can LYME DISEASE SYMPTOMS come back even when it is caught early?

I was treated for lyme disease while it was in its early stages about 3 months ago but have been feeling some of the symptoms i had before, is it possible i could still be suffering from it?I cant find anything else to explain the way i feel.
Answer: Yes you may not have taken the antibiotics long enough to eradicate the disease. the trouble with Lyme is the germ can encapsulate itself inside a protective shield and the antibiotics cannot reach it. Then it comes out later and starts all over again. Go to Health Boards.com or to Healing Well.com and check out the information there.

LYME DISEASE SYMPTOMS... Will they go away when disease is gone?

i found out i have chronic lyme disease feb 11th, started treatment the 12th... i have all the the terrible symptoms: Migranes, dizziness, eyes hurt, feeling dioriented, like im a whole different person, flu like symptoms ect... it also affected me mentally making feel a depersonalization kind of feeling... Will i feel completly back to normal once the disease is gone??
Answer: i was treated for Lyme'sfor about a year, I had all your symptoms and more but the migraines were the worst for me. I know how you feel, I felt really weird while sick. and believe me its gonna take a long time to get back to normal, I finished my treatment about a year ago and the only symptom that i still have is the occasional mmigraineand headache. it took very long time for the headaches to calm down and become mmanageable I think I suffered some permanent nerve damage as well. you need remember that lymes devestates your immune system and wipes it out, it takes a long time to rebuild it. And one other piece of advice is to make sure your treated by a lyme literate doc who will stick with you and see it through to the end

Helpful herbs include astragalus, gingko biloba, ginseng, and maitake and reishi mushrooms, as well as cordyceps and Laryx. 7. LYME DISEASE SYMPTOMS?

So I had all the symptoms of lyme disease, and noticed the bulls-eye rash on the back of my knee. I went to a doctor and got a blood test taken for lyme. I got antibiotics for lyme. The next day I had an especially bad fever, so the next morning my parents brought me to a lyme specialist, who said he was sure I must have lyme based on what I was describing as symptoms, and looking at my rash. I got the blood tests back today and they were negative! I know that the tests can be wrong, but is it possible that there is some other disease that could be giving me the bulls eye rash and lyme symptoms? thanks.

What are the symptoms of lyme disease in dogs?

How soon do the symptoms start appearing? Is it treatable? And what other diseases can dogs get from ticks? Symptoms of those?
Answer: Do you realize what you just asked takes about a full week of lectures in a college Infectious Disease course? As someone who has taken such a course, I'll try to summarize: In a lab, Lyme disease symptoms can take 2 to 5 months to appear after exposure. The most common symptoms are lameness, loss of appetite and fever. In some dogs, Lyme can affect the heart and cause heart failure, or the central nervous system and cause uncoordination or weakness. And in a few rare cases, Lyme disease can cause a fatal kidney inflammation and shutdown (Lyme-associated nephritis). Symptoms of Lyme are vague. A dog can get any, all, or some of them. And once Lyme disease causes problems, it can be difficult to cure completely (that's why human physicians commonly prescribe medication after tick bites - you can cure Lyme if treated right away.) Once a dog is sick, the symptoms often do get much better with antibiotics. But sometimes the disease just hides and the dog relapses later. Or the dog may be perfectly healthy the rest of it's life - there's no guarantee. But not all dogs who test positive for Lyme will get sick, either. Your vet will guide you in the proper course of testing and treatment. The best thing for you to do is prevention: 1) Keep your dog on a tick preventative (Frontline Plus kills ticks; Advantix, Vectra 3D, or the Preventic collar repel and kil ticks) all year round (there is some stage of some species of tick active all year round). 2) Avoid tick habitats as much as possible. Mow your grass, and walk your dog on a leash where he stays on the sidewalk. 3) If he's been in the woods or fields, check your dog for ticks daily. Remove any you find. (If you like, take it to the vet for identification. Only certain species carry certain diseases. The vet can also send it to a lab to see if the tick had Lyme, or he can test your dog - and repeat the test in 30 days if appropriate). 4) If you live in a Lyme-endemic area (like the Northeast or Great Lakes US), and your pet is commonly exposed to woods or fields, consider getting him vaccinated against Lyme disease. Some other diseases that are commonly carried by ticks include: Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever Ehrlichia canis Anaplasma phagocytophilum (also used to be called Ehrlichia equi) Anaplasma platys Babesia These diseases have varried symptoms. Most can cause fever (but that is not always seen). Some cause vascultis (which you see as a spotty rash and/or warm edema or swelling). Some cause lameness like Lyme. Some cause hemolytic anemia (you'd see signs of blood loss like weakness or pale gums or sometimes you might notice pink urine or a yellow tint to gums, eyes and/or skin). Some cause decreased platelets (you might see bruising, a spotty rash or unusual bleeding).

