Is there a recipe for peach schnapps CRANBERRY SAUCE?
Im looking for a Cranberry sauce that has peaches, peach schnapps and either walnuts or pecans. I made it last year for Thanksgiving and it was a real hit but I cant find the recipe anywhere. Do you know what the recipe is called or where I can find it?
Answer: Peach Cranberry sauce
2 (or more) Tbsp brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 Pkg (12 oz) fresh cranberries, washed & cleaned of stems
1/3 to 1/2 cup peach preserves
Juice from 1/2 fresh lemon
1/3 cup toasted almonds or walnuts
DIRECTIONS: While washing the cranberries made sure the stems are removed & the berry is ripe. Put the sugar & water in a 1 1/2 quart (or larger) sauce pan & bring to a slow boil. Stir once or twice to make sure the sugar is mixing with the water then just let it boil for about 5 minutes, make sure the sugar is dissolved. Add the cranberries to the water & bring to a moderate boil. Allow to boil, stirring from time to time, for about 15 minutes. The berries will "pop" as then open but will not splatter. You should continue to cook until the mixture reaches the desired consistency. The longer you cook the thicker the sauce will be & the softer the berries will be. When the sauce is the way you like it, turn off the stove & move the pot to a cold burner. Add the nuts, preserves & brown sugar. Stir the sauce to make sure ingredients are well mixed. Allow to cool. Transfer to a jar or bowl with a lid, when cooled to room temperature cover & refrigerate.
***I would substitute 1/2 of the water with peach schnapps!!
Happy Holidays!!!

Improving canned CRANBERRY SAUCE?
For Thanksgiving my bf and I will be in Italy. Unfortunately, there are no fresh cranberries here but weve found some Cranberry sauce.
Do any of you have a recipe on how to improve canned Cranberry sauce to acceptable levels?
Thanks!
We need the Cranberry sauce as a side dish for the turkey!
Answer: You didn't say whether you have the whole berry style or the jelly style.
To either you can add chopped nuts and diced apples and orange peel.
A friend of mine used to add the nuts, apples, orange peel and coconut to the jelly style and mix it up well. Then she'd pour in a 3 oz package of jello dissolved in a 1/2 cup of hot orange juice or apple juice. She'd pour it into a jello mold and chill it.
I loved this stuff. I've just never tried the technique myself.

CRANBERRY SAUCE?
Forgot to get port!
We have:
- fresh cranberries
- clementines
- limes
- lemons
- tons of sherries
- Chambord
- whisky
- orange juice
- breakfast (mixed orange/grapefruit juice)
- sugar (brown, white, Splenda)
...but no port.
What would you combine to make the perfect Cranberry sauce out of these ingredients?
Answer: All you need are the cranberries, sugar some sherry and a little orange or lemon zest- maybe a little water or orange juice- there is no law on how to make these things- you do need alot of sugar though- check the food network for recipes. Whatever you don't have just improvise, a recipe is just a guideline.
Here I found this one- and there is no liquor at all- cheers!

How long does homemade CRANBERRY SAUCE keep in the fridge?
I want to make some Cranberry sauce for Christmas this year, but would prefer to make it a couple of days in advance. How long is it likely to keep in the fridge in a sealed container once its made?
Answer: Cranberry sauces, and jams all contain alot of sugar, so they don't need to be refridgerated.
keeping them at room temperature will be fine because the sugar will preserve them for longer....
Also.. bacteria won't grow in a land of sugar lol it also needs, protein and iron- which sauces don't have///

Answer: Cranberries can be quite bitter - go for the recipe with the water and sugar - but remember, you can still add the Orange zest and cinnamon if you like.

Answer: You could take the zest of an orange, mix it in with the Cranberry sauce, and heat it over the stove or in the microwave to infuse it with the oils from the zest.
You could also do the same with lemon zest.
Or you could use cloves instead. Or cloves and orange zest.
I like my Cranberry sauce basic, though. :]

How to counter the bitterness in cranberry grapefruit sauce?
I made a Cranberry sauce by cooking down cranberries and adding light corn syrup and sugar and then straining through a wire mesh strainer. While I was cooking it I saw a grapefruit and thought why not add it? I have seen Cranberry orange before so I thought this might work. I dont think I cut enough of the rind off and now my sauce is bitter. Even if I keep adding sugar it still has a bitterness. Is there anyway to counter the bitterness?
Answer: Well oranges are generally much sweeter than grapefruit so im not sure why you came to the conclusion you did.
Try adding simple syrup equal parts water and sugar completely dissolved. Add as mix as it takes

Common Names: roselle, Florida cranberry, Indian sorrel, Jamaican sorrel
Roselle is an interesting and beautiful plant in the home landscape. Fifty years ago it was widely grown in Florida as a summertime hedge and for its edible calyces. Place roselle where it will have plenty of room. This is a large annual, so thin plants to about 3 ft (0.9 m) apart. Feed and mulch well. In Florida, roselle is often planted in rows where it forms a dense hedge by late summer. If grown just for juice production, roselle is cultivated much like tomatoes, peppers or eggplants.
Roselle juice is similar to cranberry juice, but not as bitter. The calyces are harvested while they are still tender and juicy, about 10 days after the flowers appear. The plants will continue to flower and produce if kept picked. Remove and discard the seed pods from the calyces. Bring 2 quarts (1.9 l) of calyces and 1 quart (1 l) of water to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes, then strain and use the juice with sugar to make a refreshing cranberry-like drink, or make jelly or wine as you would with any fruit juice. The strained pulp can be used for jam or pie.

Can I make molded CRANBERRY SAUCE from canned CRANBERRY SAUCE?
I was going to make Cranberry sauce from scratch, and I bought a pretty mold to shape it in, but now I dont think I will have time to make the sauce in addition to everything else.
It seems like I should be able to heat canned Cranberry sauce, pour it in the mold, and chill it to make it semisolid again, but Ive never done this before. Will my plan work?
Answer: I have done it before a long time ago. I just poured the canned stuff into a sauce pot and set it on low. I constantly stirred it until it was liquid enough. Pour it into your new mold and pop into the fridge. If you are afraid it wont turn out do it the day before.
And it wouldn't hurt to rub some oil on the mold so it comes out easier.
