when will electric cars have common power supply for quick exchange?
If there where a common battery pack for electric cars, then the spent batteries could be excanged at a station like cars cuurently stop at gas stations. With the e/car range problem solved, theres NO reason to pursue other technologies and the gas powered pesonal vehicle can die a quick death! Can somebody pass this on to Elon musk?
Answer: Things like that have been talked about. More likely is that we will have batteries that can be charged quickly and charging stations.
Phoenix Motorcars has a battery made by Altairnano, which can be charged in 10 minutes with a special 440 volt charger. It's onboard 110 volt plug in charger takes 6 hours.
Another idea that has been discussed is for power companies to buy up used electric car batteries for storing energy. Apparently the batteries will have plenty of life left when they are no longer strong enough to run the car. This could conceivably reduce the up front cost of the car's battery as this would be pro rated, or discounted when the car is sold.
Electric cars are already sufficient for use as local delivery vehicles and such. Phoenix sees farmers and ranchers using their utility pickup as job trucks. Also, industrial, construction and mining sites could use them the same way.
I think plug in hybrid electrics, PHEV, are the best bet for the time being.

I am planning on studying in the field of Business. I want to specialize in Entrepreneurship. I Already have the list of schools I want to attend and most of them are not near these places. Thats fine because I might attend a junior college for one to two years. USC is on my list but it is on the bottom. The rest are either out of CA or up North (Stanford University). I am young and want to have fun, be safe, healthy, inspired, make friends who are successful and intelligent and who can teach me important things. I just discovered that Elon musk ( one of the people I look up to) lives in Bel Air. Befriending him would be life changing and very positive. I also plan on purchasing a Tesla Model S.
My question should have been "Where should I live?"
Its part of my dream and plan...

If you won the lottery would you be motivated to acquire more knowledge?
I certainly would. I would manage my time much better and I would be in college/university for a long time. I would buy an iPad and would read all the magazines I like (ones that have interesting information IMO, not about gossip or celebs) and read many books. I would study physics, biology, chemistry, anatomy, astronomy, mathematics, business/entrepreneurship and then I would start many companies to help advance the human race. Elon musk is a very interesting man, he is very successful and has companies in fields/industries that I am interested in. I just really hope I win very soon, wish me luck guys. I am only 18 years old so I have a long life to live and I hope it will happen so I can do what I dream about everyday and life the life I want to.
Actually it will happen and I have a specific jackpot inn mind. All the "woulds" in the text...consider them wills. I have high hopes.
Of coarse I would vacation/travel many times throughout the year and also reside in an area that is near the coast. Just relaxing my entire life and not being productive would give me the feeling of guilt especially if I have so much more free time.
Yes, I am interested in Photography and music as well. I do not have the same passion for it in comparison to science and business though so I would most likely just take a class on photography and take great pictures on all my travels and I would explore different music from different cultures in my travels too.

In an attempt to be the first people on Mars, Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, is building a suborbital rocket called the Blue Origin New Shepard. John D Carmack, the man behind video games Doom and Quake, has his eyes on a lunar landing. Virgin Atlantic boss Richard Branson is aiming to kickstart space tourism with his Virgin Galactic project.
However, SpaceX is the most advanced and ambitious player in the field. Its rockets have already flown into space and it has won hundreds of millions of dollars worth of business contracts for future payload launches. Its founder, Elon musk says "Its important that we attempt to extend life beyond Earth now. It is the first time in the four billion-year history of Earth that its been possible and that window could be open for a long time – hopefully it is – or it could be open for a short time."
Elon musk also says in all seriousness, "It would be a good place to retire."
Is cheaper satellites good news for everyone or the moral of the story is that with great wealth come great delusions?

(ABC News) — With the approval of the Obama administration, an electric car company that received a $529 million federal government loan guarantee is assembling its first line of cars in Finland, saying it could not find a facility in the United States capable of doing the work.
Vice President Joseph Biden heralded the Energy Department’s $529 million loan to the start-up electric car company called Fisker as a bright new path to thousands of American manufacturing jobs. But two years after the loan was announced, the job of assembling the flashy electric Fisker Karma sports car has been outsourced to Finland.
“There was no contract manufacturer in the U.S. that could actually produce our vehicle,” the car company’s founder and namesake told ABC News. “They don’t exist here.”
Henrik Fisker said the U.S. money so far has been spent on engineering and design work that stayed in the U.S., not on the 500 manufacturing jobs that went to a rural Finnish firm, Valmet Automotive.
“We’re not in the business of failing; we’re in the business of winning. So we make the right decision for the business,” Fisker said. “That’s why we went to Finland.”
The loan to Fisker is part of a $1 billion bet the Energy Department has made in two politically connected California-based electric carmakers producing sporty — and pricey — cutting-edge autos. Fisker Automotive, backed by a powerhouse venture capital firm whose partners include former Vice President Al Gore, predicts it will eventually be churning out tens of thousands of electric sports sedans at the shuttered GM factory it bought in Delaware. And Tesla Motors, whose prime backers include PayPal mogul Elon musk and Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, says it will do the same in a massive facility tooling up in Silicon Valley.
