The FAROE ISLANDS are often labelled as Scandinavian?
The Faroe islands are often labelled as Scandinavian; but the Faroe islands are far from Scandinavia, not only geographically but even more so when it comes to religion, moral standards and such a basic thing as humour. While Scandinavia at large today is an atheist, humanist society, the Faroe islands are a conservative Christian (Lutheran and Presbyterian), deeply traditional society. In this matter we have nothing in common with modern Scandinavia.
Answer: The Faroes are danish territory and Denmark IS scandinavian, so it is easy to see why someone might might include the Faroes, when they speak of Scandinavia.
But you are right. The Faroe islands are not scandinavian. The people in the Faroes are however "scandinavian"...viking origin. However, a much better word would be NORDIC.
Iceland, The Faroe islands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland...possibly Greenland would be included in the NORDIC title.

Because the British failed to have an influence on the FAROE ISLANDS and the Nordic countries?
The Germans could have major influences in Nordic countries and even the Faroe islands, Iceland and etc ...
What was the reason I want opinions?
Answer: The reasons are quite simple. All those connections between Germany and Scandinavia have started before Britain was a sea power. You might read about the Hanseatic League.
They are neighbours, and if people travelled from Scandinavia to the European mainland they did most likely arrive in a German port. This is something quite usual even today, in spite of all the international air traffic.
The Lutheran reformation spread to everywhere in Scandinavia – but not to Southwestern Germany. You might read about the Scandinavian powers in the Thirty-Years-War. Britain did not take part in it.
Do Iceland and the Faroe islands have more intense connections to Germany than to Britain? I don't know, but they have intense connections to the rest of Scandinavia.
By the way, only a hundred years ago German was commonly taught as a second language in Scandinavian schools. In the aftermath of the wars they abandoned it and completely switched to English.

Why do Scotland always play the FAROE ISLANDS?
Scotland seem to play matches again the Faroe islands quite a lot. Is there some kind of technical reason why Scotland and the Faroe islands always get drawn in the same group for things? Do they play lots of friendlies or something?

do you believe that Greenland and FAROE ISLANDS should get their independence from Denmark?
the most part of the inhabitants of Greenland are American natives or Indians... the Iniuq... one of the thousand of families of Indians who live from Greenland and Northern Canada to Southern Argentina and Chile
they don´t feel theirselves as Danish, and I have heard that they wanna the independence of Denmark
and, the people of the Faroe islands are Scandinavians as Danish, but they don´´t feel that they are Danish, they feel that they are a different ethnic group, rerated to Danish, but different
would you agree with the independence of Greenland and Faroe islands?
Answer: Yes, I would agree that both Greenland and the Faroe islands be given independence but NOT now - because there is a Global Economic Crisis and these two territories are not yet good enough for independence.
The Home Rule given to them is I think enough for now.
And by the way, most of the inhabitants of Greenland are of mixed Inuit and Danish ancestry. And they are not considered American Native Indians / they are actually counted as part of the East Asian race by anthropologists.

Iceland, Bankrupt and Looking for Help, Faults Britain for Making Things Worse
No one disputes that Icelands economic troubles are largely the countrys own fault. I Am Looking For Flights From JFK To The FAROE ISLANDS, But Cant Find Any Results Online. What Do You Think?
I eventually will go to a travel agent to plan my trip to alleviate the confusion, but am just trying to figure out how much the flights are to The Faroe islands. From what I understand, one must take a connecting flight from one of the surronding countries to The Faroes and this is causing me some trouble finding the flights online. Does anyone have an idea how much Id be paying to fly from JFK airport to Norway then to take the Faroese airline over to the Faroese capital in Torshavn?
Answer: I think you should check with a travel agency. I couldn't find anything on expedia, travelocity, orbitz, etc.
The most convenient is to fly to Reykjavik in Iceland and then connect to Vagar in Faroe islands.
Also, you can travel from JFK or EWR to Copenhagen and from there to Faroe islands.
The airline os the Faroe islands is Atlantic airways, they fly to Aalborg, Copenhagen, Reykjavik, London, Oslo, Shetland, Billund, Stavanger.
Good Luck!

where can i buy a FAROE ISLANDS national football team shirt?
i would really appreciate any information on where to buy a Faroe islands shirt
Answer: I've wondered this myself and everyone finds them difficult to get hold of.
Part of the problem is Puma, who makes the shirts. They don't make any effort to sell any of them online.
You've either have to, buy one on a visit to the Faroe islands, which isn't always as easy as it sounds, because they don't make enough to go on general sale. The best time when the new kit is first released. Or make an arrangement with someone online from the Faroe islands or planning on visiting and have them send you one.
Other than that, you'd be lucky to find someone selling a recent one online.

Does anyone know how I can get to the FAROE ISLANDS?
Hello, I am Brazilian, I live in Brazil and I am interested in going to the Faroe islands. I know that Scotland gets around this country. Can anyone tell me if I get to Glasgow Ill have another opportunity to catch a direct flight to the capital of the Faroe islands? If possible also tell me more or less the same as would be in Euro or Dollar so does the value of the ticket there! Thanks!
Answer: I don't think there's any flights from Scotland but Atlantic Airways has a flight from London Stansted to the Faroes, it only operates in June, July and August twice a week, fares vary but none aren't cheap, plan on about $600 roundtrip. The other way you can get there is to fly to Iceland and take the ferry. The Smyril line operates once a week.
FYI the ferry Punk mentions from Scotland no longer operates. That was the Smyril Line but they stopped service to Scotland and Norway. The ferry currently only operates from Denmark to Faroes then to Iceland, then back again stopping at Faroes then back to Denmark and it does it year round. See link below for current sailing schedule. Its generally better to take the ferry from Iceland because its a 19 hour journey vs. from Denmark its about 36 hours, almost double, unless the longer journey is more appealing thats possible.
