Why does Catholic church with Roman Bishop make tall claim that their Pope is universal leader of Xianity?

I often hear this tall claim by Catholics (who are in communion with Rome) that they are the ONLY the true church..They take verses from Bible to say God asked us to be ONE, God handed over the authority to Peter... Remember, Orthodox churches are also using the same scriptures to claim that that they are the true church. You can NOT disprove the claim of Orthodox any more than you can prove yours By orthodox, I do NOT mean only Eastern Orthodox... Answer: First of all no one is trying to claim the veracity of the Orthodox Church to be false. The Catholic Church and the Orthodox share the same founder and the same apostolic succession instituted and ordained by Christ. The Orthodox are a part of the true Church even though they are in schism. However, there is no question that Jesus made St. Peter the prime minister of the Church and gave St. Peter the keys to the Church which is the mark of authority and satisfies the fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah. The Orthodox have always accepted the chair of St. Peter to be the first among equals. Yes, Pope Benedict XVI is the successor of St. Peter and holds the office ordained by God of prime minister which is an enduring office that will last until the Parousia. May we all pray for the communion of all Catholics in the one Church founded by Christ to fulfill the will of our Lord that we be one in His Church. God bless! In Christ Fr. Joseph NOTE: There can be no doubt that St. Peter founded the bishoprics of Antioch and of Rome. He was martyred there and a successor was ordained to his office which continues to this day. This is historical fact. Note 2: "My question is how Roman Bishop is superior to all other Popes of other patriarchates?" I never said he is superior to the other disciples but instead said that he is the first among equals. What I did say is that he was ordained by Jesus to serve the prophesied office of prime minister which is an enduring office for all times. We see this in the Bible when Jesus gave St. Peter alone the keys to His Church. The keys represent the office of prime minister. Being prime minister means that He alone has earthly authority over the entire Church. NOTE 3: The reason that there are few details of St. Peters life in Rome is that He was a wanted man by Rome and had miraculously escaped one of the Roman prisons. No one wrote of his presence there because it would jeopardize his freedom and start a hunt for him there by the Romans. Eventually he was found there and martyred there by being crucified upside down. He is buried under the altar at St. Peters Basilica in Rome. NOTE 4: You are confusing apostolic succession with Papal succession. They are not the same.

Answer: That is more of a philosophy question than theology. I believe Jesus told us that whatever we do to the least of His brothers, we do unto Him. On the cross, Jesus looked to the thief next to Him that repented and said "On this day, I will remember you in paradise." The word remember meaning to make truly present. Finally, Jesus said that God rejoices over one sinner who repents. He knows you by name, and have faith that He is calling you to join Him amongst the Saints in heaven to praise Him and enjoy life forever.

Who is the current Pope of Eastern Orthodox?

Is Pope shenouda III of Alexandria the current Pope of Eastern Orthodox? If not, who is?
Answer: The current Eastern Orthodox Pope of Alexandria is Pope Theodore II, but the title "pope" is thought of differently in Eastern Orthodoxy than in Roman Catholicism. The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, presently Bartholomeos, is the "first among equals" in honor of the Eastern Orthodox Church, followed by Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem. It is a position of respected leadership, but not rulership of the others. The Eastern Orthodox has no one earthly leader. There are the patriarchs of the ~13 autocephalous (self-headed) churches, such as Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, Moscow, Serbia, etc. Of these, one has the title of "Pope" -- which does not mean grand master leader of all the others. The title has be.en used for about 1700 years by the the chief bishop of Alexandia, and about 1400 years by chief bishop of Rome. Pope shenouda III is the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, which is part of the Oriental Orthodox Church, not the Eastern Orthodox Church. Answer: Peace be with you too. I am Christian so my God is the God who made the Heaven, the earth and me. I also believe in the Holy Trinity (one god only). I can only give this as an opinion. A true preacher from God (and all Christians) Glorify God only. Moses, Joshua, and Jesus glorified God. And so does a lot more prophets. I can see a lot from the list that did/does not Glorify God so they are not MY God's preacher. You Glorify God not only in speaking but in spirit and truth.(You have to check their life style also as true preachers practice also the commandments and words of God) It is with regret that Matthew 7:1 said I cannot judge as I will be judged by my God as well. Should POPE SHENOUDA visit the United States?

Pope shenouda presides over the most sacred See of St. Mark Yes, Pope shenouda of the See of St. Mark. I believe a visit by him to the United States would serve the faith well. Most Americans outside of the larger cities can only think Protestant or Catholic and if they think Orthodox at all it is Greek Orthodox. A visit by his holiness would do wonders for this country
Answer: Why not? I don't think Orthodox Christians have a high enough profile in the US, and something like that would bring a lot of media attention. I don't know much about Orthodox Christianity myself.
