Will The VERIZON GALAXY NEXUS Have Direct Google Updates?
Hello. I am planning on purchasing the Samsung Galaxy Nexus when it comes to Verizon within the next few weeks. I know that there has been a lot of buzz lately concerning Verizon "bloatware" apps and the blocking of Google Wallet. Both of those are unfortunate, but not deal-breakers for me. However, I am concerned that Verizon might also delay future Android updates for the Galaxy Nexus. All previous Nexus devices receive timely updates directly form Google. Will the Verizon galaxy nexus be the same or will it suffer from update delays like all other non-Nexus phones? One of the biggest reasons I want a Nexus phone is because of fast updates. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Answer: Yes Google should be doing the updates. The updates might come out a little after the GSM version but should be done by Google . Think about it even the updates to the OG Droid are done by Motorola they just have to go through Verizon. Google will probably have to play by some rules but the updates should come faster then most other phones. Define timely because remember Google does an update that is then released to a manufacturer that is then processes the update into their version of the OS. Then Verizon has to get their hands on to it and make sure they approve of it. So probably it will still have google and verizon but wont have to goto samsung for their add-on stuff.

Could you please leave me details about the "vanilla" UI (user interface), camera, ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich), 1.2GH processor, and any other features of the phone itself. I would also really love to know more about the screen: size, resolution, type of glass, and how the screen compares to the iPhone 4S, HTC Rezound, Droid RAZR, and any others. Thanks for the help!

What should I get for my Verizon account: Galaxy Nexus or iPhone 4S?
So Im planning on getting a new cell phone this month, mainly cuz I want to get a fancy smartphone. Only problem is both the Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4S sound really good. Ive used both Android and iOS before and also have purchased apps for both OS (android- had my phone stolen w/ no insurance and had an iPod touch stolen as well)
I dig the LTE speeds and the customization that Android has, but I like the simplicity of iOS. Plus Ive had a few issues when I had Verizon TBolt when phone would randomly shut off. But I also am not a big fan that if I get the iPhone 4S that I cant have a phone call and surf the web at the same time.
Ugh.. this is a really tough call for me. Can somebody help?
BTW, There are many reasons why I like and dislike both platforms/phones I just havent listed them all yet.
Answer: I prefer android over apple for the reason that its open-source, that means that the majority of the apps are free, and you get more revolutionary and cutting edge apps, and do things are even only barely available on a jail broken iphone
The android market already has 250000 apps- closing in on apple 500000; some say it will surpass it before the year is over. Also any popular iphone game or game adaptation can be found in the android market for free.

Another great thing about android as that if you dont like something (keyboard, homescreen, etc.) it can easily be swapped without jail-breaking, unlike the iphones one-size-fits-all approach.
Despite the false rumors, The iphone is also just as, if not more vulnerable to viruses as android

Other features only on android
Turn-by-turn voice GPS
Better and larger screen
Here is a big one, add a sd card

