early OSCAR PREDICTIONS?
what are your early Oscar predictions for best picture, actress and actor
Answer: Best Picture:
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
- Frost/Nixon
- Milk
- The Wrestler
- Revolutionary Road
Other possibilities: Slumdog Millionaire, The Road, Doubt, Changeling, The Dark Knight, Australia
Best Actor:
- Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler)
- Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon)
- Sean Penn (Milk)
- Josh Brolin (W)
- Brad Pitt (Benjamin Button)
Best Actress:
- Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road)
- Meryl Streep (Doubt)
- Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married)
- Cate Blanchett (Benjamin Button)
- Angelina Jolie (Changeling)
Of course these early predictions are going to be completely off when the ballots go out. I have HIGH expectations for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Anything less than a number of nods, especially for Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, and an Acting nomination would be a disappointment.
Frost/Nixon and Milk should benefit from this year being a presidential election year. And then there's always one independent film that breaks the Top 5 for a Best Picture nomination... my prediction is The Wrestler, but it can very well be Slumdog Millionaire.
As for the Best Acting nods, there are simply some people you don't bet against: Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, and Sean Penn.
Let me know what your predictions are.

My brother and I have been making Oscar predictions for a while, and I would like to see your predictions! Only Best Picture though. My predictions are:
Black Swan
The Fighter
Inception
The Kids are All Right
The Kings Speech
The Social Network
Toy Story 3
The Town
Winters Bone
127 Hours
My winning prediction is that The Social Network will win it all :)
I would also like to add that Id like all ten of your nominees if you have time
@ Shaq: Thank you! And I agree, The Town is debatable. Im almost positive it will come down to that and True Grit. In fact, Im 70% sure that it will be True Grit, mostly because its a Coen Brothers (drool in awe as I say their name) film, and they are always nominated. I ended up listing The Town because it was honestly an incredible film, and, in my opinion, better than True Grit.
Answer: Great list, I think you got everything. The Town is debatable though. Winner? Inception.

THE DOCTORS WORLD; Honor of a Lifetime, Arriving Too Late
When Alfred B. Nobel created the prizes that bear his name, he decreed that they be given for work done in the preceding year. A seemingly simple provision, intuitively sensible to anyone who follows the Oscars, the Emmys or the Pulitzers. But it has led to all kinds of trouble -- as it did once again this month, when the Nobel Prize in Medicine or - Convoluted will left by Alfred Nobel left much room for interpretation and confusion as to how to award the prizes that bear his name; Nobel committee mandated that award be given only to living people starting in 1970, rule that has been violated four times. What are Your Predictions for Oscar De La Hoya vs. Steve Forbes?
The fight is this weekend. What do you expect to happen and what would you like to see happen? Where do you think these fighters will go after this fight in both a win or lose scenario?
Answer: What I expect to happen: Oscar De La Hoya beats Steve Forbes by a lopsided unanimous decision. If Grady Brewer could beat Forbes at 150 pounds, then I have no doubt that Oscar can beat him easily at that weight. Oscar will use his jab a lot and use this fight to test out certain things that he has been working on in the gym with Floyd Mayweather, Sr.
What I would like to see happnen: I would like for Forbes to beat Oscar so that he could spare us of Mayweather-De La Hoya 2. I would also like to see him win because he is the huge underdog and he never talks bad about any of his opponents- he is a good, hard-working fighter that tries his best, just like Oscar, but I would like to see him pull off the upset, even though I know it won't happen.
Where Oscar goes if he wins: A big money rematch with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in September. Then, the final fight of his career in December against an opponent to be named, possibly; Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao, or Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr.
Where Oscar goes if he loses: Don't be surprised to see the Mayweather rematch still come off if Oscar somehow loses the fight. He is always going to have the power to make it happen because he is the richest fighter in the game and therefore, would be able to make any fight that he wants regardless of how he performs. Remember that Zab Judah lost to Carlos Baldomir and still got the Mayweather fight.
Where Forbes goes if he wins: The cover of every sporting magazine with a "real-life Rocky!" subtitle (kind of like Buster Douglas). In terms of fights, he would obviously be a major player after beating Oscar and would be able to get a shot against mostly anyone around his weight (140 pounds).
Where Forbes goes if he loses: He will have nothing to be ashamed of for having lost to a much bigger, and stronger fighter that he was outgunned against from the beginning. If he manages to go the distance (which I think he will), then people will give him a lot of credit and his marketability would go up regardless after having fought the biggest name fighter of this generation. He would still probably be able to secure a title shot against someone around his weight class (remember that he was blatantly robbed against the undefeated top contender, Demetrius Hopkins).
