Does anyone know where I can find this poem by SHEL SILVERSTEIN?
Ok, when I was in grade school we had to read this Shel silverstein style short story/poem about two sisters...
One day both of the sisters get Jelly Donuts. The first sister eats her Jelly Donut right away, but the OTHER sister saves hers for later.
Then that night, she brings out her saved Jelly Donut and slowing eats it in front of her other sister... savoring every messy bite while her sister suffers... wishing she still had HER Jelly Donut...
Anyways, does that story sound familar to anyone?

Who is a really good poet besides SHEL SILVERSTEIN?
Im writing my Christmas list and I want a book of poems. I like Shel silverstein, but Im 13 and want to find another poet. I also love Edgar Allen Poe.
Answer: That's a very big question. What I would suggest is a good poetry anthology, containing the works of many great poets from the dawn of the English language up until our present day. Then, look through to see who you prefer--though I've no doubt you can learn much from all of them.
That is a book that I guarantee shall remain ever on your bookshelf.

How do I "prove" SHEL SILVERSTEIN wrote about childhood and imagination?
Ok, I am writing a research paper in which I have to "prove" with a couple different arguements that Shel silverstein wrote about childhood and imagination (using Where the Sidewalk Ends as a sample of all his work). i am having a lot of trouble coming up with arguments other than "well, look at what this poem says". Does anyone have a few suggestions to help get me going? Thank You XD
Answer: Well first off they are illistrated to interest children. Cartoons, they talk about chores, bed time prayers, and some of his writtings are funny. He did some other illistrations and published them in play boy that weren't very kiddish, so you can compare the two if you want.

Any good sites that fully discuss SHEL SILVERSTEINs writing style?
I need help writing a 3-page essay on just Shel silversteins writing style, not sure how Im going to do it...I cant find much.
Answer: I don't know any websites but I just wrote a paragraph on his writing style too. Here is what I found out:
The poet, Shel silverstein, has a very unique and interesting writing style. Even though Silverstein’s poems are meant to be written for children but many of them are not appropriate. In his book, Falling Up, Silverstein’s writing style is shown. The fact that some of Silverstein’s poems are not appropriate for children can be seen in one of his poems, “Long Scarf.” In this poem the characters head is chopped off and he is keeping it attached to his neck by a scarf. This is not appropriate for children because they like happy stories and that story is violent and depressing. Also, Silverstein’s poems are not realistic. He writes about absurd things that would never happen. For example, one poem called “People Zoo,” was about a zoo where the animals went to watch people. Silverstein has an interesting diction too. He often uses words that rhyme throughout his poems. This technique captures the reader’s attention especially for children. Silverstein also makes up his own words to keep the rhyme scheme going. In his poem “Pinocchio,” he added “io” to the end of a lot of words to continue rhyming. Since Silverstein writes poems, his syntax involved lines and stanzas. Also, behind many of the poems that Silverstein writes are lessons. For instance, the “People Zoo” poem is about the people being in cages and animals spitting and yelling at them. This teaches us that we should treat animals with respect. Silverstein also is very ironic in his poems for instance in his poem, “Stone Airplane.” This poem was only two lines long and said “I made an airplane out of stone…/ I always did like staying home.” This is ironic because a stone airplane will not fly. Every author has his own writing style, even though some other authors may share similarities.

Help Please! Can anyone give me a monologue/site with SHEL SILVERSTEINs writings for an audition?
I got informed two days ago about an audition from some person from a theater school. I asked my teacher what I would need (since she also went to the same place a few years ago). She said that I should get a monologue out of the internet, and she said to check the books and writings of Shel silverstein (Sorry if I misspelled the name). I really need this for an audition tomorrow, and I would VERY MUCH APPRECIATE it if you could give me a site, or write one of her pieces if you have it. I have an audition tomorrow and I just got notified two days ago. I also wasnt informed whether its a memorized audition or not. If you need the information, I am a 14 year old male (tall). I will research for these while people hopefully answer my question. Serious answers only please. I decided to post this question to save time for myself (while im researching, people will be helping). Thank you!
I also forgot to mention that I want comedy pieces please.
So ive done the audition, but I dont know if im in yet. But ill leave this open to more answers just incase I have other auditions.

How much would a signed, original drawing by SHEL SILVERSTEIN be worth?
My mother had a friend who was close friends with Shel silverstein. He drew her a picture in the front of "The Giving Tree" and signed it. It was a drawing of her name(Kat) sculpted into a tree. Im only curious about how much, if anything, this is worth.
Answer: If you are talking about how much it could be sold for, I see books by Silverstein with drawings going for between $100.00 and $8500.00 (first edition) - it looks like ebay has original art going betwee $1-2000.00.
How much its worth is a different matter - this is something that is both amazing and personal, and I would value it very highly if I were in your position.
