When nearly everything in stock market is falling why is MICRON going up?
Ive looked at cyclicals and non-cyclicals and theyre falling today and yesterday yet a technology stock is not? Most of the tech stocks are falling today too yet Micron (MU) is the only one in the positives and yesterday it finished up too. Why is Micron going up when everything else is going down?
Answer: On any day, even a rotten miserable broad-based fall like today, some stocks go up and there could be various reasons for each stock. Micron moved up, and now back down but is still ahead a little. On a three month trend fell from 8.50 to 5.25 and trending up now since sept 2 with active trading. Maybe its sales in the tablet PC market? Maybe rich people inside info. There are a few stocks bucking a market trend.

If you grind sand to a sub MICRON particle size, do you then have clay?
Will these sub Micron particles have the water retention and CEC characteristics or is it just smaller sand?
I have a ball mill for the grinding with 3 kg balls, 50 off.
Answer: It depends on the source sand. Clay is traditionally defined as being composed of very fine particles of phyllosilicates as opposed to tectosilicates. The difference is in the crystal structure where they phyllos are in sheets and the tecto is a 3-dimensional structure.
Quartz is a tectosilicate so it doesn't fit become clay, but sand is typically made up of many different source materials and depending on the composition, it's possible that you could end up with clay if there are enough phyllosilicates in the sand mix.
Ultimately, you need to have a fine grain mix and have it display plasticity through different degrees of water saturation.

Is the Alesis MICRON a proper synth for a beginner to learn on?
Im looking to learn the rudiments of synthesizing and programming with a synth. The looks and cost of an Alesis Micron is what drew me in initially, and it also seems to have a simple interface. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Answer: YES. It's an incredible synth, especially at that price point. I own a synth that costs 3x as much, yet I'm still renting my friend's Micron from him because it's just so good. It's got enough oscillators, filters, envelopes and LFOs to make quite complex sounds. And those filters sound *good*. I'm also starting to love the vocoder and the sequencer.
It's really unbeatable. The Akai Miniak is the same under the hood but with a different look (Akai and Alesis belong to the same company), so check that out too.

How do I get my MICRON desktop to get out of Standby?
I have an old Micron computer running Windows 98. Its 11 years old. When I try to put it in Standby, it goes to that state, but how do I bring it back? I tried clicking the mouse and pressing different keys on the keyboard, even CTRL+ALT+DEL. I always have to press the Reset button on the CPU to get it back, but is there any other way, or is the computer so old that it doesnt work anymore? It has 64MB of memory. I dont know if it ever worked before.
Answer: First of all standby mode means that the computer saves all the previously used files and settings to the hard drive, and then shuts the computer down, this function is to conserve power. To get out of it turn the computer back on, also if you want to be able to use the computer with out turning it off go into sleep mode.

What power microscope do I need if I want to count the hairs that are 1/8 MICRON in thickness?
Hi all. I need to to be able to distinguish hairs on a cell where the hairs are 1/8 Micron in thickness and be able to count them. The section will be roughly 5 square Microns.
What power microscope do I need to be able to do this?
Answer: It depends on the lighting and contrast and other factors but, at 1000X magnification, something that is actually 1 Micron in size will appear as 1 mm in size on the image. With high quality digital cameras, you can combine microscope magnification with digital magnification but there are limits. Once you go beyond about 1500X with visible light, you are at the limit of resolution due to the physics of waves. You can magnify it more than that but you just see bigger fuzzy things.

Is it normal for a Gateway computer to have MICRON memory?
My computer has been running horribly slow so my husband gave me his memory from the computer he doesnt use any more. I put in his 120 meg Kingston and looked at my old one and it was a 32 meg Micron memory card. Why would Gateway use Micron?
Answer: different firms use different component suppliers and you still only have 128 mbmost pcs these days have at least 2 gb
