac, only to claim that Aipac has no influence upon them. That is like saying you attend a NAZI meeting and have no NAZI affinities. Or, attending a gun rights rally and have no interest in gun rights. Or, attending an "Independent Palestine" rally and not having affinities with Palestinians. Just how retarded does Aipac, the Chrstian Right, and the New York Post really think we are?
Answer: Aipac is the pink elephant in the room. Even their recent spying activities didn't prompt our bought off (and blackmailed) politicians to require them to register as foreign agents. Neo-conservatives don't complain about Israel's influence because essentially they have divided loyalties. The terrorism thing was great for them, as now they can pretend Israel's interests are ours and lobby our government to fight their wars and accept their forked tongues as gospel. I can't remember how many times some unnamed source was the Mossad and it was false info designed to get us to fight their wars. People need to pull their heads out of their buts and instead of parroting "Israel is the only democracy in the Mideast," they need to closely examine Israel. Once in a while you will get a glimpse of the real Israel while reading Jerusalem Post (right wing), Al Haretz (left of center) and Arab media (can't be classified). But the real bad stuff is written in Hebrew and in Arabic. The sad thing is that Israel's militarism since the land was taken from the Palestinians has pushed the people right into the arms of radical militant Muslims. There used to be a lot of Christians over there, and few militants. And the tiny number of Jews that were there before WW1 got along with the native people. This is about militant Zionism and religious wackos engaged in a holy war with other religious wackos. We as Americans need to recognize that Christians and Jews in this nation are using our sons and daughters to fight their holy wars. Likewise, the people of the Middle East need to recognize that their sons and daughters are being used in service of their religious wars. Ideally, only Christians and Jews should be sent to fight Muslims, but unfortunately they need to use the rest of us as shields. I wish they could have their own states so that when their is a retaliatory Muslim attack, they target only their enemies. Then again, a sword fight would do better.

The official reason was that the old boards "allowed a small number of vocal users to dominate the discussion". I have heard a rumor that there were complaints that too many of the posts were anti-Bush Administration and also anti-Israel. Since the boards were directly connected to news stories, they were read by many who were reading just the news stories - the Bush administration as well as Aipac were not very happy about this, so they asked Yahoo to disconnect the two - is there any truth to this story? BTW, aol news has message boards similar to the old yahoo boards.
Answer: No. That's absurd. What happened was that an attorney in California named Steven Galton became alarmed by some posting on a yahoo message board about one of his clients. He posted a number of times in response, in order to argue his client's point of view. He was then subjected to the usual abuse that one might have come to expect on a yahoo message board. Rather than take this in stride the way everybody else did, he chose to threaten yahoo with a class action lawsuit for not "monitioring" their boards which is arguably a violation of yahoo's own stated policies. He set about attempting to put together a class for his proposed lawsuit and yahoo folded up like a lawn chair. Thus the boards died, and all that fun was killed. All because of a lawyer named Steven Galton. Little wonder that so many people despise lawyers.

Answer: I suppose it depends on the debt service. If more debt can be generated (for which more interest is collected) by an improved economy, then yes, our economy will improve. If however more likely that the economy will suffer under the crushing debt (for which more interest is generated), then the economy will not improve.

Answer: We have a long history with Israel. All presidential candidates seek their approval. Not do do so is political suicide. As for me, I neither hate nor love Israel. I think, our support of Israel has caused us a lot of problems in the middle east. I still can't figure out how in the hell they got away with setting up their own country. But that whole area of the world confuses the hell out of me. I tend to leave issues like that alone. Aipac would have no power if they did not have a very large natural constituency: tens of millions of dispensationalist evangelical Christians who are more pro-Israel than any Jew I've ever met.

The PA is ranked just 12 places below Jordan and one behind Iran; it is rated ahead of Syria (#105), Algeria (#108), Egypt (#120), and Morocco (#125).31 Few Palestinians would trade places with Arabs in neighboring countries. Well, perhaps, with one exception. They might aspire to the standard of living in the country ranked 22nd by the UN – Israel.
