When working as a chef...?
I cannot truly decide what to do for my future, when I graduate high school in just 1 and a half more years--almost. [Im a junior]. Ive considered these top two majors in no certain order: pharmacy, and culinary arts. [I honestly wish I could attend an academy or something to train and become a pro tennis player though, lol]. But for pharmacy--my parents would be happy, and Id be glad to get paid well and doing quite a simple job, still striving to work. But, sometimes I think it would get very boring, I just dont want to spend the majority of my life doing something that pays well, although I dont enjoy it as much as I would something else.
For culinary arts--I want to own my own restuarant someday, but a lot of people have told me of the challenge for accomplishing that. I was wondering if I perhaps went to the San Diego Art Institute and got a bachelors degree from there--would I be able to enroll for some executive chef or some grand job at some prestige restaurant or something in/around San Diego?
If I chose to keep the major of pharmacy Id just go to university of california in san diego. I only choose san diego because the rest of my family lives there, and after i grad. high school here in texas, im moving in with my grandparents in san diego, lol; my familyll be moving to san diego soon afterwards, though, once they retire.
i was just wanting to know if there would be any prestigious, great paying jobs/restaurants where i could just cook or something and earn a great living that way. otherwise ill just resolve by joining the food network, lol, and hopefully having my own show, someday, but not when im like 40 or 50 or older...
How is it working as a pharmacist? if anyone knows. what would you choose to be if you were faced with these two decisions?
why?
thanks, djokerfan!

What TV shows do you love, but others seem to really hate? Why?
For me its:
> Drawn Together: I think its by far the funniest thing on TV.
> King of the Hill: I guess you have to be from Texas to appreciate it.
> The Apprentice: I love the competition and the challenges they have to face.
> Top Chef: Same as the Apprentice, but with cooking. Its really fun to watch the challenges and solutions they come up with.
Answer: I didn't know anyone hated Top Chef =(
Otherwise, I am addicted to Veronica Mars - it's a show about this high school girl who solves mysteries. Sounds cheesy but it's awesome.

Help with School Fraud >.
This is my horror story, I admit I made a vastly horrible mistake in attending this school. I applied there the student admissions director told me " We are a accredited culinary school." it was my main concern, that whatever school I picked was accredited, well perhaps it was being from a small country town in Texas, I made the mistake of believing him. I was wrong, horribly horribly wrong.
During my time spent there I noticed strange things happening. Students having accidents that were not reported, one student collapsed and hit his head , they called in someone from my class to drive him to the hospital, a girl in my meat fabrication class caught on fire ! Did they call 911 ? no they had the stockroom attendant drive her to the hospital. All so that they could report they were accident free, another girl had her car broken into not reported either, all for the sake of a clean incident report.
My former instructor told another chef in front of me that he had, had hepatitis C , this was the man responsible for the main butchering of meat for the school, events, and school restaurant. I was shocked no one said anything, at least warned people , a few months later he was found with complete organ failure and died days later. I told this to a attorney I knew he said most likely the mans death record was changed to prevent the true cause of death from being known, alarming I thought.
The placement director gave out my personal information to another student , then turned around and talked about his file with me , she also told me that she would not back me nor would the school endorse me when I tried applying for a job at a 4 star restaurant , saying to me that the restaurant owners were on the school board. I talked to my business instructor and he was shocked that she told me that because it was indeed a lie, the school had no ties whatsoever with the restaurant I was looking to work at.
Frustrated, that is what I was and then I found out that Arizona Culinary Institute had lied to me and they were not accredited, I had tried to transfer over my credits their to a Le Cordon bleu school. Meanwhile Sallie Mae was having fun raising my school loan rates, as of now I owe 18,000.00 more on top of my initial school loan, trying to seek legal help has been hellish.
The co-founder of that school is the former gov, Fyfe Symington. Once every single consumer advocate and lawyer hears this they say, " Im sorry we just cant help you.
Im so confused as to what to do, I made a mistake and believed the wrong school and now Im stuck , the worst part is they brought in my family, even my dad has been ruined by this.
Does anyone have any kind of tips or info as to what I can do to get out of this ? I dont want to be forced spending years trying to pay off a loan from a school that lied and is guilty of fraud.
Answer: The school's accreditation and your student loans are two separate issues. The loan was not forced on you and once accepted, it becomes your responsibility. If you have had problems with the school itself, you mat have a cause for action against them, but that will require hiring, and paying an attorney to do the legal work. It is not particular;y difficult for a culinary school to become accredited.

