Sean Payton suspended, Saints fined for bounty program
New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has been suspended for one year and the Saints will lose two second round picks.
Saints coaches punished - should the players who took part in bounty program face just as tough suspensions?
I listened to Dareen Sharper former Saints defensive player basically defend their actions as just taking money for good performance on the field. It sounds to me if the other players who participated in this program think this way they need to be dealt with severe punishment as well.
Saints Head Coach 1yr suspension
GM 8 games
Assistant Coach 6 games
Former Defensive coordinator Williams - suspended indefinately
$500,000 fine loss of draft picks.
Should the players should face suspensions?
How should the suspensions be based on?
Should there be any players suspended indefinitely?

Saints Fans how would you feel about this?
Your team is screwed...
Out of the scandles like drugs, sex, domestic violence, illegal weapons possession *cough* dog fights *cough* money ect.
Since 1960 the Saints for the most part stay relatively clean compared to other teams but now out of all the scandles the Saints go balls out on a bounty program... The número uno golden rule first commandment & undisputed law the one the thing the NFL will show no mercey to those who break it... PLAYER SAFTEY!!!
Theres a good chance Brees might no return BUT the silver lining???????
Well, how would you feel if Peyton Manning comes back home & takes Brees spot if he chooses not to return to new orleans?
I for one would think it would be badass
Answer: He's not playing in the NFC. He doesn't want to have to compete against Eli in the playoffs unless its the superbowl.

I have a question about the SAINTS BOUNTY PROGRAM, why are people defending it?
I dont understand, but im sure people will disagree with me. I just dont see its ok to reward people to injuring others. Its not war, or a war game, its an entertainment sport. If you injure someone, you better not be getting money for it. I just think its so wrong, and yet so many people are saying "who cares" or "so what". I just dont get why some fans think its good. What say you?
if youre comment is "others teams do it too", youre not adding anything new to the argument. All teams should not allow this to happen.
Answer: Who has defended it? That's just crazy, there's no way anybody can justify that.

Teams Could Be Held Liable for Injuries Traced to Bounties
The New Orleans Saints will almost certainly receive fines, suspensions and/or the loss of draft picks because of the bounty system administered by the former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams that encouraged Saints players to injure opponents -- and for the apparent cover-up by team officials that followed. But that could be just the beginning - New Orleans Saints will almost certainly receive fines, suspensions and/or the loss of draft picks because of the bounty system administered by the former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams that encouraged Saints players to injure opponents; legal experts say individual players--and potentially teams--could be held legally responsible for opponents injuries in cases involving a reckless disregard for safety. The vikes were the better team on paper. If you watched the game youd know the vikings basically gave the Saints the game by mistakes/turnovers. If they played again Vikings win that game easily
Answer: You ranting on Y!A about how your Viqueens didn't win the NFC Championship won't change the fact the Saints have a ring while the Viqueens have 0.

Have The Saints won a super bowl without cheating to get to the super bowl?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2Fu0IFWzmE
New Orleans Saints players and at least one assistant coach maintained a bounty program the last three seasons for inflicting game-ending injuries on opposing players, including Brett Favre and Kurt Warner — a pool that reached as much as $50,000 and paid specific amounts for cart-offs and knockouts, the NFL said Friday.
The report said the pool amounts reached their height in 2009, the year the Saints won the Super Bowl.
The league said between 22 and 27 defensive players were involved in the program and that it was administered by defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, with the knowledge of coach Sean Payton.
Williams, who was hired in January as defensive coordinator by new Rams coach Jeff Fisher, released a statement through the Rams admitting guilt.
"I want to express my sincere regret and apology to the NFL, Mr. Benson (Saints owner), and the New Orleans Saints fans for my participation in the pay for performance program while I was with the Saints," Williams statement read. "It was a terrible mistake, and we knew it was wrong while we were doing it. Instead of getting caught up in it, I should have stopped it. I take full responsibility for my role. I am truly sorry. I have learned a hard lesson and I guarantee that I will never participate in or allow this kind of activity to happen again."
No punishments have been handed out, but they could include suspension, fines and loss of draft picks. The league said the findings were corroborated by multiple, independent sources, in an investigation by the leagues security department.
The payments here are particularly troubling because they involved not just payments for performance, but also for injuring opposing players, Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. The bounty rule promotes two key elements of NFL football: player safety and competitive integrity.
Payoffs included $1,500 for a knockout and $1,000 for a cart-off, with payouts doubling or tripling during the playoffs.
Answer: Define cheating. Hard hits isnt cheating. Other teams probably do it too. Just ask Michael Vick. He spent alot of time hurt last season.
Also if injuring players is cheating everyone does it.
The Saints scored 24 points on offense during the Super Bowl, not counting Porters INT. Last I checked 24 is still greater than 17 scored by the Colts. Talk about the Eagles and their Super Bowl Championship.......oh.........sorry.

