THE APPRAISAL; What Once Seemed Too Far Is Now Just Right
Many years ago, back when 96th Street was the bright-line border separating the upper reaches of the Upper East Side and East Harlem, Darin White, an executive at a major search firm, had a friend who lived in a nice prewar building on East 98th Street. Why was GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER important to America?
How was George washington carver important to America?
Answer: Carver was important for a couple of major reasons.
First, (what he is most famous for) he made hundreds of food products using the peanut. Peanut Butter alone would have pleased many but Carver used peanuts for many other uses and recipes. Many of the uses came at a time when the very poor and rural residents in the South (Particularly in Alabama where he was working at Tuskegee Institute) needed more protein in their diets. Peanuts were in abundance and could easily be grown so they were a rich source for this. He also experimented with other plants such as sweet potatoes and pecans. Later he helped to find several substitutes for dyes and foods sources during the World Wars.
Carver is also credited with the first explanation and research of crop rotation. He found that if different crops were grown on plots of land, instead of the same crop each year, the soil would retain nutrients. He even found that some plants would replenish depleted nutrients with a rotation system.

Why is GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER the only AA inventor anyone ever talks about?
Big deal, he made a food product, and he wasnt even the first one to do it. I think its kind of funny how most AA inventors only improve upon inventions created by white or asian people.
Answer: I think it's just you talking about him.
"I think it's kind of funny how most AA inventors only improve upon inventions created by white or asian people."
That's how inventions have been all throughout history moron. The spinning Jenny was improved by some guy, the engine originally used steam, etc. Besides, the western Europeans improved inventions made by the Romans, Chinese, Middle Easterners, and Africans.

Growing Push In Newark To Retake School Reins
NEWARK -- For a generation of Newark students, every education decision, including choices on curriculum, spending and superintendent, has been made by state officials in Trenton. That level of state involvement has made the 39,000-student district an attractive laboratory for Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican seen as a national leader on education - Growing movement of parents, educators and elected officials want Newark, NJ, schools returned to local control 16 years after they were taken over by state officials amid low test scores, crumbling buildings and charges of mismanagement; critics say the state has unilaterally imposed a controversial agenda, dreamed up by outsiders and consultants who do not understand the needs of their children, and that there is not enough opportunity for input by parents and community-based advocates. However I believe in the world as we know it today, if you are kind compassionate and all those nice things, you will get screwed over big time. many will speak highly of you, but a few will take unfair advantage of your kindness.