So why are turtles green?
Answer: It's simple really. You see, back in the 1200's turtles could be any color they wanted, but when Alexander the Great invaded Greece all the turtles sneezed while Egypt started running way, meanwhile the Romans were going mad because of all of the lead they had hanging around, but clearly they did not guess that Napoleon would soon later rampage through Europe but fail at Russia, then the Russians decided to fly into outer space, though they didn't expect that Americans would too, so the U.S. decided to spend 12 billion dollar on a pen that works in space while the Russians used a pencil, this caused the Yuan dynasty to start a war in Vietnam, which scared all the little jublee flies to roll over and die, which awoke Don knotts from his grave, this scared all the turtles as they sneezed again, and as we all know boogers are green and so is money, so they paid Don Knotts to stay dead and turtles never sneezed again, but the turtles missed their money and where covered in snot, so they decided green would be best to remember this amazing, amazing millenia.
Turtles choose to be green because of this.

Is Kim Kardashan a genius?
Who will defend Kim Kardashian? The Watcher will!

What has become of America?
There was a time when highly successful hucksters were celebrated. P.T. Barnum is in the American pantheon. Prof. Harold Hill and the Wizard of Oz are among our most beloved fictional characters. Cher has enjoyed a 50-year career in music even though she cant really sing.
So where is the love for Kim Kardashian?
She has built a multifaceted career – TV shows, retailing, a clothing line – on nothing more than ambition, drive and a "leaked" sex tape.
See photos of Kardashian-mania in Australia today
Kim isnt the first person to become famous for being famous, but if Zsa Zsa Gabor is the Isaac Newton of the genre, she is the Albert Einstein – the person who reshaped the field in an unexpected, mind-bending way. (And I guess that makes Paris Hilton the James Clerk Maxwell, but I digress.)
She understands the post-modern world of reality TV and celebrity better than anyone. The real Kim Kardashian is someone we never see; she is the actress who plays the "real" Kim Kardashian, a slightly dim party girl who fights with her sisters and seeks her ever-elusive true love. That Kim dresses well and looks good and doesnt concern herself with much else.
But thats the real Kim Kardashian like the sweater-wearing, bumbling TV Ozzie Nelson was the real Ozzie Nelson. But where "Ozzie and Harriett" wore the veneer of fiction, Kim presents faux Kim as the real Kim – and she never lets her guard drop.
The purpose of all of this is to make money off of the gullible few who believe the "real" Kim is the real Kim. And she does make money – lots of it.
She reportedly hauled in $17.9 million just for the wedding special on E!, which a New York Times writer calculated as more than $10,000 an hour for the duration of the marriage.
If most of us dont buy the fiction, so what? The attention we give it just raises her profile, and helps maintain the ratings for "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and the upcoming second season of "Kourtney and Kim Take New York," which debuts Nov. 27 – a comfortable distance from the divorce news but not so far that well have forgotten about it.
Tune in at your own risk. The Kardashian shows are only worth watching if you are female and under 30 and have a two-digit IQ. But admire the genius of Kim Kardashian. Shes an American original.
BUT WAIT, THERES MORE
If you want to avoid the Kardashians this month, there is much to choose from. Some of our favorite returning series started up again this week – "Top Chef," "Burn Notice," "Covert Affairs," "Bones" – and "The Closer" and "Rizzoli & Isles" will be back after Thanksgiving.
There are some notable new shows as well. AMC offers "Hell on Wheels," a drama about the railroad business post-Civil War, that looks promising. So do two documentary reality series: "Vietnam in HD," History Channels recounting of the Vietnam War, and TLCs "All American Muslim."
