How can a Community newspaper generate supportive letters from their Community leaders for publishing? How would such a letter be written? Would they ask for a specific response? Should they start on the top of the ladder and go for it? How does a Community newspaper hit a home run and land an interview from a well known politician?
Answer: The City Council pays top dollar for advertising and then get nice reviews from the owner of the newspaper.. What kind of COMMUNITY causes do you donate your time and/or money to and why?

I work for a non-profit agency that works with people of all ages and abilities. We are trying to raise money for a state of the art facility for a preschool, k-12 school, 4 adult day habilitation programs, children’s case management, developmental therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and a greenhouse work program for adults, as well as Community gardens, and a handicap accessible playground for the Community. To better our Community by increasing the abilities of the most disabled people in our Community so they contribute to the Community (and have an income), and provide a play/picnic area for all families and children of all abilities. I am wondering what people donate to and why. It seems that there are many programs (grants and private trusts) to assist in things like animal shelters, and parks and things like that that are not such a high priority need for most communities. So why support these programs over programs that assist our Community on a larger scale. Everyone knows someone who is an alcoholic/drug abuser, developmentally disabled, physically disabled, abused, raped, or has children in public programming and or activities, so why do chose to donate elsewhere?
Answer: First of all, who are you to say that animal shelters & parks are not as worthy/needy of funding as your program? People donate to non-profits that directly effect their own lives. I donate $$ to my local Community radio station. It might not seem like priority to you, but it is to me b/c I listen to that station everyday & my life would be empty without it. I also donate my time to Big Brothers Big Sisters, because it's an established, well-known organization and I am directly involved in the life of my Little Sister. Perhaps you need to publicize your organization more. Issue press releases about the work that you're doing, start a direct mail campaign, have regular events (bake sales, car washes, concerts) to get the word out. The more people know about your charity, the more willing they will be to donate to it. Remember - there are *tons* of worthy charities out there in need of funding. We can't give to all of them - it's just impossible. We do what we can afford, so we choose the ones that matter most to us. Don't take it so personally that *everyone* isn't contributing to yours. We have different values.

Public health involves the health of the nation, and Community health involves doctors and other health professionals in a Community. B. Public health protects the health of everyone, and Community health protects the health of all those in a particular Community. C. Public health gives free health care to individuals, and Community health keeps the food, water supply, and general environment healthy for the Community. D. Public health is concerned with the health of individuals, and Community health is concerned with overall health statistics.
Answer: A. Public health looks at everyone from all over. We (I'm an epidemiologist) are concerned with things that may be coming down the pike and hit all of us (like bird flu, etc.). Community health mostly involves doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals that tailor interventions to a particular Community's needs, and they generally don't plan out for "the bigger picture", although they do a heck a job in their locales, since they know it better.

Answer: I'm assuming that you are LGBT yourself. If you're comfortable and in a position to be out, visibility has proven to be a great contribution. You can start a Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA), or Pride group at your school if you're in high school. If you're in college, there's probably an existing group you can join. When there are political discussions argue for LGBT rights. When there are opportunities, stand up for the LGBT Community. If you're not used to this, spend some time with people who are and learn how to do it successfully. Educate yourself on LGBT issues both so that you can help your self, and so that you can be a knowledgeable role model for others. There will be a lot of material in either the school or the local library you can read. If not, there are a lot of legitimate websites you can use. Learn to present your knowledge and experience in a manner that can be understood by anyone, gay or straight. Search for local LGBT groups and find out what they are already doing. Volunteering with such groups is a great way to contribute. If there are no such local groups, look at what people are doing in other communities and figure out which ones you can make work in yours. Online, you can seek out forums like this where you can either promote tolerance or seek to help other members of the LGBT Community. Vote at every opportunity. Vote in an informed manner. And let your representatives know that you vote and what you care about. This ought to keep you busy for a while, and by the time you're done you'll know what to do next.

I was originally planning on going this fall but I am going to vocational school and my schooling for that is over in December. I cant do both because the timing would be awful and i would most definitely start to let my grades slip if i have every minute of the fall term consumed. So i was wondering if you can start any semester other than the fall at Community college. Can you?
Answer: Yes, it should not be a problem. Many of the required general ed classes are given every semester. You may run into a problem with some classes that require a prerequisite that is only available in the fall semester, but i suspect there will be enough other required classes you need to make up for those anyway.

What COMMUNITY service can a middle school aged kid do?

What Community service can a middle school aged kid do (say 11-13) that does NOT involve long hours on the feet, extra walking, running, or being outside for extended hours? She needs Community service hours, but would like to avoid these things if possible.
Answer: there are 2 activities that you can engage in. first one is library. not hard, does not require skill... boring but doable second one is old people's house, AKA nursing home. go there help elders

How does a COMMUNITY or particular block start a COMMUNITY watch. ?

Hi. There has been an increase in crime within our Community and I would like to know how does one begin a watch. Does the police department offer Community watch training? Does such training exist? Do I contact the local police department or another branch of the government. Thanks so much for your help.
Answer: As far as I know you have to go to the police department like you said. I was at a neighborhood meeting where this was brought up and the police department was invited to speak. They said its not a matter of setting up a neighborhood watch but more importantly is what you learn from the exercises.

I transfered from a COMMUNITY college to a private christian university?

I recently transfered to a private christian univeristy from Community college. The teachers at Vanguard Christian University are not very good, and i dont feel right being here. Im doing poorly in my classes, i want to go back to Community college. My question is, after i go back to Community college, and in the near future decide to transfer to a UC school in california, will i be required to show my vanguard university grades to them, or can i just go off of my Community college grades?
Answer: Yes, you will be required to disclose of your Vanguard Christian University transcripts. On an application, it states to list ALL institutions of higher learning you attended. If you don't disclose it, somehow it will come up. If you ever apply for financial aid, you will be required to obtain a financial aid transcript and your attendance at Vanguard will be notated. Also, all institutions are required by Federal law to disclose that you paid tuition, so one way or another, your attendance at Vanguard will be disclosed. Also, if you don't disclose your attendance and it is discovered, you could possibly risk disenrollment from the university you eventually transfer to. I know it sounds cliche', but honesty is the best policy. Best wishes!
