What do you do at your school for Pi day? I know most schools bring in pies, but do you do anything unusual? Like throwing them at your geometry teacher?
Answer: Give your geometry teacher $3.14! Get 414 beads and put 100 of them in a row and put the other 314 of them around the edge of a semicircle. That will show you understand the approximation. There should be space left over on the semicircle for 0.15926534 additional beads, approximately. At the Georgia Institute of Technology (and I imagine other places too) on Pi day there is a Pi Mile Run where students, professors, and alumni run a race about 3.14 miles. Maybe you can get your whole class to go outside and run around the school in a circle of radius 100 yards or something like that. If you do use pie involved then make sure the radius and circumference of the pie are compared.

Answer: my husband has fifty numbers down but I can do you one better. shortening, lard flour, mix together until it looks like cornmeal. and ice cold water vinegar a dash of salt and a beaten egg. Use cold forks to mix then chill. after a few minutes, lay down wax or parchment paper. stick two thirds of dough between two sheets. roll dough to size and place in pan. place chopped and peeled granny smith apples in pie pan. add sugar, whipped cream and cinnamon. roll rest of dough and place on top of pie. flute edges together. cook at 350 degrees for half an hour. That recipe has been memorized. If you would like exact measurements, I can give you that too, I guess. After your pie has been cooked and cooled, take whipped cream and write out as many numbers of Pi as you can.

For Pi day (March 14th) I have to make a project about pi for my algebra class. I have no idea what to do! I am working by myself. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Answer: The number pi has an odd history. For example, Ludolph van Ceulen spent a good portion of his life calculating 35 digits of pi (see link at bottom). Pi shows up in religion. In the Hindu text Shatapatha Brahmana there is an accurate statement of pi, oddly enough. If you dig around on the web you'll find some interesting history for pi. I'd Google history of pi, and see what you find. Pi shows up in odd places. Head over to pi land (see link at bottom) for some pi-related fun. Maybe. Finally, people have dedicated amazing amounts of their lives to memorizing pi to an astonishing number of digits. I am not recommending that you do this (please have a better use for your time), but it is interesting how obsessed people can be with this number.

Answer: Here's the best key lime pie you'll ever eat! 8 oz cream cheese, softened (use regular, not low fat or no fat) 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk (Eagle Brand) 1/3 c freshly squeezed lime juice, strained (use regular limes, not the little key limes) 1 t lime zest (before cutting and juicing the limes, rub the skin against a small grater, grating only the green part) 1 regular size Keebler graham crust Combine softened cream cheese and Eagle Brand milk in medium mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer, beat to thoroughly combine. Add lime juice and peel. With hand mixer on low, beat to combine. Pour mixture into graham crust. Take the clear plastic you've removed from the crust, wash and dry the plastic, then invert over the filling to make a lid. Chill for several hours or overnight.

What round, non-sugary food should I bring in for PI DAY?

For Pi day, which is tomorrow (3/14) Im supposed to bring in some kind of round food that I can find the area of and then eat. I cant think of any easy food to bring in that is circular and isnt considered dessert. Its only for me and not my whole algebra class, so I just need something small. Any suggestions? Thanks:)