More customizable
More powerful hardware

Apple lovers that say that the iphone is made of better quality material? They don’t realize that Samsung, an android phone maker, supply’s the screen, processor and memory for apple devices, so android has the advantage here.
The iphone is pretty, but not durable, drop it once- it breaks, all that glass around it? That was honestly a mistake. Android manufactures clearly saw that, and decided to do with something a little more durable.
Also apple never invents anything, there never “the first”. All they do is steal old technology, give it a fresh coat of paint and mass advertise it as “magical” and “innovating”, thus fooling the mass of the population into believing that apple offers cutting edge technology, that in fact has been around for quite a few years.
So instead of innovating, apple actually hinders technology- after 4 years they still have low-power single core phones, while android, an example of technology in overdrive, has rumored that, after their second year, the release of quad core phones that will surpass even some desktop computers in shear processing power. (now any 2011 android is smoother and faster than the iphone)
Apple should now feel pretty worried; android has passed it in market share
http://www.businessinsider.com/android-iphone-market-share-2011-4
Then apple panics and sues
http://www.dailytech.com/Google+ExCEO+Apple+Doesnt+Innovate+They+Sue/article22190.htm
The funny thing is that apple can’t sue for being the first touchscreen or tablet, because they weren’t,(Nokia fist touch screen, “archos” first tablet) so instead they sue for much more relevant things like, “the rounded icon corners” and “having a flat screen” or “the square shape of the phone”……..
To top it all, if you’ve seen apples 2011 presentation, they blatantly copied over five "new" features that were previously on android.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Droid RAZR, HTC Rezound - Verizon?
I am going to purchase a new phone (with Verizon) within the next month or so, and I was wondering which of these 3 (taking other suggestions too) would be best for me. I know the main points of each phone, but would like to know more. Heres what I know:
Samsung Galaxy Nexus - Vanilla UI, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), zero shutter lag, beautiful (large) screen, NFC, 5 MP camera, 1.2GH Dual-Core
Droid RAZR - MotoBlur, Gingerbread (4.0 in 2012), sleek and tough design, beautiful screen, MotoCast, 8 MP camera, 1.2GH Dual-Core
HTC Rezound - Sense 3.5, Gingerbread (4.0 in 2012), Droid Incredible design, beautiful screen, Beats Audio, 8 MP camera, 1.5GH Dual-Core
I have no preference over the user interfaces of the devices. I believe a "vanilla" user interface makes for great experience, while I also greatly enjoy the look of Sense UI, and MotoBlur. The camera qualities wont be a deal breaker depending on mega pixels. ICS (as all 3 devices will have) will be quite the improvement to Gingerbread in my opinion. I would really love to learn more about the screen resolutions of each phone, as I am very interested in having the best viewing experience out there.
I cant seem to set my mind on one single phone out of the 3. They all have something wonderful that the others dont have. I will take all the extra information on any specifications of the phones. I am taking any ideas and suggestions on which device to choose.
Thank you for all your help!
Answer: Even though the RAZR has a great screen, the Galaxy Nexus will have a Super AMOLED 4.65 inch screen. ALLOT better. I would NOT get the RAZR. i have the DROID x2 and it turns itself off EVERY SINGLE DAY. it SUCKS. my girlfriends Droid 3 has the same problem and same with my moms Droid x2. I have read reviews on Verizon and the Bionic does the same. All motorola phones suck. they all turn off. especially when u have allot of apps. I have 50. The nexus comes out in november (as u probably know) the 17 or maybe 24 or 28. Im getting the Galaxy Hands down. i love the beats audio and the GREAT speaker that the Rezound has BUT idc. The Galaxy nexus has pure anrdoid 4.0 with no bloatware and it will recieve ALL android updates first.

Stay w/ AT&T & unlimited data (& dropped calls), or switch to Verizon for the Galaxy Nexus?
Its upgrade time. I want to get a new Android phone. Should I stay with at&t with unlimited data which my whole family is on, or switch to Verizon.
AT&T (Galaxy S2):
+unlimited data
+free mobile to mobile with family
-dropped calls (Im pretty frustrated with this lately)
-spotty data at times
Verizon (Galaxy Nexus):
+fewer dropped calls (or so I hear, but havent tested)
+First Andriod 4.0 phone
-Limited data plan 2-4 GB
-Calls to family will cost minutes for both of us.
(Cost should be close to the same other than possibly extra minutes and data charges.)
Answer: If you are only eligible to upgrade, you can't switch to Verizon yet. Your contract hasn't run out yet. If Verizon is still offering 4gb of data for $30/month when your contract does expire, I'd switch. That's as close as your going to get to unlmited on Verizon and isn't bad unless you're into Netflix.

However I know that the era of quad-core devices are around the corner and I realize it is impossible to future proof technology. So I ask if any of you know if it is worth waiting for quad-cores or to buy the Galaxy Nexus and get locked for 2 years through Verizon.

Motorola Droid Razr, iPhone 4s, or Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

I am also looking for a phone and I am considering that also. PS. I've been looking at buying the phone on Amazon because it is cheaper than buying it at Verizon. You should look into that too.
