2008 will mark 50 year of the Daytona 500. Tell me which is one your favorite and why. I know some are going to say 1998 when Dale Sr. won. Let put that one aside. Pick another one please.
Answer: 1976 where David Pearson and Richard Petty were beating and banging on each other. Right before the finish line they wrecked and the King's car died about 30 feet or so short. The Silver Fox limped across the finish line for the win. Another great one was where they had the big Allison family/Cale Yarborough fight in the infield after the end of the race. Bobby jumped in and the only thing he can remember was Cale's FACE hitting his fist over and over. Too funny.

The Daytona 500 is now 1 of 26 qualifying races to determine the 12 chase contenders. So how can it be called NASCARs Super Bowl event when it is just 1 of 26 qualifying races for NASCARs version of the playoffs? I find this confusing! And if the Daytona 500 winner doesnt make the chase does that make it less important?
Answer: It's the most prestigious race. It's importance as far as the points isn't any different than it's importance before there was a chase when it was 1 of x races in the season.

Do they really measure your cooler before you enter the track at the Daytona 500 ? Has anyone entered with a cooler larger than 6" x 6" 12" ? Also, what can you put in the plastic bag your allowed to bring in ? thanks
Answer: You can carry 1 6"x6"x12" cooler just like you state, but it has to be a soft cooler. No hard coolers. As long as it's a soft cooler they are pretty leniant on the size as long as its not to big. If it's close it's not like there are going to measure it. The Plastic bag can carry pretty much anything except for ice. The bag is supposed to be for merchandise bought at the track after you park, but as you probably know pretty much anything can be bought at the track. The pole winner and 2nd place from qualifying is locked in for the Daytona 500. So are they forced to still have to race the Gatorade duel races?
Answer: I am pretty sure you'd have to go to the back on an OP (owner's points) provisional. The duel is an extention of qualifying, so if you didn't race, it'd be the same as not taking time in a regular qualifying session, which means you are in the back and saved only by your OPs.

Im traving to the 2008 Daytona 500 on sunday from the orlando at the universal stuidos area . Im wondering whta the best way to get there to avoid traffic and tips for the the best place to park once i get there. and any tips would be helpful. Thanks
Answer: Unfortunately, there is pretty much only one way to go from Universal Studios to Daytona... You will have to hop on I-4 East, take it for about 55 miles to I-95 North for a few miles and then you will be at the Speedway. On a normal day it takes about a hour and a half but the traffic will be heavy and probably double the normal drive time. I wish I knew some great places to park but I have only been once so I don't have any recommendations on that. Good luck and have fun ;-)

INDYCAR; Indy 500 Champion Dies in Crash

The world of Formula One joined in the mourning of Dan Wheldon, the British driver in the IndyCar series who twice won its flagship race, after he was killed in a fiery accident at a race in Las Vegas on Sunday.
