I have a WR602 WEATHER RADIO that will not hold a charge, I have replaced the batteries several times?
I have had 2 WR602 Weather radios that work for a while than they loose their charge and wont recharge,,,is it suppose to set in the cradle all the time,,,should it run in the cradle without any batteries?
Answer: Are you sure your charger is working properly? The odds of several batteries being bad is pretty small.

I just bought a WEATHER RADIO but why is there only static?
Its a NOAA weather/FM radio. I read all the directions. On my frequency (for my area) there is only static. Is this because its a beautiful day out and theres no weather advisories? How can I be sure? I set it to "Alert" but I dont want to wait until theres a tornado to see if its working properly. FM works fine but only gets a couple of stations.
Answer: I had the same problem when I first bought mine 6 years ago. It turns out that the station transmitter was down for 5 days so it wasn't working. But then after they fixed it, it worked. Make sure it's on the right channel. For mine, it was Channel 7. Make sure the antenna is fully extended. If it's a wire you have to hold it out. Also mine only picks up a broadcast no more than 65km (40 mi.) from the station's transmitter. Here's a link for a list of stations and you find which one's yours:

Here in Southern Illinois, we have most of our weather coming from the southwest, however, when we get severe weather, it tends to come from the northwest.
If your prevailing winds are from the southwest, you could tune to the NOAA station southwest of you, and their radar would pick up the conditions you will see later, but early enough so you can take shelter, or take whatever steps you think necessary given what the projection is.

I work security and it is my job for when bad weather is comming to monitor and keep the client up-to-the-minute with the weather if emergency weather is comming. I have signed up for the Emergency weather SMS from theweathernetwork.com but that only gives me a warning. I need the local Radio station to listen to in case of emergency weather. Does anyone know where to find or know the St. Catharines/Niagara Emergency Weather radio station?

Answer: You will need a Weather radio. Tone alert type with battery backup is best.
The St. Catharine area is covered by station VAD 320 on 162.475 MHz. I believe the transmitter is located in Thorold.

Will a CB antenna work on the WR120 midland WEATHER RADIO?
My Midland Weather has off and on reception so Im looking for an antenna that will improve reception. Can someone tell me if a CB antenna will work on the Midland WR120 Weather radio? Or can somebody tell me of an antenna that will be compatible?
Answer: A cb antenna will work but will not give the best recpetion. This is mainly due to the fact that NOAA Weather radio operates in the VHF band (162MHz) while a cb antenna is tuned to the 11 meter HF band (27MHz).

Answer: MIDLAND WR300 Weather radio is a nice model and I like the AM/FM feature. The problem I continually have had with every radio is that we live in the middle of the coverage areas and don't get the best signal at times. I have solved this by putting a Chore Boy stainless steel scrub pad on the antenna. It definitely improves the reception and seems to do better that foil. Other than that I think this is the best one I have had.

Find out the weather frequency in your area, Probably a boater (like me), or a fireman (they use lot's of "scanners") would know the frequency in your area, then you punch in the frequency, and "set". My marine V.H.F. Radio has a "Weather Alert" feature. The frequency for S.W. Long Island, and NY city area is "162.55 Mgz." (for the area weather info.) frequency. We are having severe weather right now so we got out our weatherx radio. The problem is we are not getting any signal/stations on it. We just bought it the other day so it may be due to the fact that we are new at it. If you have any advice please let me know. We live in tornadoe alley and there is a tornadoe warning in a county close by so please help if you can. All advice is welcome. Thanks!

How come my NOAA WEATHER RADIO alarm doesnt sound on heat warnings?
Theres been a heat warning in my area for the past week and its going to last to at least through next weekend. But my NOAA Weather radio alarm never sounded. I thought the Weather radio alarm suppose sound off on all watches, warnings, and advisories?
Answer: Because a heat warning/advisory/watch is not part of the suite of products which triggers an EAS (Emergency Alert System) tone alert via NOAA Weather radio. The tone alerts are generally reserved for faster, short-fused, rapidly evolving events, such as tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, flash flooding (watches and warnings) and many others. How do I tune my NOAA WEATHER RADIO for my specific area?
I cant remember how to set my NOAA radio up to pick up alerts for my area. Does anyone know of a website with this info? Help, we have severe storms and tornados heading this way and Im at work with no television, or any other way to hear the weather.
Answer: First you will need the FIPS codes for your area. If you don't have the operating manual for your NOAA Weather radio, you might find a copy on-line to download.
From my experience, most are fairly simple to program and would only take a few minutes.
Another source you might try if you are having problems programing the radio is to contact your local Office of Emergency Management. Usually, there will be someone that knows how to program the radio.

Answer: I got a nice one at radio shack for 50 dollars. it is sponsored by the red cross, has am/ fm/ tv bands, and weather bands from NOAA. It can run on batteries, optional a/c adaptor, or a dynamo (hand crank). it also has a small light and a siren. We had a bad ice storm and i used it for 18 hours -- music and weather, and only had to crank it a few times. Hope this helps, and i don't get any royalties from the company.

Which WEATHER RADIO would you recommend?
Im looking for a Weather radio and Im wondering if anyone has any good recommendations. I would ideally like something with S.A.M.E technology, and I know Eton is a good brand. This is my first emergency radio so if anyone has any past experiences or ideas to share, Id really appreciate it.
Answer: Getting one with the SAME technology is a good idea. I've never had any complaints with Radio Shack weather receivers. Some radios are designed to always be on, working from AC then battery if the AC power goes away. This is unsuitable for casual use away from AC power.
