Answer: An Australian employee at a place like k-mart would be earning about $20 (first link below). But in Australia, if you are under 21 you are defined as a juniour employee so you will be at a reduced rate. Therefore, according to the second link below (page 8-9), you should expect to be earning 67.5% of this rate. This means, as a ball-park figure, you should be expecting to be earning around $12.80 to $14.20. If you're earning less, they either have your age wrong, or have you on a part-time contract (where you would get less hourly due to allowances for paid leave and sick days etc). If you're getting paid more, then congrats, you're doing better than most people your age.

Answer: Criminal records don't go backwards by year. They'll list any and every charge that hasn't been expunged. On your application, there was probably a box that asked if you had ever been convicted of a crime. If you didn't put your shoplifting charge in there, they aren't going to be pleased. And yes, shoplifting is theft and it will affect your getting the job. that isn't to say you won't get it- it just sets you back a bit. Good luck!

KMART scheduled an interview at the end of my application?

I just applied to Kmart because I will be turning 16 on November 19th. At the end of completing the application, they asked me to schedule an interview date. Isnt that a little weird that nobody even reviewed my application and they want an interview? The interview is scheduled for November 25th. Should I call and confirm beforehand? Answer: I've done the same thing just 2 weeks ago (applied online and scheduled for the interview). Just go to the service desk once you arrive to your applied K-Mart area and say that you're there for an interview. They'll talk through about your application with you on the day of your interview. But of course, they actually scan through it themselves beforehand as well. My interview was the next day after I applied online. I was really surprised. Today was my first day of work, actually. It's all legit. They just really need people at the moment, hence the immediate interview scheduler. Good luck. =)

Answer: I use to date this guy who worked as a LP for K-Mart. He had no formal training other than watching a few videos to learn how to spot shoplifters. He did not have a badge either. How many hours do KMART cashiers typically work a week?

A couple months ago I had an interview with Kmart. I forget the position I applied for, it wasnt for cashier, though. The woman said the hours for the position I applied for were between 12 to 20 per week, so obviously I didnt accept the job offer... Do Kmart cashiers get such pathetic hours too?
Answer: That sounds about right. Most get around 15 to 20 hours in slow times, and up to 25-30 hours if it's a busy holiday season. I've never understood this stupid principle that countless retailers use. They have many dedicated workers who would be thrilled to work full-time, 40 hours a week. Instead, the company prefers to hire all part time workers in addition to the already existing part-time workers, instead of giving the original workers the extra hours. They don't want to make them full-time because they don't want to have to pay any benefits to them. Part-time benefits have sky-high rates to the point where it's better to just put a little money aside each week in a savings account rather than pay for insurance each week.