Why do people overreact to the SAINTS BOUNTY PROGRAM but not to the Giants targeting Kyle Williams head?
The Giants admitted they knew about his concussion history and it wasnt a big deal.
@Jason, do you think making the Super Bowl is not a reward?
It was more than one play, they targeted him on every kick return. And two lost fumbles DID determine the outcome of the game.
Answer: Because they weren't paid for it. A lot of teams will try to target certain players, but they don't get paid for injuring them or knocking them out of the game.
lol "They tageted him on every kick return" Well, normally, you try to tackle the guy running with the ball. And the two lost fumbles had nothing to do with targeting his head. One was off his leg, and the Giants were smart enough to pick it up, and the other one was just an awesome strip by Jaiquan Williams.

What do you think about the Saints having a bounty program?
I just looked on nfl.com and saw a report that the New Orleans Saints under Gregg Williams and his defense offered a bounty pool to hurt opposing offfensive players. I am a Packer fan and have always to and extent liked the Saints, since they were horrible for a long time and have turned it around. Who believes me about the saints players involved?
In my opinion all players involved in the bounty program should be Banned completely from the game, including the coaches involved. For one I am a buccaneers fan and watch a promising RB Williams get hurt for the season(no relation to the Saints bounty program). Then get good after a few games back and goes down again for the season, same injury opposite knee(again no rtelation to Saints bounty program). Although he still plays he is know where near what he should due to the injury affecting his career. Its not right for players to intentionally injure others period, they could end their career, damage their head with concussions, or affect their career forever. I dont care if they meant to just slightly hurt or nnot, injuring on purpose is on purpose. If thery dont care for others safety and health, Ban them from the NFL for life. Then do a NCAA rule but with drafting and the playoffs. Prevent them from getting a 1st and 2nd round pick for 23 years, and prevent them from making playoffs. If they win the division the 2nd division leader gets rights into playoffs. if they are wild card, team behind em ing wild card race gets in period. Thats fair, dont you think so.
And at first when Sean Payton got hurt vs my team, the Bucs, i felt bad for him. Now after hearing all what the saint done to others, he deserved it big time.
Answer: No. Believe it or not, bounties have been in the National Football league for years. This is just the first time its been so widely publicized. Retired NFL players talk about it all the time, why should the Saints players be exiled from the game simply because they got caught?
I'm a Panthers fan, obviously, and I see where you're coming from. My favorite player ever
Steve Smith was a victim of two cheap plays by the Saints:
This past season, he got cheap shotted by Roman Harper after scoring a touchdown. Harper smacked him so hard he did a side flip.
08-09 Scott Fujita goes for Smith's knees and purposely tries to knock him out the game. Didn;t work, and Smith torched the S*** out that defense.
Being a Bucs fan, I know you want to see the Saints fry so your team can have a easier shot at the playoffs, but for all you know the Bucs could be doing the same. I know my Panthers are ^_^

Answer: They should lose their super bowl win, since it was obvious they cheated to beat the Vikings by illegally hitting Favre the entire game. If they hadn't done that, we all know the Vikings would have went on to play The Colts.
