Answer: If I was a betting man I would say he has the best odds. Personally I would like to see somebody else win this year. If somebody from a different team can't win I would at least like to see Mark Martin win one, he deserves it.

Answer: Every week you see empty seats.TV ratings are down. The economy may be partly to blame, but people don't change channels because of a bad economy. Duh.
NASCAR, especially Brian France, is all about breaking records and making NASCAR history. But breaking records is meaningless when it's made possible BECAUSE of NASCAR. Points manipulation (the Chase) is wrong. Having the season boil down to 26 qualifying races and a 10-race shootout to determine the championship is even worse. Gimmicks have become more important than racing itself.
Jimmie johnson may be a spectacular driver, but he is no legend. Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough and Dale Earnhardt won their championships entirely on their own merits. None of them ever had the luxury of a points "do-over" in the last 10 races of any of their championship seasons.

With Carl Edwards leading laps and winning the race on Sunday (10/26/08) at Atlanta, how did Jimmie johnson (finishing 2nd) actually gain any points on him in the Chase. It looks like Carl would have gained a few or at least they would have stayed the same distance apart in the point difference?
Answer: Jimmie improved his point lead on 2nd place, not Carl Edwards. Before the Atlanta race, Carl was 4th in points and moved to 2nd after his win at Atlanta. Jimmie gained more points on 2nd place, which belonged to Greg Biffle before the race. 5-time NASCAR champion JIMMIE JOHNSON follows worst season with worst Daytona 500
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Jimmie johnson was long gone when all the Daytona disorder ensued. He missed the explosion, the fire, the lengthy cleanup, the finish and the fog. He surely would have endured it all rather than the night he had at the Daytona 500.
How amazing is JIMMIE JOHNSON season?
I hope real race fans give me a honest answers. I know you probably hate Jimmie johnson, but even you have to admit his season is pretty amazing. JJ has won 10 races, 4 in row, and could possibly win back to back championships.

Is JIMMIE JOHNSON the greatest driver to have ever lived?
On a tv show more and more people have started saying that Jimmie johnson will beat richard and dales championships and be tha first to get 8. They stated that he was the greatest driver in NASCAR today.
Answer: First of all NO, but he has only been racing in NASCAR since 1998 and didn't get his first cup start until 2001. Here's my take on Jimmie's career so far and in an historical perspective. I would say he is the best NASCAR driver today. This will guarentee that I get many thumbs down because he is a grossly underated driver. The people that say Smoke and Gordon (or whoever else) are better have valid arguments but not the stats to back them up. Since 2002, Jimmie's first full season in the Nextel Cup Series, he leads everyone in wins, top 5s, top 10s and average rank. He has never missed the chase and never finished worse than 5th in the standings. People that say it's just the crew chief or equipment don't always realize that the same thing could be said for both Stewart and Gordon. Jimmie is a well rounded driver and excels on everything from the short track at Martinsville to the superspeedways. He is getting better all the time at the road courses and I suspect he'll win one of those races in the next year or 2. I don't know how long you have to sustain these types of numbers to be considered one of the greatest of all time but he has way better stats and more wins than Ricky Rudd, Benny Parsons and BOTH the Labontes and that's with just 5 full seasons so far. If he can keep up the pace he's at he will get to 80+ wins and undoubtedly win a few more championships if he races another 10-15 years. He is also 12th on the all time winning percentage list of drivers with more than 100 races, well ahead of drivers like Bobby Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Darrell Waltrip and Rusty Wallace. The only active driver ahead of him in percentage is Jeff Gordon and Jimmie has done better than him head to head. I think that Johnson should end up an easy top 10 all time driver and could easily crack the top 5 before he's done.
IMHO the greatest driver to have EVER lived was David Pearson, the Silver Fox. I doubt that I will ever consider somebody better than him but I hope so because then I get to watch their career.

Answer: i think i means diddly squat... and before i state why lemme say i'm a sports fan who HATES nascar but follows the sport tangentially because its covered on ESPN where i mainly get my sports from...
anyways....
1) the best drivers get the most money/sponsorship for cars/equipment etc... to me, that not fair... to ask, say, the 35th ranked driver (who has less resources) to compete fairly against a driver with more backing isn't a leveling playing field...
2) this "chase for the cup" nonsense negates too much of the pre-cup season... last year i believe casey kahne won the most races yet nearly didn't make the field... uh, that's a problem.... why remove the order established throughout the year and make only the last 10 races count more? johnson wasn't ahead b4 the chase started in maybe 2 of the 3 years he's won, somebody else would have won those years without this (MALE COW FECES) system...
3) please stop calling this a "DYNASTY"... dynasties are for TEAMS in real sports.... driving around an oval 200 times in machines of different quality (and therefore different playing field btw drivers) is NOT, i repeat, NOT a sport

Because it seems like the only people who like Jimmie johnson are fans of the new nascar and not old school fans. Most of them are more upstart fans who like to root for the winner so they go for JJ. I mean it makes sense to me because all they have to do to end an argument is say "Jimmie johnson" enough said.

Answer: your best bet is when you purchase your ticket package you also get pit passes . you never know you could meet him if he is out walking around.. it is unfortunate that when buy tickets you also have to purchase them for the Nationwide race and the truck and indy race in july.... has my tickets for the race

Is JIMMIE JOHNSON considered one of the NASCAR greats in driving?
Jimmie johnson currently has the most wins with the COT (22) and has won 4 straight championships. I think that performance qualifies him as a superb and great racer, and the fact that he races everybody clean.
Answer: I would put Jimmie johnson up there with Petty, Earnhardt, Pearson, Yarborough and Gordon right now. Johnson will probably end up being the third most accomplished driver in series history behind Petty and Big E.
