Then using an inverted table spoon over the center slowly poured the stout over it. The problem was that after many tries the ale and guiness would not layer but simply mixed. Any obvious mistakes?
Answer: I made a few "Republic of Ireland" Black & Tans on Wednesday (Smithwick's & Guinness) and used a pint glass and the inverted spoon method (I actually used to own the "special" spoon, but a guest took off with it at one of my parties ... but it doesn't matter ... a steady hand a a deep-bowl spoon works just fine) ... I used my tablespoon measure. It does take a very slow and steady pour and I pulled it off ... if ever so slighty. I really had to hold the finished pint up to the light to see my success (not easy to see without a lot of light since Smithwick's is a red beer). In the end though, while fun/novel, it all ends up tasting the same. Give yourself another chance and practice pouring that Stout nice and slow

I bought carpet at Lowes. They brought it today and the little sample they showed me - the color looked like dirty carpet! Turns out samples and carpet you get are never really exactly the same. Lowes was great & said the carpet would be returned & I could pick out another color.

Occasionally I'll hear the tan referred to as the "trim" or "points", but this is by no means anything scientific or breed-specific. Black and tan is one of the more common dog colors. Feral dogs are commonly two colors: Black and tan, and red or fawn. Many mixed breed dogs are also Black and tan. Hope that helps!
