Answer: Don't go to Applebee's -- you can go to an Applebee's anywhere. Try Junior's on W 45th Street for a real New York meal.

What is a good bar to go to around TIMES SQUARE for the over 30 crowd?
I am going to New York with a bunch of ladies, and we are interested in finding a bar around Times square that the over 30 crowd would be comfortable in. Something that plays older music and maybe a dance floor.
Answer: Well, that whole Times square area is full of tourists and teenagers, so you won't find what you're looking for over there at all.

Were looking for a place to stay and we found a pretty good looking hotel on West 29th street but it doesnt say how far it is from Times square. Is it within walking distance and if so, how far?

Answer: Times square starts at 42nd street, so 29th street is only 13 blocks which is a quick 10-15 min walk.

How do you get from TIMES SQUARE to NJ Medieval Times?
I am travelling the US very shortly and will be spending some time in NY and will be making a trip to the NJ Medieval Times location.
I cant figure out the way to make my way from Times square to the Lyndhurst castle.
What would be the best way to and from these locations using public transport? Train/Bus?
Answer: My friend the bus is the only way to go. From the Port Authority Bus Terminal, which is located on 42nd Street and 8th Avenue, take NJ Transit bus route #192 to corner of Polito Ave and Wall St West in Lynhurts, NJ. Medieval Times is the just a short walk from the bus stop.

How to get from grand central station to TIMES SQUARE?
my friend wants to meet up in Times square, but i only know how to get to Times square. but i want to meet her at the grand central station, how do i get from Times square to grand central station. id most likely rather walk then take another train.
Answer: Google maps can do a walking route. I put in Grand Central Station and Times square and got a 14 minute route along E 42nd St and W 43rd St. You can also do a public transit route with them and it is 4 minutes on the subway.

Answer: The lawn chairs are located along Broadway, from 43rd Street to 49th Street. However, if you're going to Times square for the Ball Drop, you can forget finding them. That's because they will be removed for the event on Dec. 31st.

What is the cheapest but also nice hotel close to TIMES SQUARE?
Im going to NYC for new years and want to be able to be close to Times square and all the hot spot shopping places. Anyone with any suggestions?
Answer: you should really consider staying at a hostel. a lot of people think of hostels as scary, sketchy places but most of them in NYC are pretty nice and a LOT cheaper than a hotel. most of them offer private rooms and other options than what most people assume. + there are some near Times square. just google NYC hostels and look into some of them, or you can go to hostels.com and modify your search :) it's just something you might want to consider !

What is the best way to get to TIMES SQUARE from Laguardia Airport?
Were not renting a car, so what would be the fastest/cheapest way to get to Times square by subway,bus, etc.? I looked at the ny/nj subway map, and it looks like the 7 subway offers a route, but how do I get to that point. It doesnt look like Laguardia Airport has a subway station for the 7 line. Would a bus be better? Also, we land at about 10am, and check in time for our hotel isnt until 3pm(Courtyard Times square), any suggestions on what to do with our luggage? Any activities/places that offer lockers would be great.
Answer: The MTA's M60 bus goes into Manhattan (106th/Broadway), and stops at all LaGuardia terminals. You can also transfer to the N and W trains at Astoria Boulevard along the way (or the 2 or 3 train when you get to Broadway, but taking a local bus like the M60 from end to end is a long ride). All of those lines (N/W/2/3) will get you to Times square. The N runs 24 hours, the W runs weekdays only. In your situation, just take the first one that comes along; from Astoria to Times square, it's exactly the same ride on the N or the W, with exactly the same number of stops.
The 7 train also works very well; you can access it from LaGuardia by using the Q48 bus. It also stops at all terminals. This bus will stop at Shea Stadium, and that's where you can get the 7 (and maybe get tickets for a Mets game while you're there, eh?). Weekday afternoons/evenings and after all Mets games, the 7 train will also run express service into Manhattan. The express is denoted by having the "7" in a diamond instead of a circle, and the word "Express" below the diamond. Either one works for you, but you save about five minutes with the express. Take whichever Manhattan-bound train you see, but if both come around the same time, might as well grab the express.
The cost of the trip? Two dollars. This includes the bus, and its transfer to the subway. You would use a MetroCard to do this. They don't offer single-ride cards, so you have a few options. One is to get one pay-per-ride card for you all to share, or get a few cards spread out among your party. You can also get unlimited-ride cards for a day, a week, or a month if you will be riding mass transit extremely often.
As for your luggage, I haven't dealt with luggage in NYC before...I'm a native!! However, there's a slight, minuscule possibility (wink, wink) that your hotel has dealt with luggage issues before. Ask them what they suggest. Maybe they can help you out directly. Maybe you can get early check-in. By the time you get there, it might be around 11 AM or even noon anyway, so that might not be such a stretch. If you have further questions about this part, ask away and we'll see what we can figure out.

Ive noticed a lot offer valet parking, do you need to take up the valet parking? Or can you park for yourself for free? If not, what motels offer parking included in the room price that are in Times square?

Answer: Most NYC hotels do not offer free parking. It's definitely not included in the room price. If you have the option of leaving the car behind - take it! You don't need a car in NYC. It's more of a nuisance than it will ever be a benefit.

How is the traffic from LGA to TIMES SQUARE on a Sunday evening?
I googled the trip from LGA to Times square and it says 20 minutes, or up to 50 minutes in traffic? Anyone experience a Sunday evening drive to Times square from LGA?

Answer: The information you provided is for traffic condition during the week (Monday to Friday), there is will take about 20 to 25 minutes to get from LGA to Times square.
Now, why drive in New York City, when you got public transit. You can either take a taxi from LGA to Times square or the M60 bus from the airport to the Astoria Blvd subway station, where a transfer can be made to the "N" or "Q" subway lines (Yellow Line on the subway map), which will take you from there to Times square.
If you're taking the bus and subway, the fare on the bus is $2.25 with a pay per ride (regular) MetroCard, or $29 for a 7-day unlimited ride MetroCard if you're staying in town for a week. You can purchase your MetroCard at any newsstand in the airport or any MetroCard Vending Machine at the airport terminals.
You will get a free transfer to the subway once you pay your fare on the bus with your pay per ride MetroCard.
If you're taking a taxi from the airport, expect to pay anywhere between $30 to $35.

Answer: Honestly, you should just walk up Broadway from 42nd street, and go on 42nd St between 7th and 8th. You'll be able to see everything that everyone's mentioning, and just do whatever interests you. Depending on how much time you have, just go into a bunch of different places. There's nothing special hidden anywhere that you can't see by just going through Times square (except maybe the ferris wheel in Toys 'R' Us).
But I would reccomend these, just on 42nd street between 7th and 8th aves:

Cold Stone Creamery
Madame Tussauds Wax Museum
Ripley's Believe it or Not Odditorium
two Movie Theatres
and depending on what you're into--Hello Kitty store, Yankees Official Team store, Lids hat store, or the Sketchers or Quicksilver stores.
And everything on Broadway like M&M store, Hershey's store, Toys 'R' Us, ESPN Zone, and like I mentioned anything you can se and find interesting.

What area very close to TIMES SQUARE in new york can I stay at to get cheaper hotel rates?
I would like to the area to still be nice, very lively, and just as active as New York City Times square. The rates are SOOOOO expensive in Times square.
Answer: You could try the Penn Hotel on 34th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. They're still expensive but cheap compared to the places around Times square. Also Chelsea hotels are less expensive than Times square. If 100 dollars a night sounds like too much, try Astoria, Queens, it's right on the other side of the East River and a short commute into Manhattan.
