Have U.S. landowners contributed to Native American land lost from illegal government seizure of native land?
Any one who owns U.S. property benefited from the conquest of American Indians through selling, trading and passing down the benefits through money or property to their heirs.
Answer: First off the ancient rite of war that every nation has lived by including the Lakota, which removed the Nation that was here before them, the victor of war gets the land. While there was some chicanery and our forefathers only really won a hand full of battle the Indian Wars were more a war of attrition and the Nations lost the land due to that fact.
Yes, we have contributed to the land, there are more trees than were on the Continent at the time of Columbus's landing. We grow most of the food uses to survive.

How far from the coast, is land lost of sight?
Or even nearly lost?
(I need this information in a story Im writing...)
Answer: It depends on what the height of your eye is. The formula for calculating the distance to the apparent horizon is:
1.17 times the square root of h, where h is the "height of eye". If you're eyes are 4' from the ground and you are standing at sea level than you will lose sight of land at 2.34 miles from shore. There are some factors that will change this number such as atmospheric refraction but this is the basic formula for calculating distance to horizon. If you are standing on Mt. Everest the height of your eye is 29,032 ft. (Mt. Everest has an altitude of 29,028 ft. and the height of your eye is 4 feet) so the distance to the horizon would be 199.4 miles.

America lost the war of 1812?
This question is not a hate question or anything like that, im just intrested why you think so
In the war of 1812 American tried to invade Canada
Considering ALL these facts below
Britain repelled the American attack
Britain took 10,000,000 acres (40,000 km²) from America (the only land the Americans gained was the village of Amherstburg)
British set fire to the White house, along with many other places in Washington.
Thousands more Americans died then British
The list goes on and on and on (couldnt put it all in because its wayy to long)
And on top of all this^^^ the rest of the world agrees the Brits won^^^
Lol, My question is, Why do Americans and American Historians still say Americans won? When they achived nothing, and lost lots of land, money, troops and even had there White house set along with other important buildings of Washington.
Thanks for youranswers :]
Whitehouse set on fire*
And yeah, the British took the amount of land i mentioned above from the Americans^^^ its fact :P
Answer: Did America lose the war of 1812?? No ------ As a result of this stalemate, the two countries signed the Treaty of Ghent on 24 December 1814.In 1813, the Americans gained two of their main goals by breaking a confederation of Native American tribes. By taking control of Lake Erie, they cut them off from British aid, and Tecumseh, the Indian leader, was killed at the Battle of the Thames.Canada also emerged from the war with a heightened sense of national feeling and solidarity. This was later expressed as the "Militia Myth," the notion that locally recruited militia rather than British regular troops bore the major burden of the fighting in Canada and the adjoining parts of the United States.----------------------------The War of 1812, between the United States of America and the British Empire (particularly Great Britain and British North America), was fought from 1812 to 1815.There were several immediate stated causes for the U.S. declaration of war: first, a series of trade restrictions introduced by Britain to impede American trade with France, a country with which Britain was at war (the U.S. contested these restrictions as illegal under international law); second, the impressment (forced recruitment) of U.S. citizens into the Royal Navy (though many of those impressed were British citizens whose change in citizenship was not recognized by Great Britain); third, the British military support for American Indians who were offering armed resistance to the expansion of the American frontier to the Northwest. An unstated but powerful motivation for the Americans was the need to uphold national honor in the face of what they considered to be British insults (such as the Chesapeake affair).
American expansion into the Northwest (Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin) was impeded by Indian raids. Some historians[who?] maintain that Americans wanted to seize parts of Canada, while others argue this was merely a tactic designed to obtain a bargaining chip. Some members of the British Parliament at the time and dissident American politicians such as John Randolph of Roanoke also claimed that land hunger rather than maritime disputes was the main motivation for the American declaration. Although the British made some concessions before the war on neutral trade, they saw themselves as having the right to reclaim their deserting sailors, and also as the protectors of the native Amerindians from encroaching settlers. The British also had the long-standing goal of creating a large "neutral" Indian state that would cover much of Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. They made the demand as late as 1814 at the peace conference, but lost battles that would have validated their claims.
The war was fought in four theatres: on the oceans, where the warships and privateers of both sides preyed on each other's merchant shipping; along the Atlantic coast of the U.S., which was blockaded with increasing severity by the British, who also mounted large-scale raids in the later stages of the war; on the long frontier, running along the Great Lakes and Saint Lawrence River, which separated the U.S. from Upper and Lower Canada (Ontario and Quebec); and finally along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, where U.S. General Andrew Jackson defeated the Creek Indians at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend (1814) and a major British regular army at the Battle of New Orleans (early 1815).
During the course of the war, both the Americans and British launched invasions of each other's territory, all of which were unsuccessful or gained only temporary success. At the end of the war, the British held parts of Maine and some outposts in the sparsely populated West while the Americans held Canadian territory near Detroit, but these occupied territories were restored at the end of the war.
In 1813, the Americans gained two of their main goals by breaking a confederation of Native American tribes. By taking control of Lake Erie, they cut them off from British aid, and Tecumseh, the Indian leader, was killed at the Battle of the Thames. While some Natives continued to fight alongside British troops, they subsequently did so only as individual tribes or groups of warriors and where they were directly supplied and armed by British agents.
After two years of warfare, the major causes of the war had disappeared. Neither side had any reason to continue or any chance of gaining a decisive success which would compel their opponents to cede territory or advantageous peace terms. As a result of this stalemate, the two countries signed the Treaty of Ghent on 24 December 1814. News of the peace treaty took two months to reach the U.S., during which fighting continued. In this interim, the Americans won a major victory at the Battle of New Orleans, while the British won the Battle of Fort Bowyer.
In the United States, battles such as New Orleans and the earlier successful defence of Baltimore (which inspired the lyrics of the U.S. national anthem, The Sta