Answer: for me it felt like I had the flu, and then it passed. Stage 2 felt like someone beat me with an arthritis stick as well as having major gastrointestinal issues and muscle aches so bad that it required pain management! Please do NOT believe that 70% of people with Lyme have a rash garbage! That number is simply what we call "skewed information", 70-80% of people that get the rash and then go to the doctor about it are positive for Lyme, the other people have symptoms like facial palsey, etc. THAT is where they (the CDC, etc.) are getting that information from, people who are diagnosed at the doctors office. The REAL numbers are really probably around 30-40% when corrected for people who do not discover it right away, probably less because they are not including those that never find out they are infected! MANY people have Lyme and do not know it until they have entered stage 2 like I did, or worse! Lyme is very common. Sadly because of the political nature of the disease (look it up, I am not kidding! There is a huge political battle in the medical community about this with some very big egos/names holding research and treatment hostage!) , which very sadly has held up research and treatment. Reminds me of the whole early problems with HIV... the band of medical egos played on while those infected in the general population sink into illness....

what are the symptoms of lyme disease or having ticks in dogs?

what are the symptoms for lyme disease and ticks in dogs???
Answer: Infected dogs may be lethargic, have a poor/loss of appetite, or a fever (103° - 105 ° F). Dogs may also experience lameness shifting from one joint to another, fatigue, kidney damage or failure, heart disorders, or neurologic involvement (e.g. aggression, confusion, overeating, seizures). Dogs can be infected with the Lyme bacterium but not exhibit any noticeable symptoms. Dogs appear to have the same expression of disease as humans, therefore, humans have been considered an animal model for dogs. Transplacental transmission has occurred in dogs.

How long does it take for LYME DISEASE SYMPTOMS to appear?

We just found a tick on my dog (golden retriever) and it probably was there since sunday, april 1st. I am concerned that she received Lyme Disease. I would like to know how long it takes for the symptoms of the disease to appear?
Answer: The early signs of Lyme disease in dogs are supposed to be loss of appetite, fever and lethargy. Lameness may occur at the same time or may occur later. In some dogs, enlargement of the lymph nodes (usually generalized enlargement) occurs. In dogs, skin signs, heart disease, kidney problems and neurologic signs are reported to be rare. Symptoms of Lyme disease are usually delayed for several months but start to occur about 2 months after exposure and should show up by 5 to 6 months after a dog or cat is bitten by a tick carrying the bacteria (Borrelia burgdorferi).

The Downside of a Balmy Winter? Long Walks With the Dog Arent Carefree

Annette Kowalczyk, a retiree, and her trusty dog, Beau, were extraordinarily active last month, relishing long walks through her suburban Chicago neighborhood -- a pleasant change from last winter, when icy sidewalks and bitter cold made their favorite pastime downright treacherous. Alas, for poor Beau, a bichon frisé who suffered a nasty tick - Entomologists say mild weather in much of the country means ticks may begin appearing earlier in the season than usual; an explosion of the population is said to be unlikely, but with people outdoors enjoying the unseasonable temperatures, opportunities exist for the pests to be more active. What are the symptoms of Chronic Lyme Disease, and how long can someone go without signs before they reappear?

I had lyme disease, a very bad case of lyme disease almost 15 years ago while I was in high school. I had been misdiagnosed for several months, until I was finally treated with IV antibiotics, two different courses over a year in duration total. I had not had any symtoms I would have attributed to lyme in years, but recently, my joints are really sore and swollen. I am only in my early thirties, and I dont think that this is a normal symptom of aging at this point. Can lymes lay dormant in the body that long with no symtoms and then return?
Answer: Your symptoms can be a result of Lymes Disease. The organism is certainly gone, but the immune response is what can cause chronic arthritis in people. Approximately 10% of people who experience arthritis as part of Lymes Disease will end up with a long-term, chronic arthritis. The arthritis is most commonly found in the knees. How long can this go on? No telling; there have certainly been no studies going for 15 years or more. All that being said, swollen joints is not a normal part of aging for a 30-something (still very young as far as adults go). In addition, there are a *lot* of things that can cause swollen joints and, if you have no clue why they're swollen, you should see a doctor. Swollen joints with no apparent cause are usually immunologic in nature (lupus or, less likely at your age, rheumatoid arthritis) or infectious (gonorrhea can cause this). But then it could be the Lymes.
