What are the Rules and Regulations for bringing a puppy to IRELAND?
We are probably moving to Ireland sometime at the end of 2007. We are going to buy a puppy. We have looked up basset hound breeders in Ireland and cant find any! However there is a breeder about 15 minutes away from our house! We were wondering about quarantine/rules bringing a dog to Ireland? Should we get a pup here and go through it? Or should we wait and keep looking for one in Ireland? We have two bring over 2 rabbits as well.
P.S: we are not entirely certain it will be a basset but it is a strong possibility!
Answer: well that depends on where you are coming from, if you are traveling inside of the eu you must have a pets passport, but if you are travelling inside of the uk you will have to check the airline company and there restrictions. i am coming over from chinaa with my 2 cats this christmas and they must stay in quarrentine but i have been told the quarrentine is much less if you travel within the eu and or a reconised pets holding country.
anyway see the below website for more details on the pets scheme

What is the policy of the Republic of IRELAND regarding Northern IRELAND?
Traditionally and today, what is the relationship between the Republic of Ireland, and Sinn Fein (and the republican movement in general, including the IRA)? Has there been a time when Eire has favoured the Norths absorption into a united Ireland? If the Republic have distanced themselves from the idea, what has been the response of influential figures like Gerry Adams or Martin McGuinness?
If the Republic refused to unite, how might this change the aspirations of the republicans in the North?
Answer: IN THE PAST FEW YEARS, THE RELATIONSHIP WITH SINN FEIN HAS BEEN RATHER COOL. THIS IS MAINLY BECAUSE THE GOVERNING PARTY. FIANNA FAIL, HAS TRADITIONALLY REGARDED ITSELF AS THE 'REAL' REPUBLICAN PARTY. SINN FEIN HAS ONLY 5 SEATS IN THE REPUBLIC'S PARLIAMENT(166 SEATS) AND IS FAST LOSING INFLUENCE WITH THE VOTERS IN THE REPUBLIC, SINCE ITS VIEWS ON ECONOMICS, FOREIGN AFFAIRS ETC. ARE TOO FAR LEFT. SINCE THE 'GOOD FRIDAY' AGREEMENT, SINN FEIN HAS MAINLY BEEN SEEN AS A 'ONE TRICK PONY' AND IS BEING LARGELY IGNORED BY VOTERS SOUTH OF THE BORDER. SO-CALLED INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE LIKE ADAMS AND McGUINNESS HOLD VERY SWAY IN THE REPUBLIC.
ALSO ITS NOT A QUESTION OF THE REPUBLIC REFUSING OR OTHERWISE TO UNITE. IT HAS BEEN THE POSITION OF ALL LEGITIMATE PARTIES IN THE SOUTH THAT UNITY IN Ireland MUST COME ABOUT THROUGH CONSENT OF BOTH TRADITIONS.
OF COURSE, ALL OF THIS IS JUST A PERSONAL OPINION! NO DOUBT OTHERS WILL DISAGREE!

How did IRELAND get the money to build cities and highways and become a modern country?
Ive always thought of Ireland as really poor and impoverished with nothing but rolling green fields with beautiful countryside and farmlands , but from looking on google earth boy was I wrong O_o how did you get the money and build everything and so fast?
Answer: We have had motorways around Dublin for years and years, I think the first motorway from Dublin to Belfast, the M1 was built in 1961! Our more recent national network of motorways (highways) were funded by the European Union I Think! I also notice that motorways can be built quite fast, I think that is because they build them in sections and they will have different groups working on different sections and then they just join them up to form a city to city Motorway (or Highway as you call them!) A lot of the big fancy architecture you may have seen in Dublin was built by the British when Ireland was a part of the United Kingdom! During the Celtic Tiger A lot of Multi National Companies like Google for instance invested in Ireland and so built fancy glass office buildings in Dublin and elsewhere. Businesses are attracted to Ireland because of our low corporate tax rate. One thing that is bad in Ireland though is the public transport, it virtually doesn't exist in the country, and in the city they just have bus services, in Dublin they have a tram, but they don't evem have a subway system! There are cities in Scotland that have subway systems yet Dublin doesn't have one, it's just Insane!!!! And Dublin Airport has more passenger traffic than Manchester Airport, yet Dublin has two terminals and Manchester has three, yup it's that bad! In my opinion Dublin is the only real proper city in Ireland, the other cities in my eyes are more like large towns even though they have designated city status!

I wanted to come 3 months before my program began but i wonder if there was a cheaper way to obtain a visa that will let me stay there before my program commences or is my only choice is try to obtain a visa through Bunac?
Answer: I think you might be able to enter the EU as a tourist. I would contact the Irish Embassy to make sure. They might make you leave the country and come back (short RyanAir flight to London). I think it depends why you want to enter the country 3 months before your studies. Again, contact the Irish Embassy to ensure you don't get it wrong.

