94th Indy 500 Race day is May 30th I thought they opened thursday night (5/27) but couldnt find an exact time they start allowing campers onto the field.
Answer: It looks like all the camping lots (including 1C) open at 7AM on Thursday. Note that they close after the race, so no camping on Sunday evening and heading home on Monday.

What do you think of my ideas to make the IRL and INDY 500 more popular?

1) Take restrictions off the cars. Let the drivers decide how fast is safe and what is unsafe. Is 225 really safer than 240? No. 2) Get the drivers hating each other. Half the reason I watch NASCAR is for the confrontations between the drivers. You dont need everyone at each others throats every week but show me that you want to beat the other guy. 3) Increase the purses. The Masters golf tournament pay 1.3 million to the winner and his expenses are basically travel. He gets his equipment for free. Make first prize at the Indy 500 10 million dollars. That will bring interest from competitors back. 4) Increase the length of the race. When the 500 was started, 500 miles was a test of man and machine, now any one can go 500 miles in their car. Make it 750 or 1000 miles and that will be a test of equipment and driver skill and stamina.

Some friends of mine and I are planning on camping outside the Indy 500 and we were wondering if you could just buy camping passes at the gate when you get there? Do you have to pre-order them, or can you just show up and pay $30 for the pass when you get there? Also do you have to be 21 to be in Lot 1C, and how strict are they about underage drinking?

Answer: Yes, you can see part of the track and they have a few Jumbo tron TVs so you can catch what you can't see. When I went there I sat before turn 1. These turned out to be great seats because we could see the whole front stretch, most of the pits and the entry into turn 1.

Since the Indy 500 isnt as big as it was when the Champ Cars were racing their. Should they move the Indy 500 later in the IndyCar Series around September(Labor Day Weekend). Answer: The Indianapolis 500 has been held around Memorial Day for almost 100 years, so I do not see any changes to moving from May to another month. The Indy 500 is so steeped in tradition that something that drastic would really put people in a tizzy. That's about the equivalent of turning the Indy 500 into a NASCAR race - it's just not going to happen. Now ... could I see it move to a different day in May? Yes. Originally, the Indy 500 was held on May 30th, regardless of the day of week the 30th fell on. They moved it then to Memorial Day Sunday (before the Monday was an official holiday), and it's been there, for the most part, ever since. However ... over the last few years, there have been several NASCAR drivers attempt to run both the Indy 500 & Coke 600. The new start time for the 500 now prevents this, yet fans are still interested in seeing how NASCAR drivers do in the 500. I have my own opinions, but I'll digress. Thus, I could perhaps see the Indy 500 move from Memorial Day Sunday to Memorial Day Saturday. You would/could still have all the pagentry that goes along with the 500 (parade, Carb Day, etc.) and still have all the hype that leads to the race (ROP, Quals, Opening Day, MiniMarathon, etc.), and you'd still sell the place out. So ... In this case, Charlotte & Monaco could fight over viewership on Sunday. If Indy were to move to Saturday before, then you could see an influx of drivers wanting to try their luck in the Everest of Motorsports, the Indianapolis 500. And by the way ... IndyCar Racing is gaining momentum on NASCAR (whether the tintops want to agree with that or not). The excitement is coming back, and that's a good thing. Hope this kinda/sorta answers your question.

how do you make a 92 polaris INDY 500 faster and quicker?

i have a 92 polaris Indy 500 Liquid. i want to make it faster and quicker. i heard that pipes reduce horse power so what can i do to it?
Answer: Some pipes will reduce hp, but some pipes will also increase hp. Do some research to find which pipes are best suited for your sled. Check with Decker and PSI A motor is like a giant air pump. The more that goes in, the more air that goes out. If you are going to make it easier for more air to go out, then you need to make more air go into the motor. Look into changing the air intake system. (air cleaner) A clutch kit will also make your sled quicker and faster. Changing your gearing wil help also. Be sure all the bushings in your clutches are not worn. Defective bushings will bind and not operate smoothly causing a loss in performance.
