Cristian Fernandez is only 12 years old. And if Florida prosecutor Angela corey has her way, hell never leave jail again. Cristian hasnt had an easy life. Hes the same age now as his mother was when he was born. Hes a survivor of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. In 2010, Cristian watched his stepfather commit suicide to avoid being charged with abusing Cristian. Last January, Cristian was wrestling with his 2-year-old brother, David, and accidentally broke Davids leg. Despite this, their mother left Cristian with his brother again in March. While the two boys were alone, Cristian allegedly pushed his brother against a bookcase, and David sustained a head injury. After their mother returned home, she waited six hours before taking David to the hospital. David eventually died they are trying him as an adult on 1st degree murder charges with a life sentence. i think this poor little boy should not get charges as an adult OR a child. However, i believe his mother should be held responsible. a parent is responsible for a minor child, SHE left them alone, SHE waited 6 hours before getting help. she should get charged in her sons death and for neglecting to seek medical help immediately. i truly feel bad for this little boy. i wish i could help him thru life in some way. he has been through so much. he is going to live with the neglect, physical and sexual abuse, the images of seeing his step father kill himself in front of him, and the thought that he killed his baby brother his entire life :/ he needs to be loved, cared for, and shown a good path through life. i just read the stroy on this that meg ta posted... wow 2 very different news stories (i literally copied and pasted what i had read to this question). now i dont know what to think :/ its def. clear that this child is in severe need of help and now im thinking jail time IS the answer. Answer: Ok, If a 12 year old intentionally committed murder, then I think they could do life, because at 12.. you know what your doing and should be capable of controlling yourself. Cristian Fernandez could become Americas youngest ever lifer after being charged as an adult over the murder of his two-year-old brother. Prosecutor Angela corey said: We have to protect the public from this young man. She recommended that he face trial as an adult. Ms Corey said the public had a right to be protected from him. If Fernandez were charged as a juvenile and convicted he would be free by the time he is 21. Fernandez is alleged to have beaten his younger brother David Galarriago to death at their home in Jacksonville, Florida, in March. The two-year-old died from a fractured skull that caused bleeding on the brain. He died two days after being admitted to a hospital. An autopsy showed the injuries were caused with blunt force trauma consistent with being punched in the head. Fernandez had previously assaulted his brother and broken his leg. WHY are his rights apparently being violated? "The decision should not be considered a factor in the final determination of the case," the office said in a statement. [WHY NOT?] The grand jury, set to convene Tuesday, was "previously scheduled by the former prosecutor," the statement said. [AS APPARENTLY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN, ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION]. Corey said the investigation into the case continues. The state attorney has maintained that a grand jury is not needed to file possible criminal charges against George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who killed the teen February 26..." [WHY IS IT NOT NEEDED, WHEN THE CONSTITUTION SAY IT IS NEEDED? The Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states: "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, UNLESS ON A PRESENTMENT OR AN INDICTMENT OF A GRAND JURY..." The Fifth Amendment says a Grand Jury is needed; the state Attorney General says it is not. WHY? No lynch mob or racist type answers, or "witty" responses from would-be comedians, please. Were talking about our orderly legal system and why a necessary step might be being eliminated, no matter what, even if a thousand people saw someone do something.
Answer: Apparently a grand jury will not be required because he won't be charged with a capital crime. That seems to narrow it down to manslaughter or some lesser charge or even no charge at all.

Im trying to find my dogs previous owner... Help?

Six months ago I adopted my dog, Corey at the local pound (almost literally down the street) and he was barely a year old when I adopted him. His previous name was "Corki", and his previous owner was a mother with 2 young children and a cat. I was hoping to figure out how to track down these people so I can at least send them an E-Mail or give them a phone call and tell them about how Corey is doing. I think I mightve had their address at one time at the very beginning but I dont have those papers anymore. Can someone help me figure out how I can track this family? Thank you. - Angela
Answer: How nice of you! I once had to give up a dog that I dearly loved because of circumstances beyond my control. I REALLY didn't want to give him up and cried a lot after I did. I would SO much have loved it if whoever got him could have contacted me to let me know how he was doing or even if we could have gotten together to play. That was forty years ago and I have tears in my eyes thinking about it. I hope you can find them. Maybe put posters around in your community with the same info you posted here. Best of luck!

Why does the press keep calling the Zimmerman shooting a "case", doesnt that label get stuck AFTER an arrest?

It is also shorthand for the reported decisions (appeals, certain decisions) which can be cited as precedents. Thus, "in the case of Malarkey v. Hogwash Printing Company, the court stated the rule as:." cause of action - sufficient facts necessary to pursue a criminal or civil trial --- My question is, isnt a CASE something that happens AFTER an arrest has been made? Since no arrests have been made, isnt the press trying to prove Zimmermans guilt already? If he wasnt arrested, they dont yet have a case, thats what they are trying to build, isnt it?
Answer: There are different definitions for "case". The one you described, a "case" of a substance (I.e. : Amantillado if you like Edgar Allen Poe), & the use of "case" as a replacement for the term "in the instance of". It's really up to the speaker. "In the instance of the Zimmerman shooting..." or "In the case of the Zimmerman shooting..." are interchangeable. There is no current court case with Zimmerman, but using the term in such a way is legitimate.

On Sunday, Zimmerman launched a website seeking donations for his legal and living expenses.
