Answer: Yes, it is normal. However, if when you have a bite of your pie and you find is "mushy", try baking it a little longer. I know that has nothing to do with your question but I just thought I should say so. Wrinkly sweet potato pit is normal, and usually only good that way :)

how an i make SWEET POTATO PIE thats not sloshy?

i made a Sweet potato pie and i followed the recipe perfectly but when i baked it i found it was far to sloshy, in fact water was running out of it? ive never made a Sweet potato pie before but surely this isnt right is it because i boiled the potatos too long? could i bake them instead? thanks the other ingredients were milk spices and eggs. Answer: for raw potatoes use about 6 canned use 2 40 oz cans peel and cube your sweet potatoes then boil if raw, if canned you can skip that step. blend with 1tsp nutmeg, 1tsp vanilla, 1tsp cinnomon, 2 tblsp orange peel zest and 2tblsp orange juice and 4tblsp butter and 3 tblsp brown sugar. place in pan put marshmellows on top and bake on 350 till marsh mellows are golden. if useing canned swpots besure to heat them before blending so the butter will melt.

How long can a SWEET POTATO PIE be out of the refrigerator?

Ill be driving about 6 or 7 hours away for Thanksgiving but my inlaws really want me to bring my Sweet potato pie. Will it still be good after being in the car for that long? I dont want anyone to get food poisoning or anything =) Also, should I make it that Wednesday before my drive or can I make it and refrigerate it today?
Answer: I would get a cooler. Your pie will be able to last as if it were in the fridgerator that way. However if it is not an option to take a cooler, lay down a bunch of towels in your cars floor board, cover the pie with aluminum foil, place it in the center of the towels and place frozen water bottles around it. That should knock a few hours of "sit out" time for you. If that is not an option either, the pie will be fine, but keep it in the floor board covered where it will be exposed to the least heat and make sure to eat it that day. Some people keep pies out of the fridge for several days, and that is fine for them. But in my opinion It really shouldn't sit out more then 12 hours.
