When did American Jews start wearing non-traditional costumes for PURIM?
Im wondering if non-Orthodox Jews in the 1930s would wear non-traditional costumes for Purim. In other words, would some children have worn American-style Halloween costumes or dressed up, say like the President on Purim, or would they have only worn the traditional Moredechai, Esther, Haman costumes, etc. Thanks. This is for a fiction story I am writing.

If not March 8, can I go March 7?
Answer: You can go to the cemetary on Purim, religiously it is not a major holiday, barely made it onto the calendar, in fact.
I mean it is not a "Shabbat" - as with Hanukkah, you can work and drive, etc.The cemetaries would be closed were it a day when it was not proper accroding to religious law to go.
It really doesn't matter what day you go to the grave, though. I rarely make it to my dad's grave on the day of his Yartzeit, but do get there regularly and think of him a lot.

Give me ideas in advance so I may prepare by Purim.
Answer: You don't have to stick with the Purim theme. When I was younger I was an IDF soldier, a policeman, Harry Potter etc. One of my brothers is more creative. He has been an IPOD (great costume), a bag of chips, a bag of gumballs, a banana, a computer etc. My sisters have been Ester and Vasti of course but have also been a Chinese ladies, Hermonie from Harry Potter, a bottle of grape juice etc. My younger brother was a water carrier last year and his costume turned out great.
Go for something unique and original. It will be more fun.

How come everyone forgets the real moral to PURIM?
Yes, its about reading the megillah/scroll of Esther, and costumes and feasting and cellebrating.
But the meaning behind Purim is that Good will win out in the end, in spite of how gloomy and dangerous Evil tries to make it, the Righteous will always eventually overcome their enemies. It is about things looking bad, but the coin flipping and everything coming out right at the last minute.
Im sure everyone can relate to this, not just Jews.

Why is PURIM the holiday it is today?
Why is Purim in the Torah if God is not in it? Why is the holiday celebrated like it is?
Answer: Purim – Festival of Lots
Purim is one of the most joyous and fun holidays on the Jewish calendar. It commemorates a time when the Jewish people living in Persia were saved from extermination.
Purim Holiday Manual
Dispersed throughout Persia (today’s Iraq and Iran), many Jews lost faith in the prophecies that predicted their eventual redemption from exile and return to Israel. Instead of taking pride in their Jewish heritage, they were awed and impressed by alien kings and lifestyles, palaces and parties, and lost vision of their own future and destiny.
The Story of the Scroll of Esther
The story of Esther, set after the Babylonian exile when Persia rules over Judah, is that of a Jewish maiden who becomes queen of Persia, and how she uses her position to avert an annihilation of her people. The book explains the origin of the popular Jewish festival of Purim.
Why we Masquerade
Dressing up in masks and costumes is one of the most entertaining customs of the Purim holiday. Children in particular enjoy dressing up as the protagonists in the Book of Esther, including Queen Esther and Mordecai; other Biblical personalities such as King David and the Kohen Gadol (“High Priest”).
Shushan Purim
Shushan Purim is the day on which Jews in Jerusalem and Shushan celebrate Purim. The Book of Esther explains that while the Jews in unwalled cities fought their enemies on the 13th of Adar and rested on the 14th, the Jews in the walled capital city of Shushan spent the 13th and 14th defeating their enemies, and rested on the 15th.

Do you know any good book about the PURIM (Holocaust in ancient Persia) ?
Ive read this [Megillah of Esther] , now looking for something, either a book or an academic paper, exploring the event in more details, and blah blah blah, any help would be appreciated.
Please note that I do not need something about the current "Purim day" celebrations, but the Purim event that is Jewish genocide (much like Nazi "final solution") under the Persian empire in around 220 BC.
Thank you.
Answer: There was no jewish massacre in Persia. There has never been.
Esther was around in the 5th century BCE.
I have been studying the history of Persia for years and I have never come across such an event.
Perhaps it was under Rome?
Persia was under the Parthian dynasty during that time. Iran was the most tolerant nation during that time.
EDIT:
I researched into this Purim thing and found out what it was.
The Genocide never did happen even though it came close to happening.
Your date is wrong it was around the 5th century BCE.
There isn't much archeological research on it.
It seems like your best bet is the Bible or the Jewish Holy books. This event was not mentioned anywhere else.
Even the Bible and Jewish Holy Books say that the Genocide never happened.

How is PURIM observed and what is the meaning of the holiday?
Answer: Purim (Hebrew: פּוּרִים Pûrîm "lots", from the word pur, related to Akkadian pūru) is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire from destruction in the wake of a plot by Haman, a story recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther (Megillat Esther).
Purim is celebrated annually according to the Hebrew calendar on the 14th day of the Hebrew month of Adar (Adar II in leap years), the day following the victory of the Jews over their enemies. Purim begins at sundown. In cities that were protected by a surrounding wall at the time of Joshua, such as Jerusalem, Purim is celebrated on the 15th of the month; Everywhere else, Purim is on the 14th, while the 15th is known as Shushan Purim.
Purim is characterized by public recitation of the Scroll of Esther (keriat ha-megillah), additions to the prayers and the grace after meals (al hannisim), giving mutual gifts of food and drink (mishloach manot), giving charity to the poor (mattanot la-evyonim), and a celebratory meal (se'udat Purim); other customs include drinking wine, wearing of masks and costumes, and public celebration.
According to the Book of Esther, Haman, royal vizier to King Ahasuerus planned to kill the Jews, but his plans were foiled by Mordechai and Queen Esther. Instead the Jews killed, under royal permission, more than 75,000 of their enemies in the kingdom, including Haman and his 10 sons. The day of deliverance became a day of feasting and rejoicing.

What is the significance of the Jewish PURIM holiday?
Just seen the David Duke YouTube video on the subject "The Purim Celebration of Hate". Can that be true????
Answer: Well Halloween goes back to the veneration of our ancestors and is based on respect and love.
With Purim on the other hand the Jewish religion is teaching young Jews to hate other peoples.
The rabbis do their best to hide this from the gentiles but if you scratch below the surface a bit anyone would find that Duke is right. I would recommend Jews and Gentiles alike who seek the truth to watch Dukes video for a better understanding of something that has largely been hidden.
