MEXICO CITY -- The Mexican drug war that has largely been defined by violence along the border is intensifying in interior and southern areas once thought clear of the carnage, broadening a conflict that has already overwhelmed the authorities and dispirited the public, according to analysts and new government data. Last week, two headless bodies - Mexican drug war is spreading to the countrys interior and south, trend believed to be linked to a widening turf war between Mexicos two biggest criminal organizations; violence in areas once thought safe affects both sides of the border, putting more pressure on political and law enforcement officials who are already struggling to show that their strategies are working. I got back from Acapulco, Mexico 5 days ago & have had diarrhea ever since. What is wrong?
I was in in Acapulco for a week & ate at the resort every day but the last when the diarrhea started. (We ate local food the last day) I am hydrated & have been eating lots of lean meats, fruits/veggies & whole grains like normal. What is going on :(
Answer: Traveler's diarreah, or Montezuma's Revenge. Some people are more susceptible to it then others (I was fine in Guatemala while my friends weren't so lucky...), but it is pretty common to be fine while you are there and then have it 'catch up with you' when you get back. It should go away within a week though.

Acapulco, Mexico!!~!~?
Does anyone know about how much it would cost to feed 2 people in Acapulco, Mexico?
Answer: Nannette knows of what she speaks.
Mikey is retired in Acapulco. Corona's are 10 pesos each and you get 2 pesos when you return them to the merchant.
Eating on the Costera or in the tourist zone - expect to pay about what you would for any given meal in the states , and it ain't that great.
Now leave the Costera and go up one of the many side streets and eat from street restaurants and you can get a decent , authentic Mexican meal for about 3 US dollars.
Go to Diana ( all know where it is - marked by a large circular water fountain with Diana atop. Look over at the Oxxo conv. store. Just to the left on the side street you will find Tortas Diana. A huge Torta or Taco barbachoa will run you 3 US dollars and are excellent.
You can go to the Centro Mercardo and see the way they shop here. It is a huge place with aisles and aisles of everything you could possibly want to buy. There are also many street vendors there that serve some pretty great meals and cheap.
Last resort - ask a taxi driver to take you to his favorite resturant / cantina and Mikey can assure you that it will be cheap and authentic as you can get.

What is the average price of groceries in acapulco, mexico?
Are groceries cheap in acapulco? example a loaf of bread...1-6 pesos?
Answer: Yes , there are some real bargains. Bollios--(Calabrese Buns) are 1 peso. Fruit and vegetables are the best bargain at all large supermarkets. Bread , integral. start at 18 pesos a loaf and up to 28 pesos for the 8 grain brown.
A 4 gallon Bottle of water is 25 pesos less the security deposit.
Tia rosa tortillas are 24 pesos for 20 . Eggs are cheap and I can`t recall how much for a flat of 18. Like anywhere beef is more expensive than Pork and chicken is still not a bad deal. Rice is cheap and milk is under price control , less than a dollar a liter in all supermarkets. Fresh LaLa is 10 pesos a liter. The milk that does not need refrigeration is 9 pesos a liter.
Acapulco is the more expensive on the west coast, at least all the cities I have traveled to

Why is the weather in Acapulco, Mexico essentially the same year round?
Is there any other geographic areas with the same climate?
Hey answerer one! Acapulco is 2500 miles north of the equator.
Answer: Acapulco has a tropical climate, or more specifically, a tropical wet and dry climate. Geographically, it is a little farther south than Hawaii, so it is too far south to be affected by polar air masses in winter. That's why it's hot year-round. While there is little annual variation in temperature, there are pronounced seasonal variations in rainfall. November to May is the dry season and June to October is the wet season. Parts of Southeast Asia (southern Thailand, Cambodia, southern Vietnam, etc.) have a very similar climate.

Whats the best way to travel from the airport to the city in Acapulco, Mexico?
I am arriving and i need to get to my hotel...what is the best and easiest option. I have never been there before...also does anyone know of any cool smaller towns near Acapulco that are less touristy yet nice?
Answer: 'Wrenched' is correct, hotel shuttle is best.
Second choice would be a taxi which runs about 130 pesos.
Something easy and fun to do is to take a bus to Puerto Marques, a beach town on a ribbon of sand lined with great inexpensive restaurants. The bus ride is the real attraction;the views from the top of the hill are magnificent. As the bus rambles along, the Bahia de Puerto Marques and the waves of Playa Revolacadero come into view. Both places offer a variety of water sports, including surfing and scuba diving.
You can catch a "colectivo" (5or6 pesos) from
Puerto Marques to visit the quieter and less crowded Playa Bonville.
*Getting to Puerto Marques from Acapulco*
((From the bus station across from Comercial Mexicana at Playa Hornitos,on the beach side of the street, take a "Glorieta" bus to La Glorieta. From there, catch a "Puerto Marques" bus.)) Buen Viaje!

Are there good business opportunities in Acapulco, Mexico for american women?
I am an american woman, married to a mexican man, I am learning spanish and will be able to speak it fluently in about 2 years, i hope. I am going to college to major in spanish and business management. We would like to live in Acapulco, Mexico. Are there good job opportunities for someone like me?
Answer: I live in Acapulco and was going to answer a different way. Dani S speaks volumes of truth.
No matter where you do decide to live and possibly open a buisness dont come down thinking its going or SHOULD start right away. Move down , or poke around on a vacation and you will see for yourself. I really dont think ANY answer given in this forum would be correct.
Its VERY different in all aspects than what you are used to. Thier way of doing buisness , the immigration aspect , the competition jus SOOO many different variables.
Come to Acapulco and get away from the touristy Costera and back on the city side of life here and you will see.
I will help in any way I can but for now , comming down and seeing for yourself and talking to your possible competitor's will give you all you need to know and think about.
You know, I just thought about it.....................Go spend a few nights 30 minutes north at Pie de la Cuesta. Much slower pace of life and growing slowly. ( in a great touristy way ). I would love to own a bar , small hotel or store there !
Also the north end ( airport ) is absloutly growing twice , yes TWICE as fast ,as my old town of Atlanta. Unbelivable!!!! so also poke around there as well. I bet there are 10 new housing developments and major 5 star hotels going up right now and lots are being cleared for more every day. I'm thinking of buying a house in the new developments and then renting and selling ,as those puppies are fixin' to double in the next 10 years !!!!!!! Great side of town.
