Answer: This may surprise some, but he never had it. He had one good Cy Young year and one decent year with the A's. The rest were average if that.

This is not me hating on Strasburg, I just want your opinions. ESPN is giving this guy so much attention right now that I just had to say this.
What I mean by "turning into a Barry zito" is that he will start off strong his first couple of seasons and then plunder if he gets traded.

and had another amazing season like he did with the As. I highly doubt that it would ever happen, but what would happen if Barry zito had a 20 win, sub 3 era season?
Answer: I would cry.
Because the only way that would happen is if we time travelled back to 2002. And I haven't forgotten which team lost the World Series in 2002.
However, if Zito can pitch half as good as he was in 2002, I'll be mildly content.

What do you think happened to BARRY ZITO?
What do you think is the reason that Barry zito went from being a great pitcher for the Athletics (and consistent too, having never missed a start), to being so awful as a Giant?
Also, do you think he will ever be a good pitcher again? (Im just asking if you think hell be a good player again, not whether hell live up to his behemoth contract. The old Cy-Young-Zito couldnt even live up to that beast.)

Answer: I honestly think he left his heart in Oakland. He has a ton of weight on his back with this contract and probably every day in his life he psychs himself out before he can even get to the mound.
Also it could be the club? He seemed to have good partnerships/friendships within the A's organization, maybe he doesn't have that anymore and it was something he needed? Whatever it is, it's really sad. He was an amazing pitcher.

SF Giants pitcher BARRY ZITO is off to a fast start. Will it last?
I watched Zito strike out 10 Cardinal batters and match Wainwright for 8 scoreless innings. Is he the real deal again?
Answer: My boy Zito is back! His head is on straight, he finally adjusted that silly arm motion he toyed with when he signed his contract, and most importantly, he's using the entire plate on the mound. It's a very subtle part of the game, but moving 1-3 inches left or right of the rubber mound plays a huge role.
He found his groove at the beginning of the 2nd half in last years all star break. He will finish with a 3 era this season when it's all said and done.

I said before the season started that Zito would pitch better this year and all of you pretty much laughed at me. I know it is very early, but Zito is looking good. How long do you guys think he will keep this up?
I agree completely that he isnt worth the money. I just think it is dumb that people wont give him credit. He is getting better, at least as of now.
GF4L- Yeah it has been very disappointing. The Giants need a bat. Too bad they didnt go after Dunn.
Answer: I think he works too high in the strike zone with a sub par fastball to have long term success this year. Its also sad when a pitcher making that much money has a 3.99 ERA and is considered to be pitching well.

Answer: They may want to send him down to the minor leagues because look at what Happened to Roy Halladay a while ago. He had something wrong with his mechanics and he got sent down to single a and the pitching coach seen something wrong with his mechanics as he was throwing straight over armed and madehis fastball flat. So after he changed he became an amazing pitcher and was back in the majors before you know it winning a cy young and putting up some cy young numbers.

How do you explain Dontrelle Willis and BARRY ZITO?
When both guys first came up to the majors, they dominated. Barry zito had a 23 win season and Dontrelle Willis had a 22 win season. For the last 2-3 years, both have been irrelevant. Is it because other teams figured them out and they never adjusted? Did both guys dominate because there were no scouting reports?
Answer: Zito was over rated from the jump. He was a young lefty that won a Cy Young with one good pitch.
Dontrelle simply lost it. He went into slump that he could not shake that eventually turned into a mental thing that took all of his confidence.
Dontrelle stopped believing in his abilities.

Barry zito is playing much better than his records indicate.
Hes only getting approximately 2 runs of support from the Giants offense (among the lowest in the Majors). In nine starts, the Giants scored zero runs for him.
In his last 8 starts, he has 3 wins and an ERA of 1.66.
Hes playing alot more fire than I can remember.
Answer: He is finally coming around and justifying some of that contract. He is well enough that even the "experts" in the media are taking notice. If that team could only hit!

Will BARRY ZITO get his job back once he comes off the disabled list?
Ryan Vogelsong has 3 wins, 0 losses and a 1.93 ERA since replacing the injured Barry zito.
Answer: As a Giants fan I can honestly say I much prefer Ryan Vogelsong over Barry zito at this point. Zito has just looked uninterested the past couple of times he's been on the mound and his numbers back that up. Zito is a decent stop-gap pitcher when he is on... but nothing more. I wouldn't mind him being a part of a possible 6 man rotation, but as far as replacing Vogelsong... I'd be very against that move.
With that being said I still give Zito all the credit in the world. He only won a few games last season, but given the fact that it took the regular season finale win against the Padres to even make the playoffs, without Zito's wins we would have never even had the chance to win a world series championship.
