What are the army rankings, in order, and how much experience does each take?

Im trying to write a book that involves army soldiers, however I dont quite understand the structure. So, what are the rankings from recruit up and officer ranks? How much experience does it take to move from rank to rank? Also, do army soldiers specialize in areas (weaponry, technology, medic, etc) like you see a lot in modern tv, video games, media, etc?

Answer: 1. florida...they return the heisman trophy winner in tebow and percy harvin will contend for the heisman next year(similar to matt leinart/reggie bush at usc), and their young defense will only improve 2. oklahoma...with bradford and murray coming back their offense should be extremely explosive, there might be some holes to patch on defense which gives florida the edge over them 3. usc...they return a ton of talent at the skill positions and on defense, and they will have two capable quarterbacks in sanchez and mustain no matter who starts 4. georgia...they will have the toughest running game in the country with knowshon moreno at tailback, and matthew stafford will get better and better 5. west virginia...even if white and slaton both leave, their offense won't miss a beat with jarrett brown and noel devine there to step in...and if white stays or both of them stay, ship them up to #1 on this list

How does USC get such amazing recruits???

Obviously, a top program like USC will get many top recruits, but since 2002 or so they have dominated college football recruiting. They always get more five-star recruits than anyone, and if they arent ranked as having the #1 recruiting class, its only because they arent recruiting as many people as another team in a particular year (most team Recruiting rankings are based on a point system, which depends greatly on the number, and not merely the quality, of the recruits). Right now, USC has something like 10 four- or five-star prospects competing to start as tailback. Why would so many great tailbacks choose to come to a school where theyll likely get little playing time, and therefore only have a slim chance of making it to the NFL? Obviously theyll get more media exposure if they are successful at USC, but thats only if they actually get time on the field! Why dont more five-star recruits want to play on another quality team where theyd more likely make starter someday?
Answer: 5 Reasons... 1. Prestigie: USC is as prestigious as any program in the United States. USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, and Florida will get tons of recruits off school prestigie alone. 2. Location: California baby! Hollywood, LA, Beaches, you can't beat the location and night life. 3. Education: USC has produced some of the smartest people in the world and is w/o a doubt that best school education wise on the west coast (that has a football team). If you have a degree from USC it is automatically respected in any field you choose. 4. Coaching: You are almost gauranteed to contend for a national title every single season. You get to play with the most talented players and coaches in the NCAA. Your in a program who has the spotlight on it more than anywhere else and that has produced countless number one picks and gets tons of media attention. 5. Women: Kind of right there with location. SoCal has some of the most beautiful women in the world, and sorry but Ohio, Texas, Florida, and anywhere else just can't contend in this category. If you are recruited by USC you are led around campus by a beautiful girl who tells you everything great about USC and California...then she'll introduce you to a bunch of football groupies who will rock your world. Or she may even do the job herself. and I didn't tell you this, but money is the final kicker...USC has some of the richest boosters in the world and players and their families get hooked up! This is true at any big university...players are given money under the table. (I have a friend that is a starter for USC and one of their top recruits from a few years ago)...he drives a Mercedes Benz, and his father and mother both have brand new Mercedes...he ain't affording that as college student w/o a job...

Why we pay so much attention to recruiting classes and their rankings?

Bottomline is that the rankings mean nothing. Those players still got to line up and play the game. LSU didnt have a #1 recruiting class last year and they won the BCS. Rankings are based on opinions. You mean you guys can tell me that you seen all the thousands of recruits that come out of high school. The answer is no because the high school coaches be blowing up these players and many of them are bust. Miami got talent and a high rank recruiting class last year or the year before that or whatever and they have been getting killed in the ACC. Alabama #1 in the SEC in recruiting, lol. They wont win the BCS this year and I am willing to bet that! So, stop giving the the National Championship. Louisiana-Monroe beat them last year and you think this team in great even with these star recruiters. Last time I checked star recruiters are not high school players once they put their college jerseys on and strap up and play ball!
Answer: It's just a ranking. I personally try to ignore the hype as much as possible since I've seen so many busts. Once a player starts putting up amazing stats, then they deserve some attention. Oh well, it's all speculation.

Do you think that college students are becoming nothing but products for recruiting?

Do you think that college students are becoming nothing but products for recruiting? I mean isnt college education about just more than getting a job? With all these college rankings and books of rankings.
Answer: Actually, I think a lot of this is being driven by the students themselves. I don't know anyone who works at my university who thinks that college is all about getting a job. However, that is usually the first thing we are asked about by students and their parents. If you read the questions on Yahoo! Answers about higher education, you almost never find a question about the love of learning. When was the last time someone said, "I love history and want to know as much about it as possible. Where can I get the best possible education to guide me in gaining that knowledge?". Most of them are about, "How much will I get paid if I graduate with a degree in X from College A?" or, "I need a job paying $Z/year. What major should I choose?". Of course, the recruiters want the best possible future employees, but I really don't think they are driving this attitude, and while I think that the rankings add fuel to the fire, they haven't created it. I think that somehow our society has gone off track and told incoming students to expect something that colleges never were created to provide. If the colleges are to survive, they have had to adapt. It is kind of sad.
