What is an example of how a modern day president exceeded his power?
I need an example of how a modern day president has exceeded his constitutional powers, and who authorized this power?
Answer: sounds sorty of like a oxymoron. If a president exceeded his power, then no one would have authorized it.
But I suppose you can mean a declartion of war. Bush, used congress' authroization, so to speak, to pursue a war in Iraq and Afghanistan. But technically it wasn't a war, so in theory the authorization was a formality and the president did not exceed his power in sending troops. However, he lied and had his staff lie. When an ambassador spok up about the truth, he tried to have his wife killed. His chief of staff was convicted and sentced to prison, but Bush let him out. I guess murdering a CIA Agent (the ambassadors wife was CIA), is ok if you're the president.

In honor of Presidents Day tomorrow, which President would you go hunting with?
Any President. You pick the location and what you are hunting.
I would choose Theodore Roosevelt b/c he was a big hunter.
Answer: I would have to say George Washington. He was born and raised in rural Virginia. He did a lot of hunting and scouting in his youth. In his young adulthood, his first job was as a surveyor. And he trekked into the wilderness to survey the new frontier. This is back when the "natives" didn't look very kindly on the white Europeans that were making bad deals with their tribes. Dangerous work.
Washington was also a military man, being a Colonel in the colonial British Army and later as General in the Continental Army of the United States.
People really don't realize what a tough guy George Washington. We always see him portrayed in "short pants", wearing colonial shoes that look like slippers. Stories have it that the Washington used to crack walnut's open with his bare hands.

Monica Lewinsky doesn’t matter anymore. It’s remarkable, really, how little resonance that Clinton sex scandal has today. In honor of Presidents day who is your favorite president from the 18th, 19th and 20th century?
In case you are wondering I purposefully left out the 21st century.
Answer: I'd say Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
NO...I was NOT around when he was president BUT I do study history.
I see some of the presidents chosen in public polls and am stunned.
It's obvious people have never bothered to "read up" on their "favorites" and chose to go with "popular opinion".
Wanna read something MORE interesting than Friday night Prime Time?
Start reading up on the Bush family history.
But seriously, FDR took the presidency when life was tough in this country.
We were already in the Great Depression. There WAS no economy.
He was the MOST elected president in history. And in the mist of a World War.
Roosevelt created the New Deal to provide relief for the unemployed, recovery of the economy, and reform of the economic and banking systems. Although recovery of the economy was incomplete until almost 1940, many programs initiated continue to have instrumental roles in the nation's commerce, such as the FDIC, TVA, and the SEC. One of his most important legacies is the Social Security system.
After 1938, Roosevelt championed re-armament and led the nation away from isolationism as the world headed into World War II.
On the homefront his term saw the vast expansion of industry, the achievement of full employment, restoration of prosperity and new opportunities opened for African-Americans and women. With his term came new taxes that affected ALL income groups and initiated price controls.
Roosevelt played a critical role in shaping the post-war world which was in a COMPLETE wreak.
People tend to forget, even Buckingham Palace in London was BOMBED by the Nazis!
He initiated reform of the economy with NIRA. It tried to end cutthroat competition by forcing industries to come up with codes that established the rules of operation for all firms within specific industries, such as minimum prices, agreements not to compete, and production restrictions. Industry leaders negotiated the codes which were then approved by NIRA officials. Industry needed to raise wages as a condition for approval.
Not only did he save this country but he rebuilt it... and help save the world in the process.
Did I mention that he did all this from a WHEELCHAIR?
Abraham Lincoln kept this country together as one and FDR saved it.
If anyone can even remotely compare these two presidents to ANY others in American history, let's see it in writing.

Using objective evidence give your reason and cite supporting facts please.
Answer: Milliard Fillmore was a genius? he was a part of the most pathetic Presidencies in history, from 1840- 1860 we had 7 different presidents, averaging a little under 3 years each, not even a full term. There were no easy solutions and no political geniuses until Lincoln got elected
By far Reagan's genius in his way to end the cold war began to shine a decade or more before he was elected, read the speech he gave at the 1976 RN Convention he never even bothered to endorse Ford, he just kept up his ideal of nuclear detente which ultimately ended the Cold War,
George HW Bush wasn't far behind

BQ: Are we supposed to buy gifts or flowers for the President today, like we do with parents on Mothers’ and Fathers’ Days?
Dick Bolz - I am not able to determine which president your picture is. Can you give me a hint? Nixon?
Answer: I'm sorry I missed this question yesterday. I was busy relaxing in my George Washington costume, complete with sheeplike wig and wooden teeth, which remind me of my special-occasion Cap'n Crunch caps.
I chose to portray George Washington because he invented the dollar bill, and because the accessories mix and match well with my Quaker Oats Man and sheep costumes. Also, since today is Washington's birthday, I could be extra lazy and wear my costume until tomorrow.
In lieu of sending Obama flowers or candy, I decided to do a community outreach, and went door to door collecting tacks to represent tax.

Does my religion affect my chances at being President some day?
After seeing Barack Obamas speech at the Inauguration I think I would like to eventually run for president. I was born in America and Im just as much an American as my white friends, but Im Hindu. Does being Hindu severely affect my chances at being president some day?
Answer: I don't believe being Hindu should "severely" limit your chances to run for president, but it does mean a lot, it seems, to the right wing conservatives. They are not the majority, though, so dream your dream and make it happen. Just avoid disrespecting your fellow-humans and you'll go far.

What if Bush was president on day 84 of a hundred million gallon oil disaster?
We all know that Obama gets a hall pass for just about anything and everything that happens on his watch since he "inherited" all of lifes woes from George Bush. So I was just wondering how liberals and democrats would be acting if George W Bush was president on day 84 of a HUNDRED MILLION GALLON OIL DISASTER in the Gulf of Mexico? Do you think Bush would be given the same courtesy that Obama is receiving from the media and by liberal democrats?
Answer: Sean Penn would have been paddling around in his rowboat with a bullhorn on day two- screaming for impeachment.

What president made Valentines day an actualy holiday?
Just a random question. But what president made Valentines day a holiday?
Answer: Valentine's Day is an observance celebrated on the day of the death of St. Valentine (check out the Wikipedia link below).
But, it is not officially a holiday, at least it's not a federal holiday in the USA. If it was a federal holiday, there would be no mail delivery, and banks, public schools, and many government offices would be closed. That doesn't happen on Valentine's Day in the USA. The only federal holiday in the USA during February is President's Day.
