Answer: Children in Uganda who are being forced to become soldiers by the LRA, to fight against their government and their families. They are called Invisible children because so many have no idea they exist, they live and die without record. A group called the "Invisible children" (founded by three college students who went to Uganda) found out about this war and are now trying to help them by building awareness, sending money, and have set up a station in Uganda to help these people. Starting an INVISIBLE CHILDREN club at my school?

Well, I just wanted to know the basics of starting an Invisible children club at my school. And exactly what you do in that type of club (like activities, discussions, fundraising, etc) so i can get a basic idea of what Id want to do as well. Just basically how the club operates. Also, as far as fundraising goes, does anyone know if it is possible to fundraise while you attend a school on a military base? Because I heard it would be really really limited if I were to try and fundraise for Invisible children. Thank you!

Okay Im booking a screening for Invisible children and I need to know some things from people who have held these things. 1. How many people came 2.How big of a venue did you need
Answer: What's it for? Who are you promoting it to? If it's being promoted to a wide audience (ie: the whole city and not just a university or other small sect within the city), then a small theatre will do just fine. If you have an independent cinema in your town, that's probably the best idea. I've put on one screening, but it was a few years ago. I probably had about 150 people attend and it was a documentary as well. You really have to know your target audience, but I doubt that you'll need a larger venue than about 100-150 seats. Definitely try a small, local independent theatre or an arthouse cinema (which is what I used). They're generally open to these sorts of things. Not sure if I was very clear or if I answered your question... Good luck! I wish this was playing where I live. EDIT: I had never heard of Invisible children before this and just took a look through their website. First, thanks so much for introducing me to this organization!! I'll be looking into it some more soon. Second, now that I know a bit more about it, I don't think I really answered your question. I thought you were asking about documentary screenings in general, not specifically one for Invisible children. So I don't know if my answer really helped much, but good luck! It looks like a great documentary. Let us know how it is - I'm dying to see it now but I'm not sure if I want to shell out the money right away to buy it.

Who here is familiar with INVISIBLE CHILDREN? What have you been doing to get involved?

We are in a group of teens working to find ways to help the Invisible children cause. Lets collaborate together. Ideas, feedback, etc. Were thinking of having a screening in the park with an at-the-door donation, and screening the movie at middle schools. Weve contacted Radio shows and were not really sure what the best way to do this is. Help? Even if you dont know what Invisible children is, any ideas on how to start large-scale fundraising for a cause? The money would go straight to the Invisible children organization who then uses the money to build schools, pay for food, medicine, and other such necessities. Besides money though, we are trying to get people to write as many hand-written letters as possible to the Senate--they are forced to read every hand-written letter that comes to them. They cant exactly ignore 100,000 letters about the same thing now can they?

What does the money do for each child? I know that there are so many, and many that are not known, or do not want to be known. I am not trying to degrade your involvement, I am just one of those who wants to know how my money will help "jack" who is too afraid to come and ask for help.

What is the difference between blood diamond war and INVISIBLE CHILDREN?

Hello, I am wondering what the difference is between the war going on about blood diamonds and the Invisible children in Uganda? Are they just in different locations? I know that the war about the diamonds are all about diamonds but do they capture only children? or families? I am just wondering if they have anything to do with each other? any relations?
Answer: The Blood Diamond and Invisible children movies deal with two separate conflicts. While many conflicts and wars in Africa have many similarities, they are still distinct. I don't know much about the movie Blood Diamond, but I do know a bit about the war with the Lord's Resistance Army in northern Uganda and surrounding areas. The LRA rebels capture children, adults, families, anyone really. While it is the children who are usually recruited as soldiers and sex slaves, other community members (adults) are often abducted and forced to become porters, carrying the things that the rebels looted from the villages they attacked. If you want more information about what's going on in Uganda, some organizations that deal with the conflict are Invisible children, Resolve (formerly Resolve Uganda), and Enough (with John Prendergast). Hopefully this helps answer your question a little bit.