Neighbors Attempting to Take Back Land Lost Under Adverse Possession Laws?
I have owned a house for 10 years in a small community. I have never had any trouble with the neighbors until now, as my house is now up for sale. There is a fence that was built at least 20 years ago that resided, according to the neighbor, just to the left of his property line, meaning that some of his property was on the other side of the fence -- aka my yard. He had mentioned this to us when we first moved in, but it was also noted that his small tool shed resided on our property. Because neither of us seemed to care at the time, we left the situation alone and continued with our lives. I have now put the house up for sale with published yard measurements and such, including the property that was allegedly my neighbors. After doing some research, it was discovered that I theoretically owned my neighbors unfenced property under the laws of adverse possession in Michigan. However, after going to the house last week, it was discovered that my neighbor had built a new fence and had re-fenced the area in question, a sizable plot of land that is technically my land under adverse possession. He had also gotten the land surveyed by a private company which dug significantly large holes in my yard (unquestionably my yard, not the land gained under adverse possession). I took the survey stake out of my yard and requested that the neighbor remain off of my property. He did not comply with the request and moved the fence to the true property line, not the land gained under adverse possession.
How should I go about getting the land back since it is technically mine under the laws of adverse possession? The neighbor is also infringing upon my sight line without a variance, which is against the law in my town. Would it be legal to take the fence down since it is technically on my property? Should I file a police report? The city was not helpful at all in the situation; they claimed that if I caught the neighbor in the act of relocating the fence, they could have discontinued the moving. However, for some reason, now that it is put up, they cant do anything without me getting a lawyer and taking my neighbor to court, something that I only want to do as a very last resort.
This is in the US state of Michigan.
Answer: The ONLY way you can settle this dispute is to take your neighbor to Court. The police will not recognize a claim of adverse possession - this is a judicially created concept that will have to be entered as a judgment by the courts in order for it to be legally recognizable.
I'm sorry for your situation, but a lawsuit seeking declaratory relief is your only option to get the land back.

Does it take 309 years to recover from a lost land and ruler? Why did the people of the cave?
why did they wait 309 years till the evil was gone from the land? Is Allah SWT telling us something about the amount of time things take for us, to heal with the land?
Answer: Salam. Yes really in line with the qur'an surah 18 Al Kahf (Cave) verse 25,Allah says that they lived in the cave for 300 years plus 9 years. They run into the cave because they were chased by the cruel ruler at their time. They made du'a to Allah as stated in verse 10 that they hoped blessing from Allah and the straight guidance. In verse 11,Allah made them sleeping by covering their ears. And then they were waken up by Allah At the end they knew that the ruler was replaced with another ruler.,although they felt that they slept in a very short time.
By this event,Muhammad saw knew that there were so many handicaps to reach the right way and it could be achieved in so long time Our struggle should be performed with patient.and convince that Allah will help us in the right way.

Do you think Machiavelli was right when he said people will forget sons lost in war sooner than loss of land?
Do you think history has shown that to be the case?
In the Middle East the memory of land lost is still strong, but in Europe, despite millions having been displaced after WWII, there does not seem to be any effort to get back lost farms from the Russians.
And after a few decades there are fewer people who remember the fallen soldiers. Parents and grandparents die, wives remarry, and many of the soldiers were young men who never had children.
Answer: Only when the land lost is their own, and then only when the loss is kept alive by reality. I've never met a person who lost a loved one in Nam who really cared that the South Vietnamese lost their land to the North. You should remember that as generations change so do attitudes, people don't miss what they never had. I was born and raised in Texas, I care a lot more for my home town and native State than the parts of South Missouri and Western Virginia that were the home land of my Native American forefathers prior to the Trail of Tears.

How many cities did Germany lose as the result of lost land due to World War II?
Which ones were they?
Answer: The land loss Germany experienced after WWII was fairly significant. What date do you start with for the question. Germany in 1920? Germany in 1933? Remember that after WWI Germany had lost lands and had other parts, like the Rhineland, occupied. Probably what you are really seeking is that after 1945 Germany lost a major portion of their eastern border. Specifically lands to the East of the Oder river, Further Pomerania, and Silesia which were annexed by Poland and East Prussia which became parts of Poland and Russia.

a)Why does the land lose heat more quickly at night than a body of water does?
-It takes a smaller amount of energy to raise the temperature of water one degree Celsius than land.
-Bodies of water have their own insulating canopies.
-Land has a lower specific heat than water.
-Land has more wind to sweep away the heat.
b) Deserts are very hot during the day and cold at night. Why is there such a large nocturnal temperature drop?
Answer: if it takes more energy to raise the temp of land compared to water, when the energy is gone, the land will lose temp quicker than water.
if it takes more energy to roll a 10 pound ball up an incline than a 1 pound one, when the energy is decreased, the 10 pound ball will be more apt to roll down than the 1 pound one.
