How can i install windows 8 developer preview?

Ok so i want to install the new Windows 8 developer preview on my laptop, the problem is, the ISO image is 4.8gb, where as a DVD only holds 4.7gb. Any ideas?? Thanks! No stupid answers please.
Answer: You'll need a dual layer DVD to burn such an ISO to disc. Three options. 1) Download the smaller file. The 4.8 GB one includes developer tools. It depends if you want to use them, but you can actually download these AFTER you install, say, the Windows Developer Preview English, 32-bit (x86), which is the smallest, at 2.8 GB. 2) Run it virtualized. Use VirtualBox or such software and you can mount the ISO inside. Performance will not be that great as it doesn't have direct access to your graphics card. I don't really recommend this if you want the best experience. 3) If you have a flash drive, you can mount the ISO on there (take a quick Google). As long as your motherboard supports booting from a flash drive, this will work. Remember, the flash drive MUST be formatted in NTFS, not FAT, because FAT only supports files up to 4 gb, which will NOT work. Have fun with Windows 8. I found it to be kind of foreign for mouse users, but it's great as a Tablet OS.

How do I connect to the internet on Windows 8 Developer Preview?

I built a PC and installed windows 8 developer preview on it as the main and only OS and ever since then I have had issues connecting to the internet. Most of the time it cannot find my network at all or sometimes it connects but web pages wont load or internet videos wont play. Forgot to mention that I have a wireless network card so I dont have an ethernet cable hooked up to it. Also, drivers are up to date.
Answer: The problem may be something physical rather than OS related since you can occasionally get to the Internet. Check your Ethernet cable for a bad connection at either end and replace it if possible. Do you have an ASUS motherboard by any chance? They have a ROM program that runs at startup called Express Gate which includes a web browser. See if that works better. It may also be driver related. Since you built the computer the motherboard should include all the drivers but they may be old. Try updating them.

I installed the Windows 8 preview, and I found some Windows.old files. I basically just want to restore my computer back to the way it was before Windows 8, (Windows 7). Anyone know how? Thanks! I have a Windows 7 DVD, but can I still restore my system?
Answer: You need the Windows 7 install disk or a restore partition. The Windows.old folder only contains your backup user files, not the OS.

Answer: Keep in mind that the preview is a beta release and will have bugs in it. The only way to go back to Win 7 if you don't like it will be to reformat your computer. Also once Win 8 is released your preview copy will stop working.

I downloaded Windows 8 64 bit Developer Preview, to test it out on my XP before I send it to re-installation. Answer: In a word no. Before installing any beta software (I know it's to late now) you should always make a back up. Personally I use Norton Ghost which creates an image file of your hard drive which can then be restored including all programs and settings. All you can do now is a complete reinstall of your original O/S and programs.

It seems that because of the default C:\ drive installation of the windows 8 developer preview, I must have upgraded my Windows 7 SP1 to windows 8. I want to revert back. Please suggest me something to do.
Answer: This is your only option and its really not a fix but you can salvage some of your files etc. As to date there is no rollback but since you appear to have upgraded this is worth a try. Navigate to system tools hopefully the developers preview left the Windows easy transfer intact. Back up your important files to an external source thumb drive hard drive etc using easy transfer. Remove the back up media and reboot. Either use restore options or windows 7 dvd to reinstall. Plugin your external device open up Easy transfer and restore files. Things you will need to do create a backup of bookmarks from your web browser of choice and place it in your documents. anything you want to keep pics notes etc locate them all in one place this will make finding them easier after you restore.