How exactly does someone from Northern IRELAND become an Irish citizen?
According to everything Ive read on the subject, someone born "on the island of Ireland" on or before December 31 2004 is "entitled to be an Irish citizen", as distinct from "is automatically an Irish citizen". This includes Northern Ireland. Apparently, if you are "entitled to be an Irish citizen", you "become" an Irish citizen by "doing any act that only an Irish citizen is entitled to do". This seems like a load of codswallop and I dont understand a word of it. Why is this so confusing? How exactly does someone born in Northern Ireland before December 31, 2004 become an Irish citizen?
Answer: Here's how:
1. Go to the main post office in your nearest town in Northern Ireland.
2. Get an Irish passport application form.
3. Send the form, along with the required documents, to the Passport Office in Dublin.
4. The Passport Office sends you back your new Irish passport.
5. Job done. Congratulations.

What does Northern IRELAND have to do to become United with IRELAND?
Does the political party of Sinn Fein seek to make Northern Ireland part of the Republic of Ireland?
If so, if Sinn Fein got the majority of seats in Northern Ireland, would they then become part of the Republic?
Answer: in response to your question. now is a convenient moment to answer this question. one must consider the context of this question against the presence of some morally corrupt local unionist community voters. many of said individuals have a distorted view of history and natural justice and hold a distorted view of the history of greed and evil brought to the relevant area by the british empire. the views of said voters would be relevant to any future required actions for re-unification.
The history of the entire island of Ireland is relevant to this question, british invasion brought greed and evil aswell as massacres, poverty, inequality, gross large scale theft, rape and attrocity. history remains an influencing force in what may have to be done for re-unification to occur.
this is relevant to the perception of many voters in the u.k and worldwide opinion. it also is an important factor in voter behaviour.
One of the major sections of the northern population is that of the unionist voter, the opinion of the unionist voter is relevant to this question. This population may incorrectly associate themselves with democracy and political correctness, this can be best understood in the context of the historical rigging of the political system in northern Ireland a.k.a ulster, which was originally a nine country section of Ireland. Considering that said area was reduced to six counties in order to conserve a loyalist majority after partition agreements, it can be seen that democracy has been manipulated. This is relevant to the question of a majority of seats and to whether certain voters should hold a view of being in the position to act as being politically correct.
As history has proved, native populations are rarely content with being mistreated by foreign invading forces and have often risen up to reclaim their native lands, this could be a factor in the psychology of the voter in the province and could influence what would have to be done for re-unification. The native population may consider the invading foreign colonist population (a minority on the island as a whole) to be responsible for the manipulation of their culture and the historical attrocities and in-justices which have taken place over centuries. Again relevant to what actions would have to take place in the future.
The political party of sinn fein does indeed seek to make northern Ireland a part of the republic, their manifesto is to un-do historical evils, being descendants of those survivors of a vertible holocaust they have reason. Indeed they have been associated with evil doings and hold responsibilities, their history should be considered in the context of the history of other political forces on the island who committed by far a larger number of evils and injustices, some very recently. so yes their aim is to make northern Ireland a part of the republic of Ireland.
As for the question of a majority of seats, the unionist view must be considered, this community may not be aware of the terrorism inflicted on the province by the loyalist community aswell as the actions of the army of the foreign colonist empire with which they often associate themselves, this political blindness which is often amazing affects what would have to be done in the case of a majority of seats being held.
Also to be considered re; the possible holding of majority seats by sinn fein is the objective position of the opposing community which is one of living on an island to which its culture is foreign and hugely opposed. This community has often disregarded history while trying to establish itself as a ruling culture above the native population, these behaviours can be seen as unreasonable, especially in the context of previously mentioned attitudes of baseless political correctness. These factors may indicate the planted foreign colonist communities future behavious and what would have to be done. Essentially what has to be done for future re-unification with Ireland is little, although much is continuosly being done to influence the future of the north of Ireland and the future of the approximately 90 year old political entity, which itself exists on a previously fully colonised island which previously expelled foreign rule for the greater part. The political province of northern Ireland is highly influenced by the nationalist community, subsidised from the uk at the cost of billions of pounds and lacking a proper border, these factors will affect what has to be done, aswell as political polls from the uk indicating a mainland preference for the re-unification of Ireland.
so much so that no passport is needed to travel to the north and there is no border, indeed irish currency is accepted in irish department stores and travel is via integrated transport systems linked to dublin on an hourly basis. given these changes in a mere 10 years, within 40 years reunification is infevitable. so thats an indication of what has to be done. in fevitable.
(hopefully in north Ireland a culture of ..free speech will continue to.. persist and return over and over again ..rather than a culture ouf weak cowardsice;)
