Is the U of Virginia lacrosse murder much more sickening than the shootings at Virginia Tech?

Im taking out of the equation the number of lives lost, because of course that matters. Heres where Im looking at this from. I believe Huguely killed Yeardley Love just because he felt like it. Im not trying to condemn the culture of the wealthy lacrosse players, but the alleged murderer himself. He had no reason to kill Yeardley, he just did it as if it was like brushing ones teeth. When youre told your whole life you can do anything and not get punished for it (especially by your enablers like the UVA Mens Lacrosse coach), why would you think that killing a beautiful girlfriend of yours is wrong? You can just blame it on the alcohol or your parents can hire great lawyers to get you off. At least the Tech killings I can totally see that that killer had rage, he was demented. Its very sad that he didnt get help and its one of the worst tragedies Ive ever heard of with a college shooting, but I can wrap my mind around a sick guy who cant fit in with his peers just going around and murdering those who he felt were mean to him. I think Cho and all people who take lives are sick. The Columbine kids were sick. But George huguely is your next door neighbor. Hes the attractive kid who looks you in the face and shakes your hand when he says hello to you at family functions. Theres so much potential for a guy like that, great education, athletic, dating an amazing girl. Heck, he might even be driving at Maserati as he volunteers at the local charity in town. You dont expect him to just nonchalantly waltz into his girlfriends house, kill her, and then just be like, oh...oops, my bad. Cho you could have understood. Columbine kids were teased. IS this worse? I actually have seen the footage youre referring to when hes laughing about the whole thing. The memory of having seen that Preppie Murder laughing about it is what triggered such strong feelings about this case for me. We always think that perhaps these guys are devastated by what they did. To me, Huguely is just the same thing as the Preppie Murder - the two situations are eerily similar. And I would not be shocked that if he got out, he would shed not one tear over what he did to that poor girl, perhaps hed even laugh about it at one of his fathers golf matches. I mean, for wealthy UVA lacrosse players and their families, Im sure Yeardley was just a disposable nothing, girl. They guy could care less. He has no empathy as far as Im concerned. At least OJ knew he did something wrong, this guy didnt even run. Why would he? Mommy and daddy have good lawyers. Its just murder. And its only a simpleton girl, right? Wrong.

Sports Illustrated reported that the murder trial of Yeardley Love, the University of Virginia lacrosse player, is scheduled to start in February. She was murdered, allegedly, by George huguely in May of last year. Thats 21 months from crime to trial. As I recall, Huguely was arrested within a couple of days of Loves murder, so apprehending the suspect didnt take long. I understand that murder trial can take longer, especially if capital punishment is on the table. I know that some trials can be postponed for a whole raft of reasons. But the OJ murder trial began some 9 months after those murders. So again, my question: Is it very unusual for a murder trial to start 21 months after the crime?

I know that there are thousands of guys at UVA who are nice and sweet, and would never have laid there hands on Yeardley Love. Why in the world was such a sweet girl with that dirtbag? Did she have love the fact that George had a family with so much money, or, ladies, was he an extremely attractive guy to warrant staying with him? It pains me to see this tragedy because I know there are millions of guys who would have died for Yeardley, literally, done anything for her - yet she ends up with this clown? Was it his money that made her like him? Was it his looks? Where was this young womans radar that weeded out psychos, or does that apply only if the guy is average-looking and not insanely rich?
Answer: She didn't stay with him. That is why she is dead.

The trial is about to begin. The media has converged on Charlottesville, home of the University of Virginia where both of them played on the Lacrosse teams. Almost 2 years ago George huguely V allegedly broke into the room of his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love (pronounced YARD-lee) and beat her head against the wall, resulting in her death. http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2012-02-05/news/bs-md-huguely-20120125_1_huguely-yeardley-love-lacrosse-player Do you think he will be found guilty of murder? If so what should his proper punishment be?
Answer: I personally think he did murder her. He was enraged and he has a history of being a spoiled little rich kid with obvious anger management issues. He busted into her apartment, grabbed her and banged her head against a wall, according to news coverage at the time. I recall being sickened at seeing his face in an inmate's uniform after he was arrested. Still the same smug, all-powerful look on his face. What a piece of garbage he is. I am sure his divorced parents are just thrilled at his criminal past and what he did to his former girlfriend. Thankfully he has spent the last almost 2 years behind bars. If society is lucky he will spend the rest of his life in prison where he can find out what it feels like to have people use their size, strength and power to intimidate and murder a person. He truly is a POS. I hope he gets everything that's coming to him. If the trial wraps up quickly he may soon discover what it's like to be on the bottom. I can hear the line from the movie Deliverance: You got a right pretty mouth there, don't ya boy? He'll have his work cut out for him for the next few decades....or for LIFE.
