In preparation for his drowned alive demonstration, David blaine said he went through training with a breath holing excercise every day. He also said he lost over 40 pounds doing it! he held his breath for lets say 2 minutes and breathed for 1 minute, and he repeated this process for 30-45 minutes. suppositly the overdose of carbon dioxide in your body makes your body work really hard to get the carbon dioxide out, thus burning a load of extra calories... does anyone know if this is true?
Answer: I learned to hold my breath for 3 minutes. not lose weight. In the drowned alive special (by my memory) it showed a clip of him working out. And being pushed by a US marine sergant, the breath hold was a breath hold. And is it true he is still alive today? he was last seen by plummeting to the sky and he didn't come back.

Whats that one trick called that DAVID BLAINE does?

Have you ever seen David blaine do that trick when he twisted his arm around? What is the name of that trick called?
Answer: That unrealistic arm-twisting trick David blaine does appears to be a "contortionist" trick. But that could be just an illusion, making it appear he really is contorting his arm beyond a realistically possible 360 degree circle. Either out of an inborn talent for extraordinary physical flexiibility, or a skill developed by rigorous training, body contortionists can achieve extraordinary bodily contortions beyond what the "average" human can. An illusionist, on the other hand, does not necessarily have to possess a contortionist's inborn talent, nor possses the skill; his talent lies elsewhere: creating an illusion of doing something when, in fact, he is not. David blaine is more popularly known as an illusionist. It is entirely possible, however, that he has a well developed contortionist talents or skills, as well...just as a contortionist may develop an illusionist talent / skill. What do you think the DAVID BLAINEs magic tricks?

I am kind of a skeptic as I dont really believe in all kinds of magics he made. For example, David blaine can read a persons mind of what loved one he or she is thinking. And actually know the loved ones name without saying it. Or card tricks in which David blaine can read a persons mind about what card and number he/she is thinking.
Answer: David blaine is a smart person. There have always been people out on the streets doing magic. He was smart enough to bring along cameras and record the audience responses as well as his own work. Apart from the endurance tests he does on his specials, the magic he does on his specials is familiar to many students of magic. He presents the material exceptionally well, and gets a great response from his audience. We all have our own favorite performers. I will admit that David blaine is not one of my favorites. I cannot deny his skill or talent in the work he does.He has clearly put in the time studying and practicing his craft.

How do I perform DAVID BLAINE quality levitation?

I want to try levitation trick for my sons birthday party. Does anyone know how to do it more advanced then just standing on one tiptoe at an angle? The David blaine way can be viewed from many more angles.
Answer: I'm a big fan of David blaine and watch his shows when they are on . I only know of the way you have already mentioned but do know another levitation trick though it's different from the one you mentioned. You do need an assistant and have the audience all on one side of the room with you on the other. All you need is the assistant and a blanket . first have the assistant hold up the blanket so it covers you from your shoulders to your ankles leaving one foot , (the one closest to the audience exposed. Then while in a stomach on the floor position while lifting the foot and head , do a push up and it appears to the audience that you have levitated.

Answer: I will give you an example of how David Copperfield perform his remarkable art:- Statue of Liberty Vanish By far one of the most celebrated illusions David Copperfield has performed. As seen by millions on television and by a select group who were on site, the statue was clearly seen against the night sky, both with spotlights shining on it and a ring of lights at its base. The select group of participants sat on a small stage facing a small curtain. The curtains were then closed, when they were reopened, the statue was gone, while the spotlights were still blazing and the ring of lights were still lit. Above, a helicopter hovered, but no statue was in sight. Moments later the curtains were closed. This time, when they reopened, the statue had returned. What a sight. Such a trick. The secret: Although there are actually several methods to this stunt, I will describe the one which is easiest to perform. The staging area for the trick is really the seating area and not the statue. The seating area and the television camera bay are located a short distance from the statue. The seating area is a circular stage with curtain suspended between two pillars. The curtain area is between the sightlines of the seats and cameras, and that of the statue. The spectators at home and those in attendance have a good view of the statue, through the open curtains. When the curtains are closed, the statue is completely blocked out. Surrounding the statue is a ring of lights and in the immediate area are spotlights, focused on the statue. Actually, there are two sets of ights. One rings the statue, one rings an area next to the statue. More amazingly, the platform on which both the spectators and cameras sit, is nothing more than a large turntable. Here are the inner workings: The ring of lights around the object (in this case the Statue of Liberty) is lit. The spotlights sweeping the area are focused on the object too. When the curtains close, the spectator platform slowly turns away from the object. The first set of lights ringing the object are turned off. The second set, near the object are turned on. The spotlights are now redirected to the area above the lit ring of lights. A smoke machine is turned on to further hide the object and to make the lights dance in an eerie empty space. When the curtains are reopened, all that is seen is the smoke, the lights, the searchlights, but not the object. Because no one can see around the curtain area, the audience is unable to make out the dark silhouette of the actual object. But to further diminish the chances of this happening, a bright flash of light precedes the opening of the curtains. Much like looking into the flash of a camera light, there is a temporary blindness which stays with people for many seconds. In the meantime, hovering, the helicopter also has moved, and is now over the new empty area. Naturally no object is beneath it. Even photographs won't later reveal the trick. Any one around the outside of the platform taking photographs with a small flash camera, would not be able to pick up the dark statue because those small cameras have short flash ranges and do not have the distance required to photograph the object. But the photograph touch is a nice addition to an otherwise simple trick. Returning the object to visibility is simply a reversal of routine. Unfortunately, the slow, steady movement of the seat platform makes for a slow paced and dull effect. When you break it down, the Statue of Liberty vanish becomes a simple trick. Much like a black art illusion. But, more importantly, it just shows how gullible people can be. I'm sure that if people did feel the seating area move, they wouldn't say anything. No one would want to ruin such a good trick. This way, they felt like they, too, were in on the trick. And tricks were meant to be kept a secret, now, weren't they? Well, maybe not.
